General | Posted 14 years agoThere is, like, a 50-75% chance I will be showing up sometime tomorrow. Just for anyone interested!
Most Important Question
General | Posted 14 years agoBanner? I barely even knew 'er!
D= In a less silly, far more awesome note, I've got another character concept nearly completed for
ShrinkyDinks , and was wondering, without spoiling too terribly much, would anyone be interested in subscribing to a faux mini-blog or the like detailing her fictional, extremely size-play-centric life and the like? No doubt it'd be littered with daily interactions with oversized everyday objects, and weeks worth of strange, silly transformation/shrinking/growth play!
What'cha all think?

Mah Twenty-Second
General | Posted 14 years agoNothing big, and no cause for any decent amount of fanfare, but I thought I might mention, a bit, that as of about an hour and fourty minutes ago, it became my birthday. Of course, the kicker is that I have to work one of the longest shifts at work, but hey, I'm cool with it. D= (Not really, 'cause of the heat wave + working outside.)
Anyway, hope everyone else is having a relatively good Friday! =D

So there's this Free Art Contest! D=
General | Posted 14 years agoNew Account! And Potential for Future Commissions.
General | Posted 14 years agoI'm not ditching this account or anything, I just wanted to mention that a lot of my commissioned pieces and future stories are likely going to be posted over at
ShrinkyDinks. For anyone interested, give a peek over there, though I warn you that the stuff on that account might be a bit more risque than the stuff here. Not overly so, just...y'know, more nudity and the like. D=
In addition, I was tossing about the thought of possibly doing story commissions. I know most people generally prefer to shell over their money for art, but as some people have expressed their interest, I thought I'd keep the option out there! For now, I'm not actually -taking- commissions, but it'd be neat to know who all is interested for some potential shrinky/growy writing, or more. I'd keep the prices semi-reasonable too!
Aside from all of that, hope you all enjoy the change a bit! =D

THIS IS WHAT I DO. FOR REALS.
General | Posted 14 years agoI try to tell people who are interested, but otherwise, it might not get around, that my current major in college is Computer Game Development, with a focus on Design. This means I work on the planning and aesthetic parts of the game.
SO, WITHOUT FURTHER ADIEU, THIS IS HOW I MAKE GAEMZ.

Back on Track?
General | Posted 15 years agoThis feels sort of lame, posting up this journal after having made an announcement about making a story and such, but I would at least like to say that I'm trying to get back on track with that whole plan, and it's working, for the most part.
A combination of three straight days of being ill during New Years prevented me from making THAT deadline, so after it passed, my drive kind of died. But now I've got a better idea, still shrink-related, that I think will work out well.
It's really all just a big excuse for not having written anything for it yet, but, well, this time, having actually put words down on paper, I can guarantee that this story is actually going to be a thing that is. >.>;
Anyway, that's basically catching up on the more general reasons I've been gone and everything. x.x;

Story? Soon?
General | Posted 15 years agoWell, I had a fleeting dream somewhere near 9:00 PM on the 23rd that I was going to be able to write an entire story and post it here on Christmas Day. D= Yeah. As you can see, that did not happen.
HOWEVER. I am planning on posting one before New Years, now that I don't have travel and family stuff to worry about. It will be shrinky-themed, obviously.
Alright. HERE GOES.

Where I've Been!
General | Posted 15 years agoAs it's recently occurred to me that I literally have not done a thing here, or really much of anything anywhere for at least two months. Frankly, I've kind of vanished off the face of the Earth for a while, so it's worth explaining exactly where I've been!
So, as of previous school years, I've been more or less getting by trying to sneak as much free time as I could in between classes, homework, and real-life gatherings, but, this year, school introduced me to the reality that there was a certain class, a certain project that would always, 100% guarantee taking away any smidgen of free time I had left: Level Design.
Now, I'm not sure it's something that I've generally told everyone, but I'm currently going to school on the ticket that hopefully I'll walk out with a nice four-year major in Game Development (with a design focus.) Up until now, I've been able to claim a moderate amount of focus on my inherent game classes without much effort of popping on FA now and then; generally, the workload, with the errant group game project or small personally designed game prototype, has been enough to pop back on now and then. Well, then I discovered that Introduction to Level Design would require using a tool I had never even played with. @.@;
So, using the Unreal Development Kit, just about every week, we'd have to craft a new, unique level with the tools given, completely sculpting it in 3-D space, with each assignment accumulating all of the lessons we'd learned up until that point. For the first week, we just had to create a 'block-out' with -some- lighting in it. Second, we had to add in at least nine other assets into a different block-out level of our design. In the third, we were required to make a visually appealing level making use of landmarks, with an indeterminable amount of stuff in them. So, yeah, the projects just got crazier from there, and that's not even including another class where, over the course of it, I had to apply for a research permission, interview subjects on the internet, and write 10-pages of a 30-page masterpiece that covered everything we learned, all in about 3 weeks, all while part of a group.
Needless to say, school has been drop kicking my butt all over the place recently. x.x;
Still, now that things have kind of settled down with it, I'm going to at least make a better effort to use my journals to keep people updated, whether or not people read them or such, and more than that, I think I'll finally have a good amount of time on my hands.
So, I'm fine! Just have been busy and all that. D=

Of Escaping
General | Posted 15 years agoI confess that I don't check my journals all too often; I'll let them stockpile up as high as 100 or so before clearing out the lot of them. There's only a bit of reason for it; I often don't have as much time as I'd like to take a look at the most recent memes, or can't quite make the deadlines for contests and such whenever I see them. x.x Though, whenever I do pop my head in to just sort of browse all of the journal entries, sure enough, there's usually one or two that pop out:
"I'm Leaving"
"Goodbye"
"Going to retreat for a bit"
Now, in no way am I saying that you should never leave the fandom. Sometimes, circumstances, physical and mental, just sort of happen that keep you away from it, and I can understand if occasionally, you just don't want to be a part of it anymore. Now, I could delude myself by saying that it's for the best, and that I'll get over it, after all, the people I watch I really tend to like, and though I don't often get to, I always sort of feel like I'd have fun chatting with them, as skittish as I can get when meeting others for the first time. So, I'll honestly be the first to say that when I see someone leave, no matter the reason...yeah, I'm sad. Crushed, even, if just for a day. It's pretty much losing a friend, since for the most part, those I have contact with are only ever contactable online.
Still, one thing that does bother me about a few of these farewell posts is that some of them come directly from another journal, another picture...something that someone posted, and that had an overwhelmingly intense argument spawn from it. Once again, there's nothing wrong with that, it's within everyone's right to have an opinion that differs from another. I always feel like a blockade in communication erupts when one side, or possibly both, of an argument will absolutely not so much at take a glance at the other side, and that irks me.
So, when I see someone post about leaving the fandom due to a single event like that...well, call me inconsiderate, call me ignorant, call me anything; but why can't you coexist with someone that doesn't agree with you? Sure, the internet's transparent, it's a place, oddly, to see the most about people since they can all post their opinions behind that ever-present E-Mask. But at the same time, the people behind them are still just like us, with varying opinions. You could hold a friendship with them for years, and not know a thing about what they've revealed; and even if the truth does come out, you're much more likely to accept their side or argue because they're right there: they are a person, not a wall of text.
The thing I feel like some forget when they declare that they're leaving, or even in the events prior, is that everyone in it is still something outside of it. As different, flawed, or strong as they are in different areas, and as different of lives we may all lead, we aren't some fuzzy mass lurking deep in the internet that have no other substance behind them. As long as we take to mind that we can tolerate each other, maybe some of these farewells could be prevented a little.
Maybe, at the very root of this, I'm trying to say...erm...I'm gonna miss any friend who leaves, and I hope it's not for something as preventable as getting aggravated over difference in opinion. ^^;
REMINDER: Additionally, this is all opinion, so...yeah.

I've been tagged!
General | Posted 16 years agoWell, I have been! By listix, as well! It seems interesting enough, and I would kind of like to tell some other people some things about myself...so here goes!
(Though, I'm not really going to tag anyone..though, if you're interested in this, go ahead and take it!)
THE RULES...
1) Post these rules
2) Post 8 true things about yourself
3) At the end you must tag 8 people and post their icons
4) Go to their page and send them a message saying you tagged them
5) NO TAG-BACKS
Alright, sooo...
1. My lifelong goal is to finally publish Planetary Defenders, that sci-fi story I've been working on.
2. I loved the aspect of transformation long before I became obsessed with shrinking. Now I just love both.
3. Currently, my favorite restaurant is Flattop Grill
4. I'm a huge fan of anime and manga, but have the downsides of mostly loving shonen battle manga. That doesn't mean I don't like other things, though!
5. I'm currently learning how to be a Game Designer.
6. My current favorite video game is Megaman Star Force 3, on the basis that both the gameplay and story were kicked, like, twenty notches up.
7. Around new people, I really tend to be shy. This has recently changed; depending on the person, I can normally start chatting within minutes.
8. I'm actually proficient in playing the violin. I've been playing for 8 years, and despite no longer being in an orchestra, I want to get back into it.
8b. I tend to play a lot of pop-culture songs by ear!
Alright, that's about all!

Weekly Shonen Birthday Special: Katekyo Hitman Reborn!
General | Posted 16 years agoIt is my birthday! But, rather than just use up a journal to talk about it, I want to bring you yet another review of a manga I've been reading and obsessing over a lot recently, known as Reborn! D=
This is a seriously crazy tale in every sense of the word. I'm going to find it hard to describe any of it in just a simple paragraph, but let me give you the jist; due to some unfortunate and oddly specific distant-family mishaps, Tsunayoshi Sadawa, a Japanese high-school student, is the next prime candidate to be the tenth heir to the Vongolia Mafia family. He doesn't know anything about it, of course, but luckily, his mother has hired a tutor to help the hapless schoolboy improve his grades and personal talents, a tutor which just happens to be a year-old baby dressed in a suit and a fedora, who is actually a top Vongolia assassin training Tsuna to be the next boss.
If you lost me a bit at the end there, it just gets more bizarre; it's really one of those things you just have to read to get.
Why You Might Like It:
There is a quirkiness about Reborn that just has yet to be matched by anything short of Law of Ueki. Each one of the main characters is bizarre, everyone from the dynamite-launching, Tsuna-obsessed Gokudera to the man who has 666 diseases which cancel each other out, Dr. Shamal. Even at that, things start getting more bizarre and awesome when the gag-a-day chapters end and the serious stuff starts.
Illusionists, master swordsmen, flame-shooting gloves and magic rings are just a few of the gimmicks shown when the series becomes more battle-oriented...not a bad direction to take, either. Each and every fight is unique in its own way, and usually has either a bit of humor or something awesome happen right within it.
I won't give away many more details, but I will just leave you with one more thing: time travel.
I couldn't possibly list all of the really cool things to happen in these pages, especially since Hibari is in it. Really, you just need to read it all. Gags or none, Reborn always takes you for a wild ride.
Why You Might Not Like It:
It may be the things that I like the most about this series that may turn other people away. First of all, the characters can get a bit strange at times, and the humor in the series does rely on you to completely suspend your disbelief. Some people may very well find it impossible to even try to imagine a microwave-launching flute, or a weaponized puzzlebox, but Reborn doesn't try to hide it; the bizarreness is right there.
The gags also tend to repeat themselves occasionally in the beginning as well, usually following the sequence of: Tsuna wants to do a mundane activity -> Reborn finds a way to turn the activity into either a mafia contest or training -> More and more hijinks ensue as Tsuna's "friends" appear until something gets destroyed, usually something of Tsuna's. Of course, some of the situations are still funny the first time you read them, and some can just be plain lung-injuringly hillarious.
And, as a last note, there's shipping. There's LOTS of shipping. You know, pairing characters together, despite any already resisting relationships in the canon. Sure, this is all fan-stuff, but I definitely saw Reborn in a new light after reading that little bit of information.
Still, tons of Reborn-related fun is still readily accessible, and I'm sure that anyone who gives it a chance won't regret it.

Weekly Shonen #2: Psyren
General | Posted 16 years agoOkay, so you take the most contrived and complex plot elements out of most shonen series (mostly time travel, conspiracies, psychotic evil cults, and psychic abilities), blend them all together into a thick, rich, well-mixed creamy shake, and you have the perfect manga smoothie. This is Psyren, and it is delicious.
Description:
The story begins with a boy named Agetha, a high-schooler who has a penchant for trying to solve problems around the area for cash. Right at the beginning of the story, a usually cold, distancing friend, a girl named Amamiya vanishes from school, and no sooner does Agetha begin to look for information on "Psyren," something she had been talking about before, before he gets whisked away after a mysterious phone call to an apocalyptic desert wasteland, forced to fend for himself and find a way home.
And that's only beginning; please see further elements above to discover just how in depth and crazy the plot gets from then on out.
Why You Might Like It:
Despite being another title from Weekly Shonen Jump, the magazine that brought you the blunt series of Bleach and Naruto, the story itself reads like a detailed science fiction novel, for the most part. Of course, there are all sorts of awesome battles (especially with borderline psychic abilities, later on), but they're usually broken up eventually by all the more plot, which, though it has action interspersed within, does nothing to destroy the capabilities of depth the story delves right into.
All of the characters, no matter how one-sided, jaded, or crazy they seem, all experience a great deal of personal development throughout every story arc. In addition, the plot itself seems to get a new piece of information added to it every chapter, forcing the story to keep moving and never stagnate in place. Taking a step back to look at it, this weekly-updating series gets about as much development at the exact same pace as a monthly-updating series.
Oh, and, I don't want to reveal as many spoilers as I did with the Hunter x Hunter review, but the main character has one of the coolest weapons I have ever seen when he finally gets and understands his psychic powers. Can you say "Black Hole Buzzsaw?"
Why You Might Not Like It:
There's a chance you wouldn't like it? Really? No, seriously, there's a little bit in the plot for everyone, so the basic reason people likely wouldn't want to read it is only if they dislike shonen or science fiction...or, well, battle manga. I mean, I could certainly understand other points of view, such as the fact that the story really has to be followed closely to understand what's going on, and the fact that there are a few long stretches of time where people aren't smacking each other in the face with "mind magic" psychic abilities, but I still firmly believe that people who would give it a chance would enjoy what it has to offer.
Of course, I could be wrong, and it could have other sorts of flaws, but as far as I can tell, Psyren remains a gem amongst Shonen Jump titles.

Of course, I could be wrong, and it could have other sorts of flaws, but as far as I can tell, Psyren remains a gem amongst Shonen Jump titles.
Weekly Shonen #1: Hunter x Hunter
General | Posted 16 years agoI thought I'd start off this little description contest with one of my all-time favorites, just to both get the hang of it and see where I can go with this... so today, I'm going to bring you the madcap adventures of Hunter x Hunter!
Description:
As a fantasy work done by esteemed YuYu Hakusho creator Yoshihiro Togashi, it's already set its own standards pretty high. This tale tells the story of a young boy named Gon, and his well-meaning, yet easily distracted goal of finding his father, Ging, who is apparently as elusive as it gets in this bizarre world.
In this universe, there are also people called "Hunters," who seem to have special access rights to do nearly anything, and often do just that. Basically being the professionals of professionals, (and rightly so, as about half of the applicants for the position of Hunter right out died), they can take outstanding loans, get to many places that are otherwise inaccessable, and just be more or less awesome.
Also found in this story is: the mafia, an assassin family, a troupe of thieves who are also some of the strongest people on the planet, killer ants, and a form of very specific, rule-abiding magic called Nen, which has applications, and in that favor, effects that spread far and wide.
Why You Might Like It:
While this story plays itself off as being a typical shonen manga, it is literally anything but. First of all, Nen deserves a special mention due to the fact that it's a step above most other shonen "powers" by both having simplified rules that simultaneously make attacks 10 times more complicated, and also by commonly making little to no sense on a case by case basis.
You see, Nen works as thus; once you've mastered the basic forms of aura control and defense, you can make a special attack that is somehow related to your personal interests or past. However, putting limitations on your own power will allow the attack to get infinitely stronger, to the point where having them only under a single uncommon situation will make them virtually invincible under it. Examples of Nen powers: Creating a Nen technique based on rock (punch), paper (energy blast), and scissors (energy sword), manipulating chains that allow you to capture, heal, and also force your opponent to abide by certain rules under penalty of their own life, and also to force your opponent into a demonic game of tag, under penalty of them exploding if they exceed the time limit.
Another intriguing thing about Hunter x Hunter is that Gon is rarely, if ever the strongest person on screen, often overshadowed completely by his opponent, and occasionally loses when it matters. In one example, a bizarre, clown-like killer named Hisoka (who also has a more than creepy fixation on Gon), who notably outranks the newbie Gon, is stalked by him during one particular Hunter Exam test where Gon was supposed to steal his badge. Despite Hisoka being all kinds of crazy at fighting and reaction times, Gon successfully snatches away his badge in a feat of insane cunning, especially when the opponent is a highly talented murderer.
Also, remember my mention of the troupe of thieves that are some of the strongest in the world? Gon meets them several times when he has only basic understandings of Nen; also, this is near the beginning of the story, and where they are now, it's negligible whether he'd still be able to take them in a fight.
So, basically, Hunter x Hunter comes off as a madcap adventure rife with strange powers, a wide, dynamic cast of characters, and also just plain bizarreness and breaking of common shonen cliques.
Why You Might Not Like It:
Hiatuses. Honestly, that might be the biggest part of this whole thing, as Hunter x Hunter's creator seems to be keen on sticking the longest delays on releasing another chapter...at this point, he's on a schedule of releasing about 10 chapters, and disappearing for half a year, though at this point it's likely been longer than that. Now even the american releases of the graphic novels are delayed, simply because there aren't other volumes coming out fast enough.
Also, a lot of the scenes can get pretty graphic, what with people's limbs or entire bodies getting torn apart in anatomically correct detail (the Greed Island part is probably the worst at this, people exploding all over the place).
Despite all of this, though, Hunter x Hunter still remains a title you should far from dismiss, and has enough numerous charms and qualities to make it a fun read throughout its current 280+ chapter run.

Weekly Shonen Special!
General | Posted 16 years agoI've been a big fan of manga for a while now...you know, those Japanese comics that have grown rapidly in popularity over the past few years, for better or worse! I've sampled tons of titles, mostly good, a few mediocre, and a rare assortment just plain bad, but I still think there's enough manga out there that people tend to miss it in their casual browsing. This may not -always- be the case, but I'd rather help introduce people to the good stuff they've been missing, or at least bring it back up all over again!
So, what I've decided to do is thus: I'm going to give out a review of one manga I've sampled each week! Hopefully it'll be fun and stuff, but at the very least, to those who don't have an aversion to the Japanese manga genre, it'll be a way to get a taste of new things!
I'll start off this week with one! Now I just need to write it...

Not dead! And, revieeeeew!
General | Posted 17 years agoA'ight! With school settling down for the moment and most other things not disrupting me, I'm finally able to sneak back in and say that, for the most part, I'm alive!
No real new pics or stories yet (PD IS being restarted and WILL be 10x awesomer than the others I've put up), but I will give a game review, at the very least! D= It won't be Smash, as I'm fairly certain that everyone now owns the game, has played the game, or has through some other means formed their own opinion on the game. Instead, I'm choosing a game that has recently been re-released, and though I'm sure that most here either have played the game or have heard of it...I don't care!
Nah, I do. But, the game is still awesome.
This game, of course, is the new DS-released Chrono Trigger, which delivered everything that it promised it would, and then some extras that I just didn't expect. By the way, most games should be released that way, so that not only will our expectations be met, but they'll also be just bulldozer'd over when we realize that a game is even better than we were told it was.
So, to begin, lemme tell those who don't know about the game itself! In a steampunk-fantasy-style world, a teen heads off to a carnival celebrating the year 1,000, where his geeky friend's teleportation device accidentally sends the nation's princess back in time. Chrono, the aforementioned teen, sprints off after her, only to get wrapped up in a series of events that span from the Prehistoric lizard-ruling ages all the way to a post-apocalyptic world, where he learns about guru's, immortal, power-mad queens, and that the Y2K that ended the world was, instead of a computer glitch, a gigantic space creature that embedded itself into the Earth some million years ago to devour it all. Along the way, you meet up with a variety of unique characters, such as the aforementioned princess and geeky girl, a robot, a possibly-vampire, a neanderthal in a cat-girl suit, and a freakin' frog that wields a claymore. Oh, and not only are all of their backstories explained in full detail, but through your ability to time travel, you can actually mess around with their pasts. Awesome, 'eh?
The battle system was also awesome, featuring no random battles in lieu of map encounters, different techniques based on a non-standard elemental system, and a dual and triple-team spell-casting system, which meant that your whole party could run up and bash the nearest boss in the face. Also graphics were amazing for the time it was first released, and continue to be higher-standard on the newer release, and there were several different endings, which ranged from sentimental to awesome to a lost episode of the Twilight Zone.
Now then, what did they change? Not much, aside from making dialogue, which was already really advanced, a bit more firm, adding in the cinematic graphics from the PSOne version, keeping track of your unlocked music and cutscenes, adding a couple new PLOT-RELEVANT (read: awesome) dungeons that lead up to explaining a missing plot point from the original, and a new arena that, while it isn't terribly innovative, being a monster-breeder and battler, adds an extra little charm and multiplayer function so that you can at least do a bit with a nearby friend. Notice that none of these changes are a step backwards, but rather all neat little improvements that only add to the nostalgic thoughts you might be feeling when you spot that game behind a glass case. Of course, there are some new controls that make use of the stylus, but those are purely optional, and at least don't feel too distracting in battle.
Now I'm well aware that some people just may not like Japanese RPGs for their linear plots, statistical gameplay and occasionally shallow characters, but let me also reassure those people that certain elements of this game make them a step above the rest, or possibly even two or three steps. For example, I don't want to give out any spoilers, so....well, let's just say a certain scene completely decimates the big plot point of FF7.
Anyways, this game is definitely rated a 10/10 as far as my favorite RPGs go, and lies firmly up there with my favorite games of all time. While it may not be absolutely everyone's cup of tea, I recommend that everyone just give the game at least a try, one way or another. D=
And with that...I live!

SMAAAAAASH!
General | Posted 18 years agoSmash. Yes, that's right, I put the emphasis on the wrong word. Ah well! Still, having nearly played through Subspace Emissary, battled a good majority of the characters and collected the same (minus 4, which includes, no joke, Jigglypuff), and have tried out nearly every feature the game has, aside from internet play ( ;.; Nobody's on the 'play anybody' feature!
I will have a full review out sometime during the week, but for right now, I really have to state the very least of the generalizations about the game. It rocks. Like none other.
Note me for my friends code!

Game Reviews!: Preview
General | Posted 18 years agoI have decided, as a personal choice, that due to a certain game being released on the 9th of March, I have the sudden urge to do something creative, and write game reviews of games I have played through, or plan on playing through. Now, I'm not 100% versatile on games I can play, thus I'm not sure how I'll ever be able to (or want to) review games such as those on the PS3.
Still! If you have any suggestions on games you want me to try to review, or something similar, for any system you can imagine, I will try to do so! o.o
Though, I still get to choose what I want to play! :P

I should explain...
General | Posted 18 years agoA lot of people must have noticed my spurratic disappearance from the nets for a little while, and very few might possibly know the reasons. Since I don't want others to worry too much (unless they couldn't care less, which after as long as I've been gone, I wouldn't blame them too much), I would like to explain myself a little. Last semester, I ran into a sudden brick wall of work and a new level if difficulty in schooling, and due to other family/job/money problems, became more reclusive, even going as far as to hide my online name Camis as Mephis in certain places. For that, I can't really hide the fact that I did something wrong to hide away from worried friends, and for that, I apologize greatly.
Of course, as soon as I was about to rejoin the community and make frequent visits to chats and such, my laptop seemed to suddenly die over Winter Break, not just once, but twice. x.x How'zat for karma?
Anyway, anyone who has been worried or angry about my disappearence, here's the explanation. Unfortunately, until I can save up enough funds to pay for a new laptop, I likely won't be on as often, still. I'll still make efforts to chat, and I'll visit FA a lot as well, so feel free to send me messages or not. It's all up to you.
