1. Solaris - has been on my TBR for maybe four years and I can feel that this is the year… I’ve been on a sci fi kick recently so I’m ready to finally get started on this!

2. Nights at the Circus - Angela Carter is one of my favourite authors and it’s crazy it’s taken me this long to get around to reading this one honestly!

3. Mistborn - I feel as if I’ve been tiptoeing around Brandon Sanderson’s world for a long time? I’ve read a handful of his other series and a few of the Cosmere “spinoff” books but have never actually touched any of the books he’s technically known for. I’ve tried Mistborn a few times in the past but gave up before powering through the intro to get into the meat of the plot so hopefully this will be the year!

4. Vanishing World - again, Sayaka Murata is one of my favourite authors (my url is of course a reference to her book Earthlings <3) so I’m excited to get to read this one! The synopsis seems both in line and a complete departure from her usual work so I’m genuinely not sure what to expect

5. Custom of the Country - read my first Edith Wharton (one of her ghost stories) in a literature class last year and was super interested in her work, so I’m very curious to dive in further!

6. Black Brane - I was recommended this one by another horror/sci fi fan so my hopes are high :)

7. Slaughterhouse 5 - also recommended by a friend!

8. Bear Head - I love Adrian Tchaikovsky’s work and I’m going to need to reread Dogs of War before I get to this, but since a third book came out in the trilogy I feel like it’s definitely time to get started w/ the series proper!

9. Zombie - started this last year and forgot about it somehow! But I loved what I have read so far and I’m excited to continue. I’m really picky about horror (unsure if this is extreme horror or not) but this one seems very promising so far <3
