There's stuff here I guess

@du5kfire

tumblr users love reading. you literally stopped for this post just because it has words in it

this is one of my favorite bits about tumblr

the users seem to actually prefer text posts to anything else, and treat it as a chore to play a video especially with sound

OP: Look at the 'fire-butterfly' we managed to film. The picture really doesn't do its beauty justice. (cr 鸟王艾雅康,观鸟景jhin,生态摄影阿博特,毕强,Sjxxphotograph,Fische,鱼摆摆,Shanalotte,冰鹡鸰)

I love this Chinese guy who is so excited to show everyone this really cool bird. This is why the internet was created, so we could show strangers on the other side of the world cool things we know about. Xie xie gege <3333333

My friend is wildly talented and makes these imitation fossils of mythic creatures. I love them so much.

i have a list of demands to be completed before another max and chloe centered life is strange game is allowed to come out and it does involve the creators deleting double exposure forever and apologizing for their sins in a 3 hour long youtube video

A single sentence horror story.

Seriously, Deck Nine, is that a threat?

After Double Exposure? After how you drove away your entire audience and treated both the characters and the fandom with disdain?

After what DE did to Chloe as a character? After what DE did to the relationship that people grew fond enough to stick around for years?

After you treated the entire LGBTQ+ community as a throw-away "marketing target" where you can switch up "irrelevant" parts, and the audience will still come crawling?

How about no?

Let it rest.

How do you feel about the new life is strange games announcement? I’m… tbh I lost interest in the series when they abandoned the anthology structure and considering its only been a year… idk I don’t have high hypes for the franchise-ification of Max Caulfield… heard the might be bringing Chloe back and lmao 😭 the backlash got to them but tbh I don’t have much faith in them writing her considering how much it seems like they dislike her character… idk I wish they’d let the series rest tbh I have no clue where they’re gonna go

Thanks for asking, cause I just made a post about it. I have zero hype for this game. The "MAX CAULFIELD WILL RETURN" screen meant that there was always a planned second game, but I thought it could've been quietly cancelled since DE underperformed. Now it seems like Deck Nine were contracted to make two games no matter what, which probably explains why DE fell off at the end because labor was spread too thin across two games. D9 was split between TC/Wavelengths and the Remasters as well-- by the way, I seriously hate how all the social media channels only use the remastered footage now and pretend LiS2 never existed. They seriously want to erase all of Dontnod's creative fingerprints ON THEIR OWN GAME! And it's likely they were "remastered" so the new models could be used for DE Max and Chloe 🫠

A leaked PEGI rating said that a "deadly inferno will hit Caledon in three days," which is just... so... stupid... How many times can we keep rehashing the same storm plot and still not add to the nonsensical time travel lore of this series? As for Chloe returning, what was the point of breaking them up and angering the fanbase if they were going to get back together anyway? It's embarrassingly obvious that shoehorning Chloe back into the narrative is D9/Square's way of saying "Look, don't be mad! Chloe's here! You'll get your precious Pricefield back! Now give us your money!!" D9 never actually planned for Chloe to return but now they have to so people will buy the game. It's lazy, corporate instead of artistic or creative, and way, way too safe.

Honestly, the fans have got to stop monetarily supporting lazy-ass projects that have no heart or soul in them and were only made for profit. D9's games have always have shades of fanservice-- BtS retconned a lot of stuff to bring back returning characters and make Amberprice more clearly romantic, TC brought back Steph, Wavelengths had flashbacks of Arcadia Bay-- but at least the earlier games had actual effort put into them. DE and onward just reeks of exploiting fan interest for profit only.

If I reblog anything from this game, it'll probably be a Pricefield kiss in 4K with improved mocap because I'll always be Pricefield trash. Otherwise, this whole game just sounds dumb and a waste of time. If the TV show doesn't take off, I really hope this isn't the final nail in the coffin for the series.

While you're here, please support Dontnod's projects! Lost Records was a beautiful and impressive indie game and they have more projects coming soon!

My child, who spends their entire life being transfered from home to car to school and back, and is not allowed to leave the house or talk to anyone and can only in their wildest dreams imagine a life free from constant surveillance, is very sad. Obviously they're dumb and lazy, like all kids these days.

kind of a tangent but i recently went to a bowling alley with my friend i'm 19 he's 18 and the woman at the door didn't want to let us in because there was a sign saying under-18s needed adult supervision. everything got cleared up and we were able to go bowl, but i'm still so mad about the fact that kids need adult supervision to go to a bowling alley and arcade. like okay maybe young kids should have supervision but what do you mean middle and high schoolers need to hold mommy's hand while they play video games. kids aren't just addicted to their phones because phones are addicting, we're addicted to our phones because there's nothing else to fucking do

I'm sure banning kids from online spaces while simultaneously not ensuring that they have access to offline spaces to socialize in (without having to rely on their parents who already don't have time for them) will help them feel better & less alienated from society.

“it’s not that deep” it’s not that shallow. now what

The three bears arguing about politics around the dinner table.

Okay this is gong to sound condescending on several levels but:

There's a kind of cliche about training a dog - that if you want it to always come when it's called, you should never scream at or punish it when it does. Even if you just spent twenty minutes getting increasingly panicked thinking it was dead in the woods! Even if it had been trampling through the neighbors garden! It is very important that it's direct association is 'stopping whatever super interesting thing I was doing to go back to human = being praised and rewarded'. If the association is instead being screamed at or punished, the dog will be less enthusiastic to stop whatever fun thing it's doing to run to that.

I feel like a great many people would noticably improve their own lives if they started applying the same logic to how they treated other humans.

As someone in behavior science, this is absolutely true, and very important!

When your learner doesn't know whether they'll get an aversive (uncomfortable/unpleasant) or appetitive (desirable, pleasant) consequence for performing a specific behavior, it creates stress and conflict, and often leads to the behavior breaking down.

In our industry this is known as a "Poisoned Cue." And it's the reason we generally recommend folks choosing a NEW cue when enrolling in a recall class!

Humans experience poisoned cues all the time. Imagine your mom texts you:

"Call me"

Nothing else, just the text. And your stomach drops.

But why? She might want to tell you she bought you tickets to your favorite concert, or that she wants to drop off some cookies! What reason would you have to assume you're in trouble? Because if even ONCE that kind of text resulted in a negative experience, THAT is what your mind will conjure up first. And that is why we want to be very careful NOT to accidentally mix reinforcement with punishment, especially for important behaviors like recall which we may need to use in situations regarding safety.

And there's scientific evidence to support it!
