My middle schoolers read excerpts from A Midsummer Night’s Dream today and that script had them ROLLING. They want the local youth director to add it to the next season of performances.
They REALLY liked when Bottom (as Pyramus) said “now I am dead.”
Something Something what if the backstory of Thomas creativity splitting into roman n remus is literal Something Something what if there was a guy before them who just ceased to exist cause those 2 are there now Something Something as far as remus knows he was just some guy n then suddenly he had a fall from grace n became the black sheep Something Something i dunno insert existential horror here i am bad w words you get what I'm saying? You see the vision????
the fandom actually had a concept like that for a minute! we called him king creativity, and lots of angst was wrote about him. this is a great concept and king needs to come back to the fandom
Sadly the newest video kinda nuked the king out of existence with the whole. Younger sides barely existing thing. And Roman not always having been royal. And his past title being Vision.
Like. It's good we got some canon info on their pasts. But it was SO different from consensus that there isn't any room to insert that specific concept anymore.
Two things can be true at the same time. We know there’s something Orange and we didn’t see a younger Orange or a younger Remus, so give up King/Creativity/Romulus when I’m dead.
Just another post in case anyone misses it: this week's rec-list has been posted.
It's #69 this week, and the specific content related to the theme seems to have tripped tumblr's "uh-oh" filter. It isn't showing up in the tags for me, so I thought I'd make a second post in case anyone isn't seeing a notification.
super simple low-effort ao3 summary methods that are 1000% better and 1000% less annoying than just saying you suck at summaries:
copypaste the first few lines of the fic. u already wrote ‘em. let ‘em be their own damn hook
if ur feeling fancy & don’t mind showing ur hand a bit, copypaste the first few lines of the fic that u feel are esp. Important or Interesting - the ones where u first start getting into the real meat of things
state the main tropes! theyre probably already in ur tags - just say them again - maybe as a full sentence if ur feelin fancy. or with a joke if ur feelin Extra fancy
ask a question. pose a hypothetical. eg what happens if u take [character] and put them in [situation]?
make an equation. [character] + [thing] = [outcome]
just write like a one-sentence summary of what the fuck is going down. just one (1) sentence. doesnt matter if it doesn’t cover every important aspect. or if it sounds bland. any summary sentence is gonna be miles better than “idk i suck at summaries”
just…explain the fic like u would to a friend? it doesnt have to be a polished back of the book blurb. it can just be “[pairing] coffee shop au, but like, still with murder, and also i made everyone trans. enjoy”
just stick a meme in there
honestly who cares
just put literally anything but a self deprecating comment in there & ur golden
sometimes i wonder if we have forgotten that sharing creative work is, fundamentally, a bid for human connection. like I'm not posting art or fic for 'engagement' i'm posting it looking for other sickos to play with! i'd be making it anyway for my own gratification because there's something wrong with me, i'm sharing it hoping we can have something wrong with us together <3
They’d been there since the beginning but needed Creativity to give them form.
To give them names.
Heart, the holder of their feelings, including their sense of what was right. And what was wrong.
Curiosity, the keeper and seeker of knowledge.
Protection, the one who kept them safe from harm. And from punishment.
Over the years, their roles and their names would change, but they could never forget who they were, what they were meant to do. And most especially, they could never forget what they meant to each other.
I'm super excited to finally share this story. It started with At Any Price, my 2021 recursive fic of @magpiemorality's soft Free Hugs. In that story (spoiler), Logan and Remus are both touch-starved.
I couldn't stop thinking about what must have happened to have caused Janus, Mr. Self-Care and Self Preservation, to allow not one, but two of Thomas' Sides to become touch-starved.
What they don't tell you about writing is that as you write, you discover scenes and entire plots that you hadn't accounted for that need to be written. So you can spend two hours writing and editing only to realise you're further away from the finish line than you thought you were when you started
Roman forces Thomas to make an Ao3 account for him, and in posting plenty of his own works and interacting with other users, he strikes up an online friendship with another author.
Their writing styles are rather similar, and they seem to enjoy similar tags and situations. And though the authors works tend to be far more vulgar than Roman's usually are, he can certainly enjoy the character growth, interaction, dynamics, and the ideas the author explores in their writing. and whose to say he doesn't enjoy something more vulgar every once in a while?
And while he certainly doesn't write anything grotesque, the author tends to enjoy the tension and hardships the characters go through, even if Roman doesn't write with the exact same vulgarity, he can certainly write steamy romance.
Him and the anonymous author compliment each others works, and give each other constructive criticism, and any time it's Roman's turn to log on to his Ao3, he awaits a new comment.
One day Remus very proudly intrudes on Thomas's mind with a nightmare about something or other, and before Roman can rescue Thomas's head and turn it into a dream, he realizes the plot of the nightmare is almost exactly the same as a short fic he read by that author, except with his constructive criticism taken into account.
Nah but this is either some boarderline split personality stuff which is not how the sides work
OR
Thomas made 2 AO3 accounts for the 2 halves of his creativity and neither of them knew about the other account's existence even when the 2 accounts started INTERACTING which is absolutely hilarious Deceit's a bitch and I love him
Yeah the second one was what I was implying was going on. Thomas has been forced to make so many duplicate social media accounts and stuff so the sides can feel special.
