Idk if anyone wants to use this, but just in case, I’d like to be asked first, and credited. I can’t think of a reason I’d say no, I just want to be aware that this thing is floating around so I never click on anyone’s blog and get jumpscared lmao

Pinned Post I MADE THIS IN KRITA AND DEAR GOD IS IT TRUE described images (for once. i'm going to try and do that more often that was surprisingly easy)

I know sirens are associated with the ocean to the point of frequently being depicted as essentially mermaids, but I think it’d be a fun jumpscare to have them show up in other places. They’ve also been depicted as more birdlike and you can find birds pretty much anywhere (maybe there’s different varieties of siren just like there are different varieties of bird and some of them don’t live near the ocean). You’re not safe from sirens just because you’re in the desert bitch they’re gonna lure you into walking straight off a cliff

(Honestly they’d fit pretty well into one of those stories that mostly exists to tell people not to go too far into forests. What’s that beautiful sound? None of your business and it’s probably trying to eat you)

sirens you can also put the aquatic variety in different bodies of water with roughly the same excuse freshwater sirens. lake sirens river sirens swamp sirens there's a siren in your local irrigation ditch and literally no one wants her to be there including her but everyone is too afraid to approach her to get her out ...okay that's fun too. dammit maybe ''siren'' is just a label appended to any creature with a beautiful mind-altering voice? and so both kinds of siren (aquatic and avian) exist and they MIGHT be related but no one's exactly sure because they don't share much besides that one (admittedly very important) trait and they're hard to study because of their hypnotic voices and homicidal tendencies also they're sentient creatures so there's only so much you're allowed to do to them in the name of science you're allowed to kill them in self-defense but that doesn't mean you can just Do Whatever with the body people have gotten away with taking a bit of blood or hair but anything bigger tends not to go over well with the surviving sirens
