if sex work was legal the workers could unionize
I am fully serious about this btw. not “pro sex work” as in “there are no issues whatsoever within the industry”, but “pro sex work” as in “these are jobs and the workers should be a) allowed to work and b) protected from their customers by the law”
people responding to this with stuff like “but that would just put sex workers in the same exploited position as uber drivers, cleaners, migrant workers, etc” and yes! good point! reform all of it! keep going!
uber drivers and cleaners and migrant workers should also be allowed to unionize! and be protected from both their employers and their customers! we all should!
This is why its vital to film ICE (and pigs in general) any time you see these roaches on the streets
Because the republikkkan party and their little propaganda monkeys will spout nothing but lies while their gestapo thugs murder innocent people and its vital to have proof of what these filthy pest creatures are actually doing out there on the streets of america
A declassified World War II-era government guide to “simple sabotage” is currently one of the most popular open source books on the internet. The book, called “Simple Sabotage Field Manual,” was declassified in 2008 by the CIA and “describes ways to train normal people to be purposefully annoying telephone operators, dysfunctional train conductors, befuddling middle managers, blundering factory workers, unruly movie theater patrons, and so on. In other words, teaching people to do their jobs badly.”
Over the last week, the guide has surged to become the 5th-most-accessed book on Project Gutenberg, an open source repository of free and public domain ebooks. It is also the fifth most popular ebook on the site over the last 30 days, having been accessed nearly 60,000 times over the last month (just behind Romeo and Juliet).Link to the Guide at Project Gutenberg can be found here
Gosh it would be a shame if this got even MORE visibility.
Whoops my cursor slipped.
It’s also important to note that PBS-funded programs are trying their best to stay afloat despite this! If this news angers you and you have the financial ability to donate, PLEASE throw some money at your local public broadcasting station! If you don’t have a local PBS, consider Oregon Public Broadcasting, which has been in continuous operation for over 100 years (first radio, then TV).
^ this site will show you your local station as well as stations that have lost 50% or more of their total revenue
the corporation for public broadcasting has officially shutdown as of today. please donate to your local pbs
Hope people help spread this around!
I think u should start writing your original story btw. I want to read it.
addition: I understand wanting to wait until things feel Right to write. but as someone who also contends with adhd and The Situations there is not going to be a time where it magically feels perfect to write. “I’ll do it someday / later / when…” is an endless delay. you’ve gotta crack open a document and write something even if it sucks ass because if you don’t get your brain used to the habit it’s not gonna stick. the time you can start is Now.

i truly think that this recent trend of “if you relate to a post about a different identity than your own you are ~derailing~ and taking over the conversation” is incredibly harmful.
i recently experienced some pretty severe transphobic abuse in my workplace (children’s home) that included having food thrown at me, being called slurs, being told i was a pervert because i am trans. one of the managers talked with me afterwards and shared that he had had a similar experience as an Asian man. this wasn’t him derailing my experience, or talking over me, or making things about himself. he was communicating “hey, i know how it feels and how much it sucks. you’re not alone.”
THAT is what solidarity IS. i don’t know what it’s like to be Asian, he doesnt know what it’s like to be trans, but we both had a similar experience and we were able to turn a horrible experience into an opportunity for bonding and comfort.
stop looking at people’s attempts as solidarity as an attack. and hey, you never know - you could find an opportunity to grow closer to other people.
