Now that I've read your ask about Dad!Snape, I have a question that I don't know if you've answered before because I can't remember. But what would happen if he found out that his s/o is pregnant, without it being planned? How would he react when he found out? And later on? Would he be happy, angry, scared, anxious, worried?

He would absolutely freak out.

He will get furious and panic, act like an asshole, make them cry then feel extremely guilty about it and retreat to sulk and feel bad.

At some point he’d manage to calm down and try to talk with his s/o (not sure he’ll apologize for being an ass tho) and convince them this is the worst idea ever. He doesn’t want kids, he doesn’t like kids and he has no confidence in himself to be a father.

If they decide to keep it, it would be because his s/o really want it and he has to really think about it. And/or maybe there’s the war and despite all the danger, he finds something in him yearning for a future.

But if it happens during the war, he’ll do everything in his power to hide them and this could potentially break them apart too.

Humor me with mpreg Snape. You get to choose the father. Rage-sex with Sirius? SA from James? Maybe a drunk night with Gilderoy or even Albus? I'm bored and want to know your opinion.

Wow.

I’m so not into mpreg.

But if I HAD to choose and read it, the father would be Sirius. And it would be from a potion-accident then followed by sex (but they’re in a committed somewhat stable relationship) and chaos ensues because Snape wants to get rid of it and Sirius is freaking out and is okay with it then not okay then okay then not okay (because he has ancestry issues kicking in about producing an heir) and in the end Snape looses the child because of ungodly stress and then everything gets super depressing for a while because Snape is so relieved (even tho his body just suffered trauma) and Sirius is angry and grieving and isn’t able to support him and they’re both lonely angry assholes towards each other.

At some point their work it out and get a dog.

i dont want to be in a fandom that critisizes the choices of fictional characters like they are human beings. i want to see THEORY and ANALYSIS and STORY STRUCTURE and CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT!! I WANT PARALLELS AND MOTIFS AND VISUAL CUES!!! They're not REAL they are TOOLS so stop acting like they are people who made bad choices and should be punished. of course they made bad choices!!! that shit is funny and cool to watch!!

So in CoS it's pretty obvious the whole staff can't stand Lockhart. He would still bore them to death with tales about himself (would he too much tho? they're his old professors, they may not all be that gullible so maybe he'd keep that for the students) but it's certain Snape wouldn't be able to stand him and make it pretty clear.

My question is then - if the premise for some crack Snockart is that Snape wants to hex his face every morning before he has a chance to open his mouth - do you think Gilderoy could get somewhat obsessed with the only person who openly ignores him and waht to win him over... or would he be somewhat uncomfortable to see that someone is not buying it and thus, avoid them at all cost?

Not that I ship them but I am curious about your opinion on Gilderoy's psyche.

saintsenara replied

no, of course this would work.

not least because snape doesn’t ignore lockhart. he lets it be known as much as he can that lockhart annoys him - when he’s seething about the valentine’s day bonanza, when he’s seething about lockhart offering to make the mandrake draught, when he’s seething about volunteering to help with the duelling club, when he’s delighted he volunteered to help with the duelling club because it makes lockhart look dumb, when he remembers everything lockhart has ever said about the chamber of secrets so that he can make him go there after ginny’s taken, and so on.

lockhart is a man who knows that love and hatred are two sides of the same coin - the thing one actually needs to worry about is indifference. he makes a series of wild - and wildly inaccurate - claims about how he’s best friends with one of the most famous potioneers in the world, snape flies at him in a rage, lockhart is bent over one of the dungeon workbenches five minutes later.

the relationship is sustained entirely by ragebaiting - snape calls lockhart’s magnificent peach-damask robes “poncy” and gets dragged into a broom cupboard; lockhart begs to be allowed to put a cheeky facemask on snape and ends up with a different kind of facial instead - but finds its way towards accidentally working quite well when snape is surprisingly unbothered by the revelation that lockhart’s a fraud because he’s never respected him and therefore has no need to change his opinion or behaviour.

plus, knowing that the two of them are together sends dumbledore spiralling [the goth-peacock thing brings up all his repressed riddledore fantasies], which snape finds funny. a similar thing happens when lockhart meets voldemort.

Truth is, I’m really tired these days.

I’m tired of welcoming my friend’s grief about his relationship or my mom’s grief about my dad. I’m tired of carrying my own grief because there’s nothing I can really do about it except get used to it but damn does it slap me in the face sometimes. One cheek then the other.

I want to draw but I feel worn out and don’t have any inspiration about anything.

I want to spend more time with my partner but he’s got things to do. And I want to be able to just rest by his side and give all these feelings a place to be where I’m safe… but it’s a struggle to actually make said space exist because I just want to enjoy his presence and have fun.

I have a headache.

What endearments do you think Snape would use for a significant other? Would he ever allow himself such vulnerability?

Oh yes I think he would, but like most of my answers, I’ll say: in time.

Give him at least a year and a half to be comfortable.

If you like a snarky Snape, he’d first call you names as you get to know him (he’s 100% insulting you) and it’d turn in terms of endearment with time (I’m mostly imagining potion or dark arts stuff).

With a more reserved Snape, either he starts reciprocating ‘casually’ after his partner has been doing it for a while (and when he does the first time there’s a little silence and he knows they’re surprised and taking it in and it’s making him self-conscious he won’t show it) or he’ll say it the first time during a meaningful conversation while locking eyes with them and holding them close.

With more classics terms of endearments I think he’d go for 'Dear’, or 'Love’.

I’d be super down to know what kind of endearments were used around Cokeworth in the Black Country tho. A quick research told me 'sweetheart’ and 'treacle’ were a thing but who knows... Anyone?
