The pain in your side was biting. Quite literally if you were being honest.
Burning and stinging was causing your side to throb, the adrenaline having worn off now, leaving a weak and defenseless human. You’d managed to escape the hybrid mutts with just enough time to run away and get to higher ground. By the time you were able to stop running and finally catch your breath, the reality had started to set in.
You’d been attacked, caught unawares and unguarded and unable to protect yourself until it was too late. One of the huge mongrels was able to take a nice big bite out of your side. Looking down, you saw the dark red blood staining your shirt crimson. That wasn’t a good sign.
