"Do the actors know it's a slow burn?"

"This is progressing too fast!"

"It's not supposed to be this clearly romantic this early on!"

Ummm, what changes after they get together? Be honest. Literally nothing. They kiss and hold hands, cause they're a couple, but other than that? What else?

They've ALWAYS been that unhinged for each other, I fear.

i keep seeing people on tiktok saying "percy, remember this is a slowburn!" but i think it's very important to remember that percy is a clueless boy who does not realize that he is in love with annabeth. rather, he is doing nonsense like "i'd burn it all down" and "luke, don't touch her" and handing over the golden fleece all for his very good friend. that is his fatal flaw

"Percy would do this for literally qny of his good friends or family"

Yes. But also no.

Yes. And "But Not Like That".

I think it's veerrrry interesting how he is concerned about everyone he cares for.

Gotta get Grover back he is in danger! Time to leave camp against the orders of Tantalous and become an outcast. Tyson is lost and I am so devastated it's all my fault time to exile myself to an island. Mom might be alive, time to go on a quest SOLELY to see if she's alive because I need her to be alive even though I have no idea what I'm doing.

In season one he plays his mom as shock and disbelief and fear of his mom being gone followed by vulnerability when she's alive, concern and relief for Grover when he rescues him, and grief and guilt for Tyson.

But there's a subtle, but marked difference when he's considering Annabeth in danger. It's got an edge of anger, protectiveness, desperation and almost insanity?

And you can talk about how maybe it's the narrative choices that lead to this... "It's not that romantic" well yes and no. SURE, the Burn it Down line is about Percy's character as much if not more than it is about Percabeth. Sure. But it's also specifically him worried that Annabeth could be next and that would be too much... and sure, he's already emotional here because he's already lost people and now he's talking broadly about making human choices. Bro is put in the right scenarios at the right time and it sets up these Percebeth scenes to play out this way. But there is still something bubbling underneath that is "more than a friend"

When it comes to saving Annabeth there's an extra dash of "I will literally do anything as long as she is safe and I can't breathe " that just jumps out in a very particular way that doesn't read purely as concern for a friend or sacrifice for a friend.

But because he is so loyal for all of his friends... he can't quite see the difference between "I need to save my friend, and I will go to the ends of the earth because I am very worried and relieved when they are ok" vs. "I just doomed camp to die because she wasn't moving and I stopped breathing and I just needed to know she was alive or else I will burn it all down."

Eek!

It's not exactly "romantic" but it also IS because he KNOWS she is special. Just doesn't realize WHY

THIS THIS THIS PLEASE SAY IT LOUDER

I feel like people aren't really understanding where Percy was at emotionally when he told Annabeth he would burn Olympus down to save her. It's not an out of no where thing to say. It's not out of character. And it's not rushing Percabeth either.

The kid thinks he just lost his literal brother. A brother his mom told him to look out for. Percy felt a lot of responsibility for Tyson's safety and he just feels like he completely failed him. Tyson was Percy's friend and Percy is loyal to his friends and he is shown IN THIS EPISODE to put his friends' lives before his own so the fact that he's alive and Tyson is gone? Gotta be gut wrenching for Percy who probably thinks he could have done more to protect him.

And the thing with Grover is time sensitive. Percy knows that Grover can't wait for him to be on this island long and Percy thinks they might be stuck there, and be unable to reach Grover in time. He has no idea if they can get out of there to save Grover or not. He hasn't given up on him because he never would, but he's practical enough and smart enough to see the writing on the wall. Saving Grover isn't a sure thing and that's probably tearing him up inside too because now he might be actively failing another friend.

What's more, Percy talks later in this episode about how he didn't used to have friends and how lonely that was. And after the mirror and the talk with Circe, for the first time ever he is directly confronted with HOW he can be used as a weapon. And worse, he sees with clarity exactly how it would WORK. He is horrified in that moment to realize that he is actually a threat and maybe people should be afraid of him. Before it was easy to say, "I would never be a weapon to destroy Olympus. I'm not that kind of person. I'm in charge of myself and I would never do that." Now, he's been cursed with knowledge lol. Now he sees exactly what would make him a weapon, even if he doesn't want to be. Because he acknowledges that when it comes to his own well being, his own morals, his own SOUL, all of that could be sacrificed if it meant keeping the people he cares about safe. Kind of a scary thing for a 13 year old to suddenly know about themselves.

And Annabeth is the only friend he has left. He even says it in the moment "Tyson is dead, Grover is lost." If Percy has lost all of his friends but one, and that one friend is standing in front of him? Yeah, absolutely he's gonna burn down Olympus to save her. He even says how he's scared of what he might do if he has to choose between her and Grover because for him that would be a truly impossible choice.

As much as I like Percabeth and enjoy the development we're getting in the show, this confession isn't a romantic one. I think if it were Grover with him instead, he probably would have said something similar. That absolutely doesn't take away from the moment and I, as a shipper, was definitely having an amazing time watching that scene lol. But this moment is Percy coming to terms, not with how much he cares about Annabeth, but how his own care and loyalty to his friends could be twisted to get him to do bad things, and how much that scares him. And more than that, how it scaring him isn't even enough to stop him.

It's like Circe said, not everyone likes to really see themselves for who they truly are.

I'm gonna take my Percabeth goggles off for a moment and remind people that the "I'll burn the world down" line isnt purely romantic.

The full context of the line is percy saying my brother is dead, my best friend is gone, you're the only one I have left so if anyone tries to take you from me I'm taking everyone out. People keep saying that its a love confession and it ruins the development of Percabeth because its too early and thats just dumb.

It is a love confession that can and will be read as romantic by the entire fandom. But Percy fully meant it as a declaration of platonic love. This happens right after the scene of him finding out his fatal flaw is loyalty.

Its him genuinely saying "everyone else I care about is gone, you're all I have left so I'm going to cling to you" him saying this does not ruin the ship. I swear this fandom hates joy.

I'm having Harry/Ginny feels today!

I just noticed this:

In the first book, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, the first name that Harry hears from the Weasley family is…Ginny’s!

In the last book, Harry potter and the Deathly Hallows, the last person Harry interacts with is… again Ginny!

This might seem silly, but it does mean something to me. Before knowing Hermione’s name or even Ron’s, he knew Ginny’s. And at the very end of the whole journey, the last person he talks to is Ginny.

People disregard Ginny in the books because she isn’t part of the golden trio, but in the end she becomes his wife. The person he’s decided to spend the rest of his life with. You know why? BECAUSE SHE’S A BAD-ASS, THAT’S WHY!

I do think that they dialed up Percy’s devotion to his friends (plural, not just Annabeth), so it’s baffling to me that people think Percy is having these feelings about Annabeth too early. That’s his very good close personal friend Annabeth who he can be vulnerable with and tell his deepest fears too and of course he would burn Olympus down for her THAT’S HIS GOOD CLOSE PERSONAL FRIEND!

“ThEiR rUsHiNg PeRcAbEtH!”

Yall… have you genuinely lost the plot?? Percy Jackson has always been the person to sacrifice the world for his friends, it’s not out of left field for him to say that to his friend Annabeth. We just like to giggle and kick our feet about it because we know that they’re endgame! God forbid we have fun! Obviously we all know they’re just platonic rn omg no one is rushing anything CALM DOWN !! Not to mention the books are famously told from only Percy’s pov and he’s famously an unreliable narrator. So yeah he’s always oblivious to anything romantic with Annabeth but literally everyone around them clocked it from day one, the only difference is now in the show we’re seeing it too! In this essay I will -

You Can’t Hurry Love

For @ginnystrophyhusband drunk prompts. People noticing Harry’s pining before hinny get together

The bottle of firewhiskey had appeared shortly after dessert had been cleared from the table.

Arthur had summoned it from the liquor cabinet in the adjoining living room, along with half a dozen glass tumblers.

Remus had accepted his measure gratefully, clinking his glass against Bill’s before letting the warmth of the amber liquid sink into his chilled bones.

They’d made it through three rounds of drinks, their discussion growing animated with each pour of the bottle, as they’d given their opinions on the state of the world, on the Dark Lord’s movements, on the distressing news Remus had to share from the Werewolf community.

By contrast, Ginny’s bright grin upon sidling up to the table, brown eyes wide as she directed them at her father, was a welcome sight indeed.

“Merry Christmas, Dad.”

Arthur, swaying slightly from his fourth glass of firewhiskey, pulled Ginny into a one-armed hug. “Merry Christmas, darling – have you had a wonderful day?”

Ginny nodded, smiling, while she carefully extricated herself from her father’s grasp. “Yeah, mum’s turkey was really good this year –”

“Your mother is a sensation in the kitchen.”

Ginny continued to nod, biting her lip in an effort to smother a smile, Remus suspected.

“She is,” Ginny agreed, her finger running slowly over the tabletop. She peeked at Arthur, her expression wide-eyed and innocent. “And her Christmas pudding was amazing – I’m really full now…”

Bill lifted his tumbler, eyeing the amber liquid within appreciatively. “She always makes sure we line our stomach before the drinks start flowing.”

“Exactly.” Ginny nodded sagely before returning her pleading expression to her father. “So, Dad, we were wondering if maybe you’d let us have some firewhiskey too, please? For Christmas…”

A flicker of movement from the far end of the table confirmed that the ‘we’ in question included Harry and Ron who were casting furtive looks from the chess match they were pretending to be engrossed by.

Arthur’s expression turned thoughtful, he looked to Bill who shrugged unconcernedly. “Not my call.”

Another moment passed, in which Arthur scrutinised Ginny’s wholesome expression. “Not firewhiskey,” he said finally. “Your mother wouldn’t like that.”

“All right,” Ginny agreed immediately. “”hat about some of the buck’s fizz from this morning then?”

Remus suspected, from the speed with which Ginny had suggested the compromise, that this had been her goal all along, but the innocent look she was still levelling at Arthur would never betray such an admission

“Well Buck’s Fizz should be fine.”

Arthur looked to Bill who shrugged again. “It’s barely even alcohol – besides, they’re definitely getting hold of worse than that in the Gryffindor dorms.”

Ginny didn’t disagree, and both the pink tinge upon her cheeks, and Remus’ own experience as a Gryffindor confirmed the truth of Bill’s statements.

“Help yourself,” Arthur said, gesturing for Ginny to proceed. “But if you’re sick in the morning, you’re cleaning it up yourself – without magic.”

“Thank you!” Ginny placed a kiss on her father’s cheek, quickly throwing her arms around his shoulders in a brief hug before she backed away, heading determinedly for the bottles of Buck’s Fizz on the kitchen side.

She picked up two of the glass bottles, holding them triumphantly above her as she returned to Harry and Ron at the far end of the table.

“I told you I could get them,” she hissed at Ron, evidently underestimating the hearing of her elders.

“I never doubted you,” Harry said, accepting one of the bottles from her.

Ginny clinked the rim of her bottle against his, offering nothing to Ron. “And that’s why you’re allowed to share in the spoils of my victory.”

“I’m honoured.” Harry’s eyes remained locked on hers while he lifted the bottle to his lips and took a drink straight from it.

Ginny winked at him before taking a sip from her own bottle.

Ron scowled, glowering at Ginny across the table. “Harry will share with me.”

“Oh no!” Harry shook his head, clutching the bottle protectively to his chest. “ I’m not going to betray my star chaser – what Ginny says goes.”

Ginny shot a satisfied smile at Ron, an expression that turned softer as her eyes met Harry’s. “Correct answer, Captain.”

“Merlin,” Bill murmured into his glass before tipping the whole measure back in one swallow. “Do we have any mistletoe hanging around? Seems like those two might need a clue.”

Remus laughed softly. “Sirius always insisted there was something there.”

He’d sworn, last year, in the dank surroundings of Grimmauld Place, that the way Harry looked at Ginny was so painfully obvious, he couldn’t understand why no one else could see it.

Just like Lily,’ Sirius had said. ‘The way she used to look at James.’

Remus hadn’t been able to see it last year, but it was undeniable now. The soft glimmer in Harry’s green eyes was undeniably Lily when she let her walls down in the way she’d only ever done when James was there.

“They’ll figure it out.” Arthur said now, topping up all three glasses once more. “You can’t rush these things.”

My mirror of erised: A Harry potter series on Netflix. One book per season. Things that will be included

1. BOOK! Ron. The smart, witty, knowledgeable sometimes moody chess master. The soul of the trio. His one liners. A fierce and loyal friend. Who beats the shit outta any guy who bullies Hermione or Harry. Also 'Weasley is our king' song.

2. BOOK! Ginny. The smartass, fiesty, brave, sassy queen Ginny. Ginny 'I will defend Luna from every bully' weasley. Also Hermione/Ginny friendship.

3. BOOK! Hermione. The intelligent, smart, BUCKTOOTHED BUSHY HAIRED know it all with a heart of gold. Give me emotional Hermione who cries when Ron Harry make up after their fight in GOF. Who has flaws. Who is jealous of Fleur, Lavender because Ron has a crush on them. Not the flawless goddess super model the film makers turned her into.

4. BOOK! Snape. Show us the despicable bullying piece of shit he is in the books.

5. The marauders' story. The movies completely skipped their story and it annoyed the hell outta me.

5. Book! Romione. I want to see Ron defending heemione from every bullying pos, Ron crying her lungs out when Hermione is getting tortured, Ron is taking care of her when she is stressed.

6. BOOK! Hinny. Give us Harry's hopeless crush in book 6. Give us the amazing kiss. Give us the real understanding and respect between them.

Add more.. if you want.

Ummm guys.... You won't believe this 😱

I don’t care if this is a hot take, but Sea of Monsters truly is my favorite book of the original series, and I’m so excited to see it come to life. Don’t get me wrong, I love all of the books (like a parent trying not to start a fight), but there’s just something so special to me about the Sea of Monsters. I’m really hoping that the series will bring more people over to my side, but for the time being I’m simply going to yap at you all about why I love this book so much.

#1: SOM gives us our first substantial look at Camp Half-Blood. Although TLT offers a brief overview of what the camp is and its purpose, it doesn’t provide much detail beyond the basics. In Sea of Monsters, however, we’re introduced to important background characters like Beckendorf, Silena, and the Stoll brothers. These details really help to fill out the world of Percy Jackson, transforming it from just another book series to its own universe.

#2: This is a completely biased point, but I LOVE the fact that SOM is based on the Odyssey. I know it’s been pointed out that each of the 5 books is vaguely related to a mythological hero, i.e., Perseus, Hercules, Theseus, and Achilles; this is the one I feel is the most obvious. Percy and the group pretty much hit every single Odyssey plot point they can. Which is not only fun for those who already know the myth, but it also serves as a great intro into the HEU (Homer extended universe) for readers who aren’t.

#3: I’ve already hit this horse before, but the fact that Annabeth is our Odysseus throughout this story will never not fill me with joy every time I remember it. It’s just so incredible to see a female character in the media not be just pushed aside as a love interest but instead be given the lead role in a book that’s not even about her. As an Annabeth Chase stan first and a human being second, it’s just so incredible to see her highlighted so prominently in only the second book. We learn so much about her past, her flaws, her dreams, and her place in Percy’s story, which I find just brilliant.

#4: The amount of iconic moments that happen despite a lot of people saying that “nothing really happens in SOM”!? Not only do we get the siren scene, Thalia’s awakening, Guinea Pig Percy, Luke poisoning Thalia's tree, Hylla’s first appearance, the cursed trio’s backstory, and Tyson (just…Tyson in general), but we also get the first technical Percabeth kiss. It’s honestly crazy how important SOM ends up being to the overall story despite being the shortest of the 5 books.

#5: I honestly feel that this goes without saying, but The Sea of Monsters has the absolute best ending of the original 5 books. The full-body chills I got from reading the ending for the first time stayed with me through the entire series, and I still feel like I’m chasing the high of reading it for the first time. Likeeeee the fear of hearing that something had happened on the hill with only Annabeth on duty to the absolute horror of realization once Percy locks eyes with Thalia??? Absolute cinema, I can’t wait to see it.

Sea of Monsters btw, so I don’t want to see ANYONE saying Percy shouldn’t know about the Great Prophecy this early when Annabeth inevitably tells him this season.
