Uncoloured sketches depicting this user's sona (a humanoid deer-thing with sharp teeth in a sweater and a bow tie). In the first sketch, she has her eyes closed and a smile on her face, cheerfully telling someone offscreen: "so i am a really big fan of horror and generally awful concepts surrounding it. doesn't particularly matter what it is - if it's horrifying, then i'll love it to bits most likely." The second sketch depicts the user's sona holding a very tiny version of Crow from Nefarious in their hand, now with their eyes open and staring at him rather scary style, while Crow himself glares back. Continuing from the last panel, the user's sona then says: "which means i have the opportunity to something really funny here."ALT

i love horror and i love nefarious - so naturally, i put these things together in a blender to bring you a horror au that no one but myself has asked for, and that i have been working off and on for the last few months. <3

ergo, behold! all of my (mostly) uncoloured sketches/concepts/notes on this thing!!

Sketch of a rather nonplussed Crow with half of his mouth mutated. The note for this sketch reads as: "Venom meets the Thing type parasite-whatsit that functions on basic instinct, while Crow retains his intelligence and control over his limbs. It tends to 'mutate' when perceived danger is present, as its major goal is to keep him alive. Crow, on the other hand, is strangely nonchalant about the whole thing and even goes so far as to yell at it whenever it mutates in a way he deems useless."ALT
Sketch of a severely mutated Crow, doubled over a table with both brows raised and saying "well, this is new." notes in the bottom right corner read as: "Fun, but can't use this anymore. (Lore has been altered since drawing was made; it no longer fits within the AU)"ALT
Three sketches of Crow, with various mutations. One specifically involving his mouth, with a wide smile and strangely arranged teeth. Another depicts him with a gaping mouth-like opening in his side and an arrow pointing at it reading "mouth?" It also depicts him staring at it and thinking to himself "what if I put my hand in it. Would I be able to touch my ribs." A third depicts him grinning manically, with eyes and teeth-like growths in his arm. - Notes for these sketches read as: "parasite is meant to influence its host in order to keep itself alive, but crow is built different. so instead, he's poking and prodding and experimenting with it in order to use it to his advantage very early on. it's kind of fun silly times, especially since mutations 'revert back' like they never happened during this stage. rule of cool there."ALT
Sketch of Crow with half of his face and upper body cast in shadow. Extra eyes can be seen on his neck and one below his cheek, and a row of twisted teeth poking from his mouth. Notes for this drawing reads as: "okay, but what if the parasite started learning how to properly influence crow and the mutations started being a lot more permanent. he still maintains his intelligence and awareness but is a bit more antsy due to the parasite's desire to keep him alive."ALT
Sketch of a relatively mutated, and relatively annoyed Crow. His right arm is incredibly long, with a tentacle littered with eyes and teeth wrapped around it. There are also teeth in the side of his neck and along his left arm and right upper leg. Some type of fluid drips from his breastplate, and his lower jaws have split open; blood presumably drips from it and a long tongue dangles uselessly. - Notes for this sketch reads as: "ohh it could influence crow to wear his armour more often because it's like a protective shell and eventually fuses it to him to keep it on, consequences be damned. he is soft and gooey in there and the parasite fills in damage the mutations cause with organic material." - "(Technicite is highly conductive, so if he was electrocuted here, he would smell HORRIBLE. hell, he already does. because of the mutating thing. its gross it's all gross.)" - "(i think the only mutation that might 'revert back' at this point is his jaw splitting open. he cant eat like that, which would be a problem since that's the only mouth connected to his stomach. and that's kind of the only thing fueling its ability to continuously mutate.)"ALT
Sketch involving Crow resting his chin on Becky's head, causing her to wear a relatively outraged expression. Notes for this drawing reads as, "Note: it is not narratively compelling to me to infect Becky with one of these as well, so she is safe in that regard. However, since the parasite is used to her presence and therefore currently doesn't view her as a threat (yet), she has to deal with Crow up and doing this to her. She is very normal about this. Trust." - A note below the sketch effectively calls her out by reading as, "Frowning: really bad. Emotions: incomprehensible."ALT
Sketch of Crow with a blanket over his upper body, with the inclusion of mantis arms poking out from his sides (though only one can be viewed from this angle). A note at the top of the screen reads as "this is the only way crow can get the parasite to calm down and not make his heart give out from the stress and strain its putting on it. the thing is a little bird-brained' things covering all of the extra eyes make it feel safe enough to let them both rest." - One arrow points at him reads as "arms tucked under blanket." Another above him reads as "too big to comfortably fit on beds anymore so he's on the floor." a third and final one below him reads as "at some point i fear that the blanket would eventually be too small to do this anymore, so he would likely have to hole himself away in pitch darkness instead"ALT
Somewhat of a symbolic sketch depicting Crow with purely yellow eyes and matching headlamps, holding some type of honey-like substance to his mouth. Notes for this sketch reads as: "parasite species has a tendency to force their host body to spit up a honey-like substance full of eggs in another new host body's mouth to ensure infection, usually only when they either are actually dying or believe they're dying. it can also be collected and stored for a long period of time; the eggs won't hatch until they're in a host body." - "the eggs merge into one parasite upon being hatched and digested, effectively becoming a hivemind. this effects their host body's mind as well; the more eggs ingested by the host, the stronger the resulting parasite's ability to meld with their host becomes. crow is a rare case where he didn't ingest that many eggs, giving his resulting parasite a weaker ability, hence why he maintains his intelligence."ALT
Sketch of Crow with a dark reddish fluid dripping over the edge of his breastplate, looking off screen. Notes for this sketch reads as: "In later stages of infection, host bodies begin to produce a thick, almost syrupy enzyme. Its sugary sweet scent acts as a lure for the parasite's host body; once smelled, the enzyme has a tendency to make their prey want to stand closer to them, making it much easier to attack or hunt those who would otherwise run away from them." - "It constantly drips out from mouth-like openings in the host's body, though are technically holes with teeth lined around said openings (some of which may not be properly formed, depending on location on the body). In certain circumstances, the host body's actual mouth can produce this substance as well."ALT
Sketched panels of Crow and Becky, the first panel depicting Becky having pushed open a door and looking rather unimpressed, and the second depicting Crow being caught in the act of eating his own enzymes. Notes for this comic read as: "Becky has caught Crow eating it at least once. They both agree that this occurrence never happened."ALT
Closeup sketches for an updated look at the teeth scattered around infected host bodies (especially Crow's). However, notes for four sketches read as "Update: tooth-like growths in the host body (whether from 'mouth-like openings' [or] scattered across the limbs/torso) will be now be drawn like this. It would be interesting if they were horns that look like sharp teeth." - The final sketch at the bottom depicts crooked teeth, and the note for it reads as: "The teeth in the host body's actual mouth are still just the host's teeth. That will not be changed."ALT
Three sketches depicting earlier mutations for Crow. The first depicts him with a longer right arm and the tentacle tightly coiled around it, two eyes in his left bicep, and him looking rather nonplussed with an arrow reading "the face of a man unsurprised" pointing at him. The second depicts him examining his new mutations in his right arm, appearing intrigued. The third depicts him holding his right arm out, wearing a mischievous grin. All three feature the inclusion of cracks throughout his right arm and hand. - Notes near the top left read as: "Technically speaking, the first permanent mutation was fusing Crow to his armour. He did attempt to pry himself out of it, which in turn caused the parasite to freak out when he managed to get one of the shoulders off and mutate again." - A second note pointing at the second sketch reads as: "fascinated by the implication of the parasite being able to affect his tech." A third above the third sketch reads as: "he has no idea what this has done to his bombs/grenades and he is extremely eager to find out."ALT

at one point simply titled "parasite au," the parasite crow au basically features some strange nightmarish magical parasite i invented and giving it to crow nefarious simply because it's funny (to me) and i love putting my favourite characters in horrible situations. <3

some of these sketches are technically outdated (though the notes are not) as i'm still refining the au even after all this time, but are still included because i like them. there are two coloured references at this time, but are being saved for a later point in time.

[ps: it would have been easy to have him fall to the whims of the parasite and effectively have him become a beast/monster, but i think its much more interesting to have him in the driver's seat and have him remain fully aware. :)]

Why does this AU exist? The answer is simple: I came across some type of trailer or ad for a game with a similar concept (parasite wanting to mutate its host to protect them and itself) and the voiceover/narrator(?) sounded a lot like Crow’s VA.

Was it actually Crow’s VA? I have no idea. Can I tell you what that game was? No. But all that can be said for certain is that the gears meshed together for this one, and now this exists. Huzzah. I love horror. <3

I feel like this might be my only infection AU where I do actually want to include that classic staple of stat charts, but I have decided not jot them down as percentages. I’ve decided it’s much more compelling to have them be observations from a specific character. This character changes later on, but I’m not going to lie to you, the first who does that is Becky because I love her and. Yes. Why not.

I have always loved stat charts as they appear in other infection AUs; they’re useful for what they’re made for! But, for some reason, I’ve noticed that I’ve never been able to remember any percentages for a previous chart upon viewing a new one. Which means I can never remember what has changed for a character since last time!

So I figured doing this instead would be interesting. No percentages to remember, just some plain old — perhaps not entirely reliable or completely accurate — observations and what not. For example, HEALTH could be written as: “Still relatively healthy. No changes have been noted. Monitor for any changes.”

(No changes have been noted predictably means that Becky has not noted any changes in this current stat, likely due to nothing changing since the last time she took notes on it. Or everything’s the same as they’ve always been, as far as she can observe at the moment. Monitor for any changes means that she is very specifically keeping her eye out on this stat. Her exact reasons for doing so will vary, but are never included because they are not relevant to the chart.)

(Stats will sometimes include Undetermined, which is where the “perhaps not entirely reliable or predictable” comes in; sometimes she effectively cannot tell what is going on, or Crow is hiding anything because he doesn’t want to talk about it. Or he just doesn’t know how. Who knows. But regardless, Becky will still write any observations under that stat if they come up. Though, in that case, she’ll write Undetermined with a question mark for punctuation.)

How does the second character write stats? I’m not sure yet. Do I know who that character is? Yes, I do! Am I going to tell you that is? Not right now. :)

Okay hi, so I have like. Rewritten the observation notes as I’m now calling since I started so this isn’t a billion percent correct anymore. But close enough! I’ll be showing it off at some point soon. <3

Anonymous asked:

you’re like the only constant Nefarious artist I’ve seen please continue to be it really helps your shit is so good

electrozeistyking answered:

I’m doing my part!!!! So anyway take a bunch of stuff I haven’t shown off here yet (in some type of order)

Coloured illustration of Crow from Nefarious in a dress. The dress has an X on the breast, curling over the shoulder straps, and it is split down the sides. Crow is additionally wearing a pair of boots that go up his shins and gloves that go up to his elbows (though one hasn’t been drawn in this particular image to show off his prosthetic/mechanical hand). He has a big shit eating grin and text beside him points out how the artist gave Crow boots knowing that they personally feel powerful with boots that go up to their shins.ALT
The exact same image as previous, just with the inclusion of Crow’s second glove.ALT
Different illustration of Crow in the same dress as previous, just with the inclusion of a gnarly pair of sunglasses. Like before, his right glove is missing to show off that hand.ALT
Same image as previous, just with the inclusion of Crow’s right glove.ALT
Coloured illustration of Mack and Crow for the Flying Cackling Freak AU (as Crow has a pair of wings here). Mack is staring at the camera, clearly unimpressed by the situation, while Crow stares back at him with the feathers on his wings fluffed up and half of his face obscured in shadow. The image is captioned “what’s this bird mad about”.ALT

[flying cackling freak au piece. he just doesn’t like people standing near his wings or potentially touching them. smacking people with them is a different story, but he will keep his eye on anyone if they start standing anywhere near his wings.]

Doodle of regular old Crow with his lips being pinched shut and the word “SHUT” over him. He is clearly outraged.ALT
Front view for this user’s take on Crow’s design. Text over him reads “Get it, Crow, give us whatever this stance is” while faint text near one of his legs reads as “congrats on your fucking thunder thighs btw”ALT
Front view for this user’s take on Becky Rockler’s design. A doodle of a “boxier” looking hand (with more squared looking fingers) is beside her with the text “what if her hands were like this. distinct?”ALT
Same image as previous, just without the inclusion of Becky’s coat.ALT
Front view for this user’s updated take on Princess Mayapple’s design. (Major design update is that parts of her gloves are no longer spiked, and that they instead end with a ring of yellow.)ALT
Front view of this user’s take on Mayapple’s hero knight armour featured in the comics.ALT
Front view for this user’s updated take on Mack’s design. He has round things on the sides of his helmet.ALT
Two different speculations of what armour like Crow’s looks like under the breastplate. The first one apparently reminds the user/artist of Spider-Man. Text in the first panel reads as “I don’t know what armour like this in Nefarious looks like under that chest/breastplate (tbh it could have been shown off somewhere and I’ve just never seen it) but in my head it looks like this because it’s funny.” (Another note in this panel reads as “I’m using Crow’s as an example because I like him and want to hit him with ten billion hammers until he dies.”) Text in the second panel reads as “though tbh it could be more like this, which is fine too.”ALT

[I then proceeded to look closer at a specific location in game and went “ah shit it’s the second one. well at least I got it right for crow, technically?”]

Doodles of Crow being very smug. The first doodle depicts him with swords being pointed at his throat, while the other depicts him with his hand tucked under his chin.ALT
Another doodle of Crow, this time confused. Shapes and question marks float around his head as he evidently tries to make sense of whatever he’s looking at offscreen.ALT
Doodle of a rather annoyed Crow.ALT
Redraw of a poster found in game. It depicts Crow covered in shadow staring down at a robot with his hand raised over his head, clearly ready to swing down and crush them. The text reads as “HE’S WAITING TO STRIKE.”ALT
Coloured illustration of this user’s sona (being Zeisty) and Crow for a thumbnail. Zeisty is on Crow’s shoulders fingers hooked into Crow’s mouth and tucking on his lips to piss him off. It is smiling in anger/annoyance, while veins pop out in the back of its hand and forehead. Crow glares back at Zeisty, hand shaking in rage as a red glowing string tied around both of their wrists prevents him from fighting back.ALT
Another thumbnail featuring Crow and Zeisty. In the background, Zeisty has a hand on a canvas and looks back at Crow, smug. In the foreground, Crow is staring at the viewer, deadpan. The text on the canvas reads as, “OOPS: ALL TORMENT NEXUSES. you’re screwed, bird boy”ALT
A third thumbnail featuring Crow and Zeisty in a snowy location. Crow is buried halfway in the snow, with only his arms and half of his face visible. He looks on in annoyance as Zeisty pokes him with a stick.ALT
A fourth thumbnail of Crow and Zeisty, this time in the kingdom of Sukochi. Crow is laying in the “Family Guy Death Pose,” while Zeisty looks down at him and ponders with a hand to her chin.ALT
Coloured illustration of Crow looking incredibly distraught and throwing back his head, yelling “OAUGH…. I’M BUT A SIMPLE VILLAIN”ALT
Coloured illustration of a very jaded Crow smoking a fat fucking blunt. Regretfully, he laments how mistakes were made.ALT
A two panel comic drawing of a very small Crow having a magnifying glass pointed at him. He looks very angry.ALT
Two panels of an uncoloured comic featuring Kid Corvid (or just Corvid), a small clone of Crow. It has been drawn outraged and angry in both panels, though is pointing at someone off screen in the second. Its dialogue reads as: “HOW DARE YOU??? CRUELTY UPON ME??? YOU ROTTEN LOUSY PIGEON? YOU WRETCHED SHAMEFUL, DEPLORABLE MAN. LOUSY BAG OF BOLTS.”ALT
Continuation of the previous panels, revealing Crow and Corvid have been playing a card game of sorts. Crow, wearing a smug shit-eating grin, lies through his teeth and tells Corvid that “I didn’t do anything to you.” Corvid throws its cards into the air and yells “DAMN YOU”ALT

[kid corvid jumpscare]

Three separate headshots for different takes on Crow as he ages. The first one depicts him being around 7 to 9, the second depicts him allegedly being around 16, and the last one depicts him as he clearly stands (being 22). These drawings are supposed to imply his nose got less red as he aged. Text for for the first drawing reads as follows: “Fuck you (shrinks your Crow). 7 or 8 years old??? maybe 9. who knows. kid’s got a bright red nose because it’s important to me that he looks like that.” Text for the second drawing reads as follows: “you do not look serious, bud. you just look extremely nervous. 16, prolly. it’s funny to me that he’s a very awkward-looking teenager who has yet to grow into some of his facial features.” (‘funny to me’ being used the same way as ‘important to me’) Text for the third drawing reads as follows: “THAT’S THE BITCH (sparkling heart emoji). did you know this guy is 22 years old. fucken wild that’s how old I am at the time of drawing this. anyway here’s the stupid bird bitch in my brain”ALT

[video featuring a drawing of crow in a dog cone, presumably yelling in anger. the artist behind this drawing (being zeisty) can be heard giggling and then barking like a dog. the screen shakes at that part, then stop as zeisty begins laughing again.]
