Funny how your perspective on a book can change when you get older. Reading my favorite book series from when I was like 13, my main takeaway was that the magic was cool and the world was neat and dark and sexy and it had hot characters and characters I related to as a mentally unwell young person. And then I reread it as an adult and went WOAH CALM DOWN THERE.
It is absolutely gleeful about being as dark and edgy as humanly possible in completely gratuitous ways that do a lot to strip the themes of any substance….
But there are hot men and the magic system is still pretty cool…so 13 year old me was right about that part.

ive always rly liked the idea of a member of a group of adventurers having what everyone assumes is very well trained hawk and then at the end of their journey its casually revealed that thats actually just his buddy whos a shapeshifter and just rly likes being a hawk
the guy also like thinks everyone knows bc he never tries to hide the fact that the hawk is a person but everyone assumes hes always just joking. like the others being like "damn its crazy how he knows exactly what you want him to do its like he knows english or something." and the guy is just like "well yeah thats his first language so ofc he's fluent??" and they all go "haha good one" and move on, leaving him confused
they just think hes a quirky guy that really loves his pet and says things like "the 9 of us" even tho there are clearly only 8 people! he just cares about the bird so much he counts it as a group member haha !

I really have drawn something every day this month so far. Is it all great? No. A lot of it is memes or stuff thats closely referenced or partially traced or whatever, but in the end that doesnt really matter. We are focusing on quantity right now haha.
I get into this thing where I sit down to draw and im like “i have to Draw Something” and it feels like a chore because I dont know what I want to draw and its been so long that the motions aren’t coming easily. Which is the point of this.
Just getting Something out of my hands right now is progress.
