something kind of funny about realizing how big the explosion of popularity of that gay hockey show is well beyond tumblr like celebrities and random irl acquaintances are talking about it now
something so fascinating i cant quite describe about seeing people in my community ttrpg and board game group talk about how theyre so obsessed with it they want to slot it in to like any ttrpg we play. and i havent watched it but im just thinking about how insane i felt this time last year when i could not stop myself from slotting lesbian baseball players into multiple ttrpg oneshots and then how i got really excited the one time i got to play leader 1 there and got the people i was playing with to name their pieces after ywpd characters….
debating if it would be funnier to have a bumper sticker saying "my other ride is a [exact make and model of the car the sticker is on]" or "my other ride is a [equally shitty but different car]"
2008 Honda Civic with the bumper sticker "My other ride is a 2007 Honda Civic"
my gf found some youtube shorts weve been watching tonight where someone uses a linguistics background to figure out where people are from in the us which is very fun thats exactly the type of thing i would love to try to do if i had the stomach/charm/dedication to be a youtube/tiktok personality
butttt the combo of my specific interest in dialectology and especially knowledge of us english dialectology and being from rhode island and having the final project i ever worked on in undergrad being about rhode island english dialectology and reading like 5 different books specifically about new england dialectology for that
even though i like the videos i kind of keep getting annoyed every video with the lack of a cot-caught merger being used to rule out new england (and this specifically being said to be merged in the caught direction throughout new england) thats just not true that is conflating northeast new england dialects with all of new england!!!!
horrible contrarian in me who wants to submit a rhode island accent to see what happens
Do you like second-person point of view stories?
Yes, I ONLY like second-person POV stories
Yes, I prefer second-person POV stories over other POVs
Yes, I like it just as much as other POVs
I'll read it, but I like it less than other POVs
I dislike it, but I'll read it if the premise is good
I'll only read second-person POV stories if I'm forced to
Other
I've never encountered a second-person story
First person: "I went to the show."
Second person: "You went to the show."
Third person: "Mary went to the show."
One of the most common places second person point of view is used is in reader-insert fic, but that's not the only place it's used.

"The United States is, of course, mostly known around the world by its promotion of far-right ideology and Operation Cóndor. But did you know it actually has a vibrant cultural scene? We travel to the remote and exotic province of Florida -known in movies as the home of the "NASA" project staffed by Nazi refugees- a thousand miles from the capital, to learn about "rock" music,"
So many characters should be permanently disabled in multiple ways or AT THE VERY LEAST have severe chronic pain but everyoens a coward so no one writes the effects of the injuries they inflict </3
its cool that i keep learning new things about the plumbing of my apartment to make minor improvements on the hot water issue but also its kind of stupid because its like. i often know what the next step in what to test or look for is and then when i finally set aside the time for it its been a few weeks and takes up a good chunk of time. and then it does improve things but not enough to make it not still annoying. and on one hand i want to just get it over with and call my apartments slow as fuck maintenance that always takes weeks to respond to maintenance requests, but on the other hand they’re infamous for fixing like half a problem and then being like ‘uhhhhh.. i’ll be back’ and then never coming back and marking the problem solved. so i want to come to them with as specific of a request as possible. but i do think i’m getting closer and closer to concluding that the solution is my hot water tank should be replaced and the insulation to the pipes on the way to my bathtub is maybe nonexistent
