I actually viscerally hate the phrase "you don't have to understand me, you just have to accept me" because ignorant acceptance isn't real acceptance, only the facade of it.

It works temporarily when trying to get your homophobic aunt to respect your pronouns, but in the long run that lack of understanding that you've ALLOWED is exactly what leads to misinformation and bigoted rhetoric spreading online about minorities, especially about people within the lgbtq, and ESPECIALLY ESPECIALLY transgender individuals who use neopronouns and identify with xenogenders.

If you don't understand me, you don't truly accept me. Do some fucking research into the things that your friends and family identify with.

BREAKING: 21-year-old protester, Kaden Rummler, was shot point-blank in the face by ICE. he just spoke about how he’s blind for life and almost died:

“I will be blind for life. I have fractures in my skull that they can't fix. They pulled a piece of plastic the size of a nickel out of my eye. I had shards of metal, glass, and plastic behind my eye and in my skull. They said it was a miracle I survived.”

Nil was in a weird place mentally when Polly came to. They were still shaken up by everything so much that they weren’t able to really process it all, and fell back into their ‘aloof’ demeanour.

And Polly definitely took it the wrong way at first. Went and took out their frustration and guilt on some wooden logs that the Witch ordered them to chop up, thinking about how when Nil looks at them; Nil probably sees Johnny, and it’s Polly’s fault, Nil should not have had to go to such lengths.

But they’ll be okay. Nil has been reflecting a lot during their stay at the Witch’s hut. It’s time to stop pretending to be so detached.

I love writing weird stuff (weird in a fun and quirky yet kinky way) as much as the next person but writing for small fandoms makes me nervous because like...we all know each other, and my ao3 has the same username I use everywhere else (for the most part). What if I write something self indulgent and everybody sees it and they find it cringe and then I become the butt of a fandom wide joke

I find it funny that the author of Star Trek invented a Vulcan word to describe Jim and Spock's relationship. A word that means "friend, brother, and lover." Then he spends an entire page justifying the "lover" part, saying it was just a metaphor. An entire page when he could have avoided any misunderstanding if he had simply stated that the word meant "friend, brother." Nobody would have speculated or complained because, after all, he CREATED the word.
