Open Call The Poetic Lens
Dear poets and filmmakers,

Due to an overwhelming response to our open call, we've made the difficult decision of closing submissions early. We are so excited to give our full attention to each of the more than 500 films already submitted.

You have the option to use this form to submit your email to be included on our mailing list for future opportunities.

Thank you for your time and interest. We look forward to seeing your work in the future.

Warmly,
Michèle St. Michel & Erica Schreiner

The fate of poetry is to fall in love with the world. —Derek Walcott

Thank you for your interest in submitting a poetry film for "The Poetic Lens" — our upcoming screening event held in-person and hosted online at Millennium Film Workshop on January 18th. Submissions are now closed.
  • All films must be under 12 min
  • Content warnings are requested
  • If selected, you will be required to send a downloadable link
Poetry film is an expansive genre encompassing poems read on film, poetic text on screen, visual poetics, and approaches such as the illustrative, interpretative, abstract/experimental, performance-based, kinetic typography, soundscape-focused, and cinematic poetry. We aim to embrace the broadest possible definition of the genre and hope this screening will spark dialogue about the genre's fluid boundaries and its spill into often mispronounced and unwieldy territories.

The screening is curated and hosted by Erica Schreiner and Michèle St. Michel.
