It’s kind of beautiful, how painfully oblivious people can be to other’s feelings. More beautifully painfull. The type of painful that really sits in your chest and festers, almost like a bad cold.
It was the type of pain you felt now, looking at Mingi as he smiled brightly. You really didn’t feel like you had the right to feel this way. There was no way he was yours and you two weren’t even that close in reality. You just had similar circles and that was why you saw him as much as you did. That was what got you into this mess. You wished you could blame him, but he didn’t mean to make you fall in love with him.
Your finger tip circled the top of your beer bottle and you sighed to yourself. He was just so animated, telling the story of how odd he thought Yunho was when he first met him. You were probably sitting the furthest away from him, wanting to avoid falling in love with him further. As if sitting at a distance would help.
Mingi stopped laughing, letting out a deep breath and leaning back. “I need another beer. Anyone else? You? You?” He went around the group and asked. “Y/N?” He asked, knocking you out of your trance and you looked up from your bottle. You locked eyes with him for a split second before immediately dropping your gaze back to the bottle. “No I’m good.” You said and he moved on to the kitchen to grab more.
“You’re pitifull.” Wooyoung said and his insult caught you off guard. “What?” You said and looked at him. He started laughing before fully turning to you. “You are pitifull. You can’t even look him in the eye.” He said and you shook your head. “Shut up. It’s none of your business.” You told him and put your bottle on the table. “So touchy about it too.” He added and you glared at him. “I’m one comment away from hurting you. Stop it.” You said and Mingi came back the bottles clinking against eachother. “If he’s bullying you again, Y/n, I can set him straight.” Mingi joked and you just feigned a smile. “Stop bullying them.” Mingi joked and looked at you and Wooyoung before passing everyone who wanted drinks theirs.
The night drew to an end and you went to the bathroom before leaving Mingi’s apartment. Drying your hands, you exited into the hall and bumped into someone’s chest. Looking up to see Mingi, you immediately looked down. “Oh y/n, you’re still here?” Mingi said, his words slurring slightly. He was a little tipsy, it was no surprise really. He had drank quite a bit. “Yeah, I just went to the bathroom before we leave.” You said with a confused look. “Oh, everyone left already.” Mingi said scratching the back of his head. “Of course they did.” You muttered to yourself.
You weren’t even surprised at this point. They always got so caught up with eachother they tended to not pay attention to things around them. It stung a little but it wasn’t anything new.
“Well I guess I should go.” You said and brushed past him. “Hey, are you good to go home alone?” He asked turning to watch you scramble and put on your coat. “I should be fine.” You said and he hummed. “I would walk you home but I might not get back okay myself.” He said with a laugh, oh yeah he was definitely tipsy. You felt incredibly awkward, standing with your coat on and your bag in your hand. Mingi looked at you with questioning eyes, his hand on the back of his neck.
