Introduction
Hi, new blog, who dis?

I got locked out of my actual blog and don't know when I'll get it back, so this is going to be either my new temporary or permanent blog. I'm using the opportunity to start over on a blank slate, but if you were a mutual of mine I'm probably going to tell you my old URL.

Pronouns: he/him, masculine or neutral terms only

Feel free to send me asks or DMs, I see them although I may not always respond. All likes, reblogs, tags and comments are always welcome unless explicitly stated otherwise.

Minors can interact, but I am an adult and have a tag for 18+ posts. If you're not an adult, please stay away from those posts and block the tag if you don't want to see that stuff. You can find it at the bottom under the cut. Also I'd prefer if you don't follow me if you're younger than 18, if you're under 15 I'm going to actively soft block you.

Something about Ash’s mum forcing Mr Mime to sit on the floor and eat out of a dog bowl makes me uneasy

I dunno….

Trans men do not have male privilege.

“B-b-but what about trans men who look exactly like cis men! Stealthing trans men have male privilege!”

They aren’t being awarded privilege for being a trans man. They’re being awarded privilege for an incorrect assumption that they’re cis. This may be what some trans men want—to be seen exactly the same as cis men—however this is not the reality of trans men as a whole.

Trans men, as trans men, are not awarded male privilege. We do not live in a society which will see trans men who are open about being trans as being truly a man at this point—it’s not transphobic to acknowledge that the majority of society at this point is still, unfortunately, transphobic.

Anonymous asked:

I always see the argument "well gay men don't have a specific word to describe their discrimination, it's just homophobia" and it drives me crazy because... yes they do. The reason I bring this up is because the coiner of the term gayphobia was specifically a black gay man.

I actually looked this up to confirm and you are correct: gayphobia was coined by a black man in the early 2000s, to discuss the difference between the way homophobia manifests against lesbians vs gay men.

As usual, black people have been talking about this for ages. Whenever anyone else decides to catch on.

the dutch bike helmet discourse is still so funny. scores of indignant dutch people going on about how they dont need to wear helmets because everybody is used to bike based stuff and knows how to handle themselves, periodically interjected by people who work in emergency rooms in the netherlands talking about how many cases of bike fall related head trauma they see regularly.

dutch person: unlike you stupid americans, we have ample bike infrastructure and everybody knows how to navigate bike lanes

dutch ER worker: half of the people i treat are in the ER because they cracked their head on the pavement. my job would be easier if our country wore helmets.

#people legitimately getting mad and arguing against bike helmets is so fucking funny #it's up there with people who think they don't need a first aid kit #because those are for people who do dangerous things #'i don't need that safety precaution because nothing bad happens to people who are good' - things smart people say (tags via @unpretty)

Pro-abortion rights are not just for women. I see a lot of advocacy posts (which are good!) that only say stuff like “women” and “she/her” about this general body of people that can get pregnant. Friendly reminder that women are not the only people that can get pregnant or have an abortion and pro-abortion rights should be for everyone.

i love the sonic adventure 2 battle intro cause of that stupid animation knuckles has in it

It actually says “KUCKLE”

youve heard of "hrt should be free for everyone who wants it" now get ready for chromosome testing & ultrasounds should be free for everyone who wants it

this post is about intersex people

At this point I'm not sure if they're just being dense or willfully erasing us as usual. Possibly a mix of that. It's really hard to tell until you get their personal opinions on what intersex even is tbh

Anyways I support this very much, especially since our variations can mean needing significant adjustments in healthcare.

BUT. It has to be properly confidential and safeguarded or it'll just be abused and used as a way to track us like they're doing with those "ancestry kits".....

Every perisex person derailing in the reblogs going 'actually all healthcare should be free🤓' , as someone who comes from somewhere where healthcare is (mostly) free, intersex care is not only unreliable but essentially non existent. If you want to get diagnosed with an intersex condition or suspect that you have one, you will 100% have to pay out of your own pocket because doctors historically do not like intersex folk. A system where all care is hypothetically free, is not completely separated from the biases of doctors and other health care professionals who would rather brush you under the rug because they personally do not believe intersex people are real.

It very much is the "all lives matter" statement of healthcare. Like no actually if perisex people get free healthcare in my country it's a given for them like in basically all countries that already have it. Guess what, intersex specific care still isn't free alot of the time! Alternatively it isn't even there!

Just like there's widespread push for trans healthcare to be included in that, we need to push for intersex specific healthcare too.

The fact that “dolls having a tea party” has stuck around in the public consciousness is fascinating to me.

Like, back in the Old Days that would be a way that women would actually socialize.  So if a girl had a doll tea party, she was imitating her mom / other contemporary women.

But these days contemporary women don’t have tea parties. So now, the idea of “dolls having a tea party” is an echo of an extinct behavior, only repeated and referenced because it used to be so prevalent.

So a Barbie in a big hat themed for a tea party is a bit like if they made Transformers that turned into stagecoaches and horse-drawn buggies.

Like I wouldn’t buy the fuck out of stagecoach transformers
