I love my fellow trans people AND I think a good portion of us have a severely overinflated view of how common the knowledge of jkr’s transphobia is (in the united states, at least). I have been working at public libraries in the united states technically for ten years next year, and still every year I see parents and kids in hp costumes for halloween. if you’re not online a lot, if you’re not in these spaces, that information gets buried. I started a new job recently and a very kind coworker who is trying her best to look out for me while also not knowing much of anything about trans people gifted me hp candies as a welcome gift. this is my plea of, if anything, be kind to people you know as you tell them this information? and **please** tell them. it’s very likely they just don’t know.
Shoutout to undiagnosed autistic people who used to be anti self diagnosis (you either have a diagnosis or you don’t; black and white thinking) who then learned more about autism, the barriers for getting diagnoses in front of people of various genders/races/incomes/etc., and figured out through that they were autistic and became self diagnosed
over the past three days I’ve gotten a tattoo, my blood drawn, and three vaccines. if I donated blood pre-tattoo and used injections for my hormones I would have gotten the “glutton for needle-based punishment” achievement in my hotbar
