Well, a roo would be familiar ground, might be better for the first time in a while. If that's too boring, you could do a fennec fox or a jerboa. Or maybe a leptictidium, there aren't many of those around. As for what they're doing, again to recommend something familiar for the first time in a while, playing an instrument, DJing turntables, dancing... I hope this helps.
