Brave and the Bold #102

Early Bronze Age (I still consider this part of Silver Age as after these issues the series goes on hiatus as this was the 70s and comics were really not doing well during this time period you could conceptually jump here but i recommend jumping at the 1976 revival either way.. this is very very short)

Teen Titans Vol. 1 #40-43

1976 Revival/Bronze Age (the short lived revival of the series, the art is really really nice and introduces you to Titans West who are important to Lilith Clays as well as Gar, Bumblebee and Heralds characters you could jump here if you genuinely want too it gives good context to the Titans break up that leads into NTT)

1976-1978

Teen Titans Vol. 1 #44-53

DC Special Series #11 (1978)

Showcase #100 (1978)

The New Titans Era (We kick this era off with Donna Troy Origin Fuckery.. good story tho.. Wolfman admits he wished this had never happened and that they could’ve been able to keep it as it was before.. you can tell he loses a lot of passion in this series and as a result the quality slips, due to many circumstances Editorial meddling, slipping sales etc. it becomes… awful!)

Geoff Johns Era (In this Era we get Geoff Johns’ Teen Titans Run, as well as Judd Winicks Outsiders run, which I will count here, Infinite Crisis happens, and theres some emotional stuff, I enjoy this era although for Titans personally again im biased as it was one of my first Teen Titans runs, and I love Geoff Johns, Judd Winicks Outsiders is a good read as well, i’ll definitely include Infinite Crisis cause Conners death is important to latter issues, and the titans do have a bigger role in it then they do in the first crisis it is an optional read but just adding it)

And TITANS TOGETHER!!

cryingalexanders:

Earth-One Lex Luthor Traits

Sick and tired of people spreading nonsense about one of my favourite characters and denigrating the pre-crisis version of him, so I’m starting an education campaign about his character traits, particularly the ones going back to the silver age!

Questionable heroics

image
image

Source: Adventure Comics #271, Superman #164

image

Source: Superman #416

  • Silver age Lex did actually try to be a hero in Smallville, but it went wrong and he gave up. It wasn’t about losing his hair (though later stories did make that conflation). But Lex occasionally doing heroic things was a theme throughout this era.

Lying and manipulation

image

Source: Adventure Comics #271

image

Source: Action Comics #544

  • Lex does this when he’s trying to control and manoeuvre things and get his way.

Hero-worship

image

Source: Adventure Comics #271

image

Source: Superman #416

Lashing out

image
image

Source: Superman #161, Superman #292

image

Source: Superman #416

  • While he’s known for his wider-scale cruelties, Lex also has this tendency to fall back on petty cruelty when he feels off-balance. This ranges from name-calling to visceral threats.

Jealousy and projection

image

Source: Adventure Comics #271

image

Source: Superman #386

  • It’s never clear how aware Lex is that he’s doing this, but in the post-Lexor storyline it did explicitly cross over into genuine delusion.

Emotional insecurity/abandonment issues

image

Source: Superman #292

image

Source: Action Comics #512

  • Lex has this tendency to undervalue or disbelieve how much he means to somebody. One issue heavily implied that this sense of abandonment was the root of why he wouldn’t believe Superboy’s entreaties to him.

Protectiveness

image
image

Source: Superman’s Girl Friend, Lois Lane #23, Action Comics #295

image

Source: Adventure Comics #387

  • Lex would be protective of specific people to the point of self-sacrifice, in particular Lena and her son Val.

Inadvertently hurting/endangering the people he wants to protect

image

Source: Adventure Comics #388

image

Source: Superman Family #214

  • Lex’s protectiveness was interesting because he would continue to do so even when they hated him or he made them hate him.

Spying on people

image

Source: Action Comics #317

Rushing into marriages

image

Source: Action Comics #318

Doting on children

image
image

Source: Action Comics #295, Action Comics #544

Callousness towards children

image

Source: Action Comics #407

  • The thing is not that Lex categorically protects or refuses to hurt children. He has no compunctions about threatening and traumatising them the same as he would an adult.

Preoccupation with his legacy

image

Source: Superman #286

  • Lex had a sense of pride over his villainous legacy.

Fighting with (and usually losing to) other villains

image

Source: Superman #286

  • His attempts to control, corral or dominate other villains would inevitably fail. They would often target or double-cross him as well.

Ennui

image

Source: The Joker #7

image

Source: Heroes Against Hunger

  • This was more subtle, but Lex being ambiguously depressed is an idea we have seen since.

Obsession as his downfall

I love your character designs and version of Conner, Jon, Jaime :) Can I ask? Would you be willing to draw your version of Damian Wayne and/or Irey West?

I know it’s not much, anon, but at least I’ve tried.

LOOK

LOOK AT THEM

I LOVE THEM SO MUCH

THE KING AND HIS VERY TALL QUEENS

I need to redraw that yesterday

After the meteorite shower

Also, Lionel using his jacket to wrap it around his irradiated son was just too perfect for me not to do it.
Like I get it, he’s a huge jerk. But I wanted to show how he used to love his son (in his own twisted way) (especially when he was an innocent and malleable kid).
That man got dirt, blood and ash all over him, rummaging through the earth and burning meteorite pieces, until he found Lex in that field that day

I hadn’t considered this duo before but it could be a really fun dynamic to see someday!!

maxtalkscomics:

So rob the justice league is over, and…well that was definitely a ending…not bad not good, just a ending, is it A ending of all time? Idk. I’m not even mad the series started off good but when they brought Lian in, it just made the story weaker and with how titans 30 ending I thought something absolutely massive was going to happen…but no

So that means I can rant about titans 30, will I? I don’t know. Like usually I would go into character and go on a massive tirade but, either I’m just so stunned on how that ending played out or I’m just blank on what to say, I mean there’s what happened with cheetah but that requires me to go into a whole essay about redemption and stuff and

Yeah I got nothing, I don’t know if I will rant about the titans 30 ending or even the possible repercussions or even how Lian was written ooc but yeah

Rob the justice league wasn’t bad, it was just misguided

Have a good night everyone, and uh yeah. Honestly I’m just going to be focusing on how north is writing the flash from now on

mailbubblez:

Lowk hate when people characterize Superman or Clark Kent as just some himbo idiot😭. Yes Clark Kent is supposed to be unassuming and under appreciated and yes Superman is supposed to be trusting and kind but at the end of the day he is still a high achieving investigative journalist?? Sometimes people write him as the type of person to say “woah Batman back up and repeat that in English” during JL debriefs, but there’s no way he isn’t at least keeping up with Bruce when he goes on his long detective rants. Sure he might not be on the World’s Greatest Detective’s level of cracking cases but, with his reporter mind and ability to hear heartbeats and minute changes in breathing patterns, he’s definitely the one Batman goes to to bounce ideas off of. If anything, he probably gets just as into a case as Batman. The rest of the JL would be stuck running errands for them till they make a break in whatever case they’re working on.
