I need a cute Hiccstrid doodle to cheer me up…
"How are the babes at Emerson?" was actually Robin teasing Nancy 'cause they're secretly dating and haven't told the boys yet. She knows she's not interested in any babes. I know it. They told me. I was there.
Edit:
Like look at her face??? Oh, I'm so right.
She knows exactly how the babes are. She's the babe.
Did the duffers mean to write ronance. Like im actually so confused did they mean to do that. Did they mean to write them so ridiculously compatible in the smallest ways? Like the connections are BAFFLING to me, every single throwaway line and scene makes them even more compatible like
Jonathan threw away nancy’s pink sweater cause he hates pink meanwhile robin wore pink when nancy asked her to at penhurst and played pretty in pink on the radio
They both canonically like a russian story about doomed love (doctor zhivago and anna karenina)
Nancy has a whole arc about feminism, Robin goes on a feminist rant to the penthurst guy and goes to college to listen to lectures on steinem
Nancy “doesn’t trust doctors who smoke”, and hates it when Jonathan smokes weed. Robin throws Eddie’s cigarette out of his mouth and into the water at Lover’s Lake, calling it “gross”
In contrast, they both like to get drunk and have even gotten drunk together in One Way or Another
They live two hours away from each other in the first state to legalize gay marriage
In rebel robin we learn that some of robin’s favorite artists are madonna, bowie and the beatles (i believe so anyways, it’s been a minute), which is the same music she suggests to the others when trying to free Nancy from vecna’s curse. Since we saw Robin going through the tapes in Nancy room, we can assume that she suggested these tapes because nancy likes them, which means they have the same taste in music
Nancy dresses up in the candystriper outfit robin liked on vickie, and robin dresses up in the outfit tom cruise wore in the poster on nancy’s wall
Robin’s throwaway line about overbearing partners is apparently geared towards vickie, while nancy has a whole arc about being the opposite of overbearing
Again, in rebel robin the whole plot of the book is basically that robin is desperately trying to save up money to leave her town and nancy has the same ambition
With robin’s canonical love for languages, literature and cinema, she’s very much the same archetype as jonathan’s photography in terms of being compatible with nancy’s journalism career goals
I also think it’s hilarious that both jonathan and robin are weird runners
When jonathan asked if nancy needed space to be with someone else, she said she wasn’t interested in steve but she didn’t say she wasn’t interested in anyone else at all
Robin’s use of the word babes has always been used to refer to women so bisexual nancy is like basically canon
some people think writers are so eloquent and good with words, but the reality is that we can sit there with our fingers on the keyboard going, “what’s the word for non-sunlight lighting? Like, fake lighting?” and for ten minutes, all our brain will supply is “unofficial”, and we know that’s not the right word, but it’s the only word we can come up with…until finally it’s like our face got smashed into a brick wall and we remember the word we want is “artificial”.
I couldn't remember the word "doorknob" ten minutes ago.
ok but the onelook thesaurus will save your life, i literally could not live without this website
REBLOG TO SAVE A WRITER'S LIFE

REBLOGGING TO SAVE ANOTHER WRITERS LIFE
I use this every time I sit down to write. It's the best tool in the world and I would be lost without it!
is it gay for you (19F) to sit with your best friend (18F) on the roof of her house whilst drinking beer and pondering your future together because you think she's the only person who could understand and talk with you about what's going on? like you can't even talk to your boyfriend about this because he's a part of the problem?
my favourite thing is characters who just met the person theyre literally going to be wildly in love with for the rest of their lives and theyre like “:/ they’re not all that” this is so embarrassing for u
The potential of ronance makes me insane. What surely must be Robin's perspective of Nancy makes me feel insane. Like.
Robin first perceived her as a "priss" when she was in her #goodgirl era, when she was wearing cute pink cardigans and resolutely studying flashcards; Robin probably saw her as a kind of example of perfect heteroconformity, of neurotypicality, everything that Robin could never live up to. Meanwhile, Nancy slowly develops this arc where she rebels, because the skin of conformity that Robin thinks comes so naturally to her isn't real, it's suffocating - Nancy can't end up like her parents, she just can't. She wants to be something different, a journalist, someone who is a mover, not just someone walking in footsteps expected of girls like her. Robin meets her, and realizes -- oh. She isn't like I thought. She's badass and gung-ho, and her put-togetherness isn't the prim and proper thing I thought it was, her intelligence not just coquettish bookishness but brazen strategic wit. It's rough and stark and unapologetic. If Nancy isn't that perfect conforming figure that Robin thought she was, maybe no one really conforms, and Robin does belong. Maybe she's safe, here.
Nancy's view of Robin is also -- OUGH. Robin, to Nancy, probably represents everything Nancy was never born to be, a world alien to her; Robin doesn't have the same expectations of a Regan-loving family laid down upon her. She's a rambling mess, and a total eclectic geek, jumping between topics to learn inattentively -- and, she's also heard that Robin is, you know, different, you know, different different, and can't you see it in the clothes she wears? But as Nancy gets to know her, she realizes that Robin isn't just unfocusedly obsessive, but she's actually smart, really smart, and when she rambles, it's about things she really knows a lot about, and she knows a lot about so many little things. Yes, she's kind of a klutz, but she's also impulsive in a way that gets things done, maybe not premeditatively so like Nancy, but competent, and so brave... and, if Robin isn't that different, really, from Nancy, then maybe Nancy could live in her world. Could break out of the cycle.
Idc all media is just two women who are clearly in love with each other and the annoying, underdeveloped man who is standing in between them
Yk for people who seem to be dead set on a romance arc where nancy has to choose which atomic loser in her roster is less pathetic and subsequently be wifed up by them and a storyline where robin’s entire well crafted arc with her storyline ends up with her dating an absolute blank slate of a character to further someone else’s romance arc, the duffers seem AWFULLY hell bent on making nancy and robin as compatible and lovelorn as humanly possible. Like… let’s talk abt it
-robin is the only character to display constant and nearly immediate faith in nancy, an arc that nancy has struggled with since season 1. Nancy has been laughed off, not believed and had her ideas and opinions be glossed over a million times by steve, jonathan, her family, the cops, her employers, literally everyone she comes into significant contact with. Meanwhile it took robin Maybe an afternoon to decide nancy wheeler had her shit together and knew what she was talking about after pretty much a lifetime of thinking she was a priss from observation, and proceeds to defend nancy’s intelligence and credibility to literally everyone she meets
-robin’s interests align so perfect with nancy’s that it’s insane. They remind me a lot of the way nancy and jonathan used to be compatible (journalism and photography). Nancy is a journalist, robin likes languages. Both of them have the same drive and curiosity for discovery, for knowledge and knowing things. Say what you will abt robin being smarter or cooler in season 3, she’s been the major clutch in figuring stuff out in all three seasons she’s been in, and that sort of intelligence and academic nature aligns PERFECTLY with miss walk em down wheeler
-robin doesn’t have the same drawbacks that either steve or jonathan have. Steve for his part is brave, loyal and funny, but he can also be insensitive and disrespectful of what nancy wants (and his ideas for the future are completely different than nancy’s). Jonathan meshes better with nancy, but he doesn’t put her first in the way someone in such a serious relationship should. Plus, he lied to her about college, and now he wants to get engaged? Hell no! Robin is the best of both worlds in that she’s brave, loyal and funny and also meshes very well with nancy. Both she and nancy want to get out of hawkins and explore the world
-they make each other happy, which isn’t even not a fact. The robin buckley effect into making people miserable with themselves feel happier is crazy, like the only times we’ve seen nancy genuinely be happy all of season five are when she’s with robin, and i think that speaks volumes. Robin is the only one to pick up on nancy’s relationship troubles and talk to her about them in a comforting way. For robin’s part, nancy provides reassurance that i haven’t seen from anyone else. Steve was great for his acceptance of her, but it’s nancy holding robin’s hand in the upside down when she’s scared, it’s nancy telling her it’s going to be alright, that robin has this in the bag. I watched robin go from terrified of people finding out her sexuality and terrified to be herself to being confident and kissing girls and being Rockin’ Robin, and i think that has a lot to do with nancy
-not to mention the actresses ship it HARD, like if natalia and maya are telling us they went hard on ronance that means it’s more than a crack ship or a rare pair, it has genuine potential
-also i could yap forever about how much both rebel robin and the new book with both of them are providing HEAPS of content that are making them so close to actually just being canon in my head but that’s a whole other post tbh
Why non-canon when so canon shaped?
One part of me refuses to believe that the duffers accidentally paired characters who work together insanely well on so many levels starting with their general life vision (Robin and Nancy both want to leave Hawkins and their arcs are about non-conformity) and ending with dressing up like their crushes. And I’m not even talking about the amount of crumbs that honestly drives me crazy.
But the other, smaller part of me was queerbaited so many times and I’m scared tbh that the duffers are afraid of success and will queerbait us with Ronance.
