4. Later, he used to crawl out of the great gate and come by night to Dale, and carry away people, especially maidens, to eat, until Dale was ruined, and all the people dead or gone. 5. Off they went, not waiting for trays, balancing columns of plates, each with a bottle on the top, with one hand, while the hobbit ran after them almost squeaking with fright: “please be careful!” and “please, don’t trouble! I can manage.”

How well do these memes sum up Chaos?

Avatar

Yeah, that is probably the most apt description on each of the Chaos Gods and what they represent. Especially like how the creator emphasized the fact that Nurgle is NOT in anyway a good or benevolent Chaos God to his sad followers, and is just as wretched as the rest of them.

Can't put videos in a reblog so @kedreeva I hung out with him today

When he gets close you can hear him purring lol

Edit cos I forgot to add context lol

Oh he is SO happy you have participated in hunting for food with him! What a good baby!

ACT V (part 1)

Well, maybe it wasn't quite how Alessio thought his first meeting with his father would be. It was inevitable.

Oh! By the way, now I can tell you that I'm creating this entire comic to set the stage for my personal chapter: “Last Hope.” The home of the outcasts, the pariahs, and those who have been unjustly exiled for believing that humanity is above any order. I'll tell you more about them as the comic progresses.

Many thanks to my hooded partner in crime @taryn40k for her help in proofreading the dialogues!

Crow's Salmon Adventure

Okay y'all. So. I'm making a thing and it's going to be horrible, so obviously I need to share it with Tumblr.

For context, @kedreeva recently did a fun new year's ask game where they shared recipes from a cookbook. Most of them sounded really tasty! And then I saw... this one.

(recipe image from Kedreeva's blog)

My thought process was as follows:

  1. That sounds like an absolute abomination
  2. But...
  3. I like salmon (usually)
  4. I like mousse (of the dessert variety, ideally chocolate)
  5. I generally enjoy things with obscene amounts of condiments (though a cup of mayonnaise, admittedly, is very iffy)
  6. I have a group of friends who will go out of their way to try literally any weird snack they can find (we've eaten durian pocky and dill pickle cotton candy, but that's another story), and they'd totally let me force this upon them, and, most importantly,
  7. I could finally use my fish molds for their intended unholy purpose.

Yes, the fish molds. My collection of seafood-themed vintage copper pans that occasionally get used for breads or cakes but mostly just hang on the wall because I have opinions about kitchen decor and one of those opinions is that there should be copper fish everywhere. These things are literally designed for horrendous '60s savory gelatin concoctions. So I figure I have to make one eventually. Y'know, for the sake of the fish. Savory mayonnaise jello is probably enrichment for them or something.

So basically, all of this is to justify why I'm making salmon mousse tonight and liveblogging the process. I suggest blocking the tag "crow's salmon adventure" if you don't want to see... well. Gelatin. Mayo. Canned fish juices. Et cetera.

Stay tuned for the horrors!

Veggies: chopped!

Concerns about how chunky raw celery will be after going through the blender: many!

Fish solids and liquids: separated!

Smells: horrendous!

Cat: enthralled, having the time of his life, wants to drink the salmon smoothie right now.

Gelatin: uhhhhh... looks like that. This is probably fine.

Fun fact! Apparently when you add vinegar to canned salmon juices it turns a horrific milky white! Ain't chemistry fun?

Hot salmon ketchup soup actually smells significantly better than the plain juices, if a bit acrid.

Who wants smoothies???

I am in hell actually

"Grease the mold with mayonnaise-"

No. No for the love of god do not grease the mold with mayonnaise do not tenderly rub globs of mayo into the cold scales of the fish mold with your bare hands learn from my mistakes and save yourself from salmon hell.

Going in the fridge now. You'll all have to wait until Thursday for the final unveiling, but I'll add an update tomorrow for the cucumber-dill sauce. Now it's time to sit on the couch and question my life choices for a while.

every moment of this was horrifying to observe, thank you. I'm looking forward to Thursday

Shamelessly Stolen Adapted from an ask to @askrobouteguilliman40k

You are a human in the 40K Imperium. I’m sorry.

You need to assemble a team of Avengers to Do an Important Thing. Pro or anti-Imperium, I leave to you.

You have temporary access to a Time Machine, or maybe just one of Trazyn’s tesseract labyrinth galleries. Yay!

You must assemble your team from humans/transhumans/abhumans the 30k Pre-Heresy/Great Crusade era. Immediately before the Heresy breaks out is okay. 7 people. No Primarchs. Not the Emperor either. Maximum 2 Astartes.

Who do you choose?

Only two astartes limits it a little, so we need to get someone certified at achieving results. I'd use the time machine to get two concurrent versions of Erebus.

The other five people only exist to keep those two in line so I recommend a full perpetual group: Malcador, Erda, John Grammatikus, Olleanius, and as the only normal human with enough natural authority to keep them straight: Lotara Sarrin.

I doubt there is much this group could not deal with, even with absolute certain unfathomable collateral damage.

God I’m so interested in what sort of genetics the chimera baby would pass on if bred

I am going to see! He's got 3 blackshoulder hens to go with him, and if he's dropping bs genes he should drop only bs babies, if he only has wild wing all his kids should be wild wing. What will be very interesting is if he drops both or neither.

Avatar

I shall also be watching with interest, us it likely to be this year or next??

It definitely won't be this year and probably won't be next. Next year I will be repeating Earl x Wendy and Heather, to attempt to get a few more EV hens to work with and distribute. While the hens are growing out up 3 years, in 2027, I will see about letting hens hatch from the chimera boy.

Keeping him does mean selling Polaris, which I was already planning to do because of his attitude toward babies. Most of his sons were also inheriting his being a bit of a dick (not like hurting anyone but just being a bit of a dick), but so far the chimera has been super docile and even protective of his younger siblings, so I'm hopeful he got some better temperament genes, too. But any breeding will have to happen after Polaris is out, because he won't tolerate another breeding male in his space.

I live in a world where this is discussing the breeding of magical creatures.

Are dragonbirds not magical to you?

Do these beasts inspire no awe in you, no admiration for the way their colors shift and change to your eye while no pigment upon them is altered? Do you have no love of how soft the scales upon their backs are, as they transform into feathers at your touch?

Is there no magic in the taming of such a beast?

I live in a world where magic does not stop being magic because we understand how it works

The year is now 2027. What’s the news on chimera boy? Is this the year? :)

I'm still in 2026, but he's alive and well. I've sold Polaris and I'm awaiting spring. I've named him Gemini. He has eye feathers at 2 years old (not a lot of them but he has some) so he should be capable of breeding but I still won't be breeding him until I also reach 2027. Do let us know if things have improved.

I’m not mad, I’m just disappointed…

I’ll go into more detail on Patreon this week

And also - for me - if you’re taking creative liberties, does it actually look good? And in this case, in my humble and definitely unbiased opinion… no <3

1. As he lay in bed he could hear Thorin still humming to himself in the best bedroom next to him: Far over the misty mountains cold To dungeons deep and caverns old

2. It was after tea-time; it was pouring with rain, and had been all day; his hood was dripping into his eyes, his cloak was full of water; the pony was tired and stumbled on stones; the others were too grumpy to talk. “And I’m sure the rain has got into the dry clothes and into the food-bags,” thought Bilbo.

ACT IV (part 6)

Another day, another little bit of history. I know I usually post in the morning, but on weekends I'm busy with other things that keep me away from the computer. So... patience.

Our boys are on a roll, aren't they?

Thank you @taryn40k, my dear friend!! for your wonderful help with adjusting the dialogues.

Well, that wraps up this story. I'll be launching my next Kickstarter in early Spring 2026 for the printed Six Doomwrecked Knights comic book.

(That will be my fourth printed comic. Blows my mind.)

I'm going to take January off from releasing new comic pages so I can draw the cover. Life will return in February, but something very different is coming...

Beware the Modern Plague!!

#DIYComicsHardcore starts here. Make an effort. Make your own comics.

ACT IV (part 3)

I've made some visual changes, as you can see I've increased the size of the pages, so now you should be able to see them better and read them more comfortably!

Also, I changed the title to the correct one: from Act III to Act IV, because I was getting it wrong (and none of you said anything!).

And happy new year!!!!

Thank you @taryn40k for helping me tirelessly every day!

If I can ask, how do you do color palettes? Your drawings make it look so amazing and nice and I just keep looking at them with my mouth wide open. (Also, sorry if this is a bit too meta)

aw thank you sm and dw that's not too meta, i am in fact willing to admit i'm a real person who is happy to tell you how i make my real art! here's some lil pointers:

1. remember that colours are untrustworthy shapeshifters

colours look different depending on their contexts! bc i use a Lot of pink, i tend to use very desaturated or even grey colours as my blues and greens bc against a lot of warm colours, small bits of grey will look blue/green/colder

so if you want something of the "opposite" colour to blend in, use a more desaturated colour closer to the palette's side of the wheel. if you want something to stand out, use it's 'actual' colour

on this, you can also set what "black" and "white" is within your piece bc again, relativity! in most my half-lined art, i use a dark brown as black and a very light yellow or pink as white, going down to more of a grey if the bg is darker. this way you can make even black and white coherent with your palette!

2. use base colours

this is just a good idea for coherent palettes bc you have a baseline you're basing your colour choices off (said base too many times)! select the shape of your art, fill it with a colour, then when you're actually getting to colouring, start off from that base colour. i don't know how to explain that less badly so here's a picture

alternatively you can be lazy and just do it normally then use a multiply layer on top. but i find it really hard to work like that soo i do this (also you'll learn better this way yada yada)

3. less is more

you wanna know my cheapest n dirtiest trick for having nice colour palettes? just use less colours. re-use colours within the same art as much as you can. like when i draw the last (4) jedi, there's usually only about 11 colours between the four of them

(a nice lil rule of thumb for limited palettes is have 2 similar colours and 1 different colour, bc variety is the spice of life. ie the tl4j palette is yellowy pinks + oranges (both near each other on the colour wheel) and then blues (opposite to orange). rule of three, baby!)

limited colour palettes are also a really good way to practice the colour relativity thing bc they force you to really think about colours and what they can be in the right context. my favourite way to practice limited palettes and relativity is through just using the MS paint default colours to do studies:

(ALSO JUST GENERALLY DO STUDIES OF ANY ARTS OR ARTISTS YOU LIKE PLEASE its a great way to learn any art skill)

5. disregard everything i just said and do whatever you want forever

look i do not have any formal art training and we are on tumblr.com. the only rule of colour palettes and art is have fun and draw your blorbos. there are no other rules -- there are definitely guidelines, and it is worth listening to people who are Really Good/Well Trained, but like. it's art dude. use whatever colours you like and just do whatever floats your stoat
