the concept that mike feels like he’s the one who lost will kills me.

him looking back on every moment, every time he pushed him away and how he felt it push will further from his grasp. him feeling like will was running, and he stood still for far too long and now will’s too far away to ever catch up to.

every time he argued with will, he felt the pureness of their friendship falter more and more until will was too far down the line of processing his feelings towards mike, before mike had even started realising his own.

mike had lost will before he’d even realised he could have him.

when you put the mike wheeler having a vivid dream that him and will kiss fries on the mike waking up in a cold sweat burger with a looking at will differently the next day milkshake

the “hopefully” in this clip always gets me because noah 100% really wanted byler to happen and it makes me sad to think about how he not only had to do his coming out scene for 12 hours but then read the finale script only to realise mike and will never talk about it. then, had to fearfully ask for them to add in a scene of them at least talking about it.

im not on the conformitygate train anymore but,

rewatching s4 at the moment and i think its interesting that in nancys description of what vecna showed her, she says “my mom, holly.. mike.. they were all..” (hurt)

in s5, karen and holly go through the ringer, right? so we know that basically every part of nancy’s vision came true apart from mike in peril. all the things she described in her vision happen in season 5.

the only inconsistency is mike not getting physically hurt or targeted by vecna. you could argue that mike gets launched at by the demogorgon but he doesnt actually get hurt or shown in any awful situations.

so, what in nancy’s vision of mike could’ve been even slightly comparable to her mom gutted on the floor and her sister being caught and tortured by vecna?

im sorry i truly just cant understand the van scene.

like what was the genuine point? i need an interviewer to ask them because… was the point to push mike and el’s relationship closer together? was that genuinely the reason? because without any resolution or follow up, that is the only thing left to explain why that scenes there if we follow canon logic.

in the shows canon (so ignoring ‘they planned and didnt follow through’ ‘it was set up to be byler and shutdown’) that scene is so out of place—it’s literally just a queer kid being exploited to make a straight couple fight for each other. it’s actually embarrassing on the duffers part.

what? you thought that was a cute mileven scene? that mike being lied to was the only reason he’d pick himself back up and fight for eleven? even in the scene where she’s in the tub, will literally has to compel mike to keep going and not give up on her.

so in the shows story, with it all wrapped up now, the ending is that a queer character suffered, then suffered some more, then even more, and on top of all that—his whole arc ended in pushing a straight relationship forward.

wonderful queer message duffers, im sure queer youth everywhere is super inspired. you really pulled that one off.
