Audit the people in your life
Not everyone in your life deserves permanent access to you. And this isn’t about judging people, it’s about being honest with yourself. Pay attention to how your body feels around the people you spend time with
Ask yourself:
Do I feel calm or tense around them?
Do I feel at peace after being with them?
Do I feel confident around them?
Do I feel supported without having to explain myself?
Do I feel emotionally safe with them?
Do they respect my boundaries?
Do they really listen to me?
Do they respect me even when we disagree?
Do they celebrate my growth?
Do I feel like myself around them?
Do I hide parts of myself to keep the connection?
Do we share the same core values?
Do they want me to grow, or stay the same?
Do I feel energized or drained after spending time with them?
Do I feel grounded or overwhelmed after talking to them?
Do I trust them with my feelings?
Do I constantly make excuses for them?
Do they bring clarity or confusion into my life?
Do they approach me with curiosity, not judgment?
Do they take responsibility for their actions?
Do they respect my time and priorities?
Do I feel chosen and valued by them?
I’m going to journal about each one of those questions, starting tonight
