Ryley Is Quieter Than Before

Once again, I drew this forever ago, but I’m still pretty proud of it. Once again, this is Subnautica fanart. Personally, I headcanon that Ryley stays on 4546B instead of going back to Earth, but I still do have ideas of what would happen if he went back. 

He would feel like he doesn’t fit in, he’d want to go back. He’d miss the creatures, he’d regret not staying and seeing what happened to the Emperor’s young, he’d feel disconnected from people. His sister would be happy he’s back and he would be happy to see her, but his smile would be forced. People would give him weird looks, he’s the guy who spent more than a year on an alien planet, what if he’s sick? The only times he’d leave his apartment would be to get groceries and visit the beach. Before he left, he never really liked the beach, but once he got back? All he wanted to do was be near water. Of course, his sister would worry. Wondering what happened to her baby brother. Why he all of a sudden can’t talk. And why he spent so much time out there by the ocean.

Imagine this, a subnautica AU where nobody dies and you collect party members instead. Basically, whenever you go to a lifepod (assuming they’re all in good condition,) you meet an Aurora survivor who joins you to survive. Depending on you and your crews actions, the Sunbeam could either land but barely dodge the QEP, or be blown to bits by the QEP. If the Sunbeam crew lives, they’ll join your already massive party. In this AU, the Neptune rocket is large enough to hold all of your group members and carries you safely off of the planet. (If the rocket isn’t big enough you’re able to build multiple rockets.) Everone becomes close friends over the journey and end up sticking together after landing back at Alterra.
