моя утома

everything eats and is eaten, time is fed

If you want to support Ukrainians, DO NOT donate to Red Cross. Can't speak about their work in other countries, but they're useless in Ukraine. The only trustworthy international organisation I can think of is World Central Kitchen.

And it's even better to donate directly to Ukrainian organisations. Here are a few good legit places:

hospitallers.life - "Hospitallers", Ukrainian paramedics on the frontlines

savelife.in.ua - "Come Back Alive", assistance to the army

prytulafoundation.org - "Prytula Foundation", assistance to the army, humanitarian causes

starenki.com.ua - "Starenki", helping elderly people

everybodycan.com.ua - "Everybody Can", helping disabled children, elders and hospitals

uanimals.org - "UAnimals", saving animals

I think I’m falling behind in pop culture can we stop writing books and making movies until I catch up. something crazy is about to happen to gilgamesh

Diary of Ukrainian writer Volodymyr Vakulenko. The diary consists of 36 pages that were written during the first 26 days of the russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Volodymyr was killed during the occupation of Kapitolivka village in Kharkiv region and buried without a name under the cross #319 in the Izium mass grave. This diary was found by writer and activist Victoria Amelina, who was later killed in a missile strike. Photo by Mykhaylo Palinchak.

Last words written in the diary: "And today, on Poetry Day, flying cranes greeted me in the sky. And through their "coos" I could hear: "Everything will be Ukraine! I believe in victory!".

Victoria Amelina's preface: "Volodia's message is saved, even if tomorrow I manage to step on some anti-personnel mine. And as long as the writer is read, he is alive... He won".

I Was Reading a Scientific Article

by Margaret Atwood

They have photographed the brain and here is the picture, it is full of branches as I always suspected,

each time you arrive the electricity of seeing you is a huge tree lumbering through my skull, the roots waving.

It is an earth, its fibres wrap things buried, your forgotten words are graved in my head, an intricate

red blue and pink prehensile chemistry veined like a leaf network, or is it a seascape with corals and shining tentacles.

I touch you, I am created in you somewhere as a complex filament of light

You rest on me and my shoulder holds

your heavy unbelievable skull, crowded with radiant suns, a new planet, the people submerged in you, a lost civilization I can never excavate:

my hands trace the contours of a total universe, its different colors, flowers, its undiscovered animals, violent or serene

its other air its claws

its paradise rivers

Updates from Iran

Some major updates from people in Iran and leaks:

  • While the official number of deaths is stated to be between 2,000-3,000, people estimate that the actual number of deaths is estimated to be at least 12,000. Videos show bodies all over the streets and body bags just lying on the ground.
  • Doctors are reporting being overwhelmed by the casualties.
  • The regime is trying to arrest injured protesters in the hospital.
  • The regime is charging money to return the bodies of murdered protesters to their families. (This practice is already disgusting, but imagine charging money at their rates in Iran's current economic status when people can barely afford bread.)
  • People are reporting that people from the regime's affiliates and proxy groups in the region have already been brought in to help with the suppression.
  • Messages being sent from Iran are saying that curfews are being enforced and that the regime's forces, including these proxies, are shooting indiscriminately at will.
  • Executions will really start tomorrow.
  • The regime is doing whatever it can to cut off people from the world. It's very difficult for people to contact family in Iran. There is still an internet blackout.
  • Despite this, there is still some footage coming out that people are still willing to risk it all and fight.

This is a humanitarian crisis. The people of Iran need your support more than ever. Amplify their voices, and don't let the regime get away with its crimes in darkness. Hold your governments and media to account to make sure that they support the people of Iran and not support the regime.

All eyes on Iran.

Another update: While we still have a virtual information blackout, the death count will probably be even higher than 12,000. There's no way of knowing until the internet comes back (hopefully when the regime falls).

It's hard to know what the regime will do with the executions. The regime claims that Erfan Soltani is not sentenced to death after all the international pressure, but that doesn't mean they won't try to kill him and other imprisoned protesters when people look away. In fact, it doesn't even need "executions" to kill them; the torture, abuse, and neglect in prisons is often another way that prisoners are killed.

The regime is spreading misinformation about what's happening by minimizing the death toll and trying to paint the protesters as violent thugs and murderers. It obviously goes without saying that this is all categorically false.
