Cats dont dance, Heathclliff, Pizza Cats and other stuff
General | Posted 8 years agoWell I've been out of various things for a while now so it was a surprise when I found out two things recently.
First, Warner Brothers with no real anything re-released Cats Don't Dance last year on dvd. Unlike the previous release and bundles this one includes 16x9 Widescreen format. From what I know of it there may have been a you tube of the film in wide screen but now its on an official release through the "WB Archive Collection". Its not restored or anything special but for those who have a older copy. Its the best upgrade they are going to offer.
On a related note. Last year the complete series of Heathcliff and the Catillac Cats was released as a $15 boxset. That's all 86 episodes from the 80's. That came out of the blue as the last couple years was the release of the complete first season of 36 ~38 episodes. While it's not as produced as the original Volume 1 by Shout Factory. Its the complete package. Even the episodes that were never aired when DIC had that retro block on THIS network some years ago are on it. I did not marathon the whole thing yet, but I'm guessing everything after episode 36 may be in whatever broadcast state they are currently in. A $15 price tag doesn't pay for a restoration like they keep doing for 80's Transformers the Movie.
On the Anime side of things, Samurai Pizza Cats has been on Blue ray for a while from Disco Tech Media. They still have the Japanese language on Dvd but the full 52 episode English dub from Saban is on Blue ray.

It's a bit different assuming its not a meme or weird induendo. For something a little deep involving cat boys from the 80's with a little symbolism. Night on the Galactic Railroad, once you get past hearing Ash Ketchum's voice its the complete opposite of what the title suggests. Don't forget your floaties, the pool gets deep.

On a side note:
The two Bucky O'Hare figures from Boss Fight Studios have been on pre order since June. They said it would be sometime in the fall so the best guess I can make would be some time In October or November. The figures consists of Captain Bucky and First Mate Jenny for roughly $34~$35 each. Pre orders can be direct from Boss Fight Studios or from places like Big Bad Toy Store. Considering its a small company and Jenny was never produced to complete the original toys. This a good chance to support the series and hopefully if they sell enough well get new figures for the rest of the main cast.

Archie, Sonic, and Sega of Japan
General | Posted 8 years agoI'm only starting to hear about this, but did Archie really forget to pay Sega of Japan to renew their comic license? I've been hearing all of Archies Licensed titles have been put on M.I.A. status. With the Feb or March Sonic titles being canceled as a street date with no further comments on the issue. I don't know what the sales numbers were but it did last much longer than Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and that sales were good again since Penders left with a bridge burning fest with Archie.
Kind of sad if it did since it would have been really abrupt. They were still promoting the next issues and had open plots. If it is canceled they would have to sell off all existing back issues and collections including the ones you see at the groceries. The reason why I even noticed Archies Sonic series was because of Sonic SatAM. That and the fact I had just finished caring about where ever TNMT left off at when it vanished. If it follows the same pattern something is going to replace it. However one speculation I'm hearing is current Archie wants more in house. So were going to get more Riverdale. Yeah.. that .. thing.
In the event that it is canceled. RIP Bunnie 1.0, Antwon, Sally, Dulcie, Rotor, Bunnie 3.0, Uncle Chuck, etc.. they will be missed as they are Archie's property not Sega of Japan. Lets just hope Sonic Boom will never be a future template.

This validates almost every one on <insert name> Art or <inset name) Finity that has ever created or drawn sonic based characters. Like others have said this is either a brilliant marketing move to push what hopefully is an average to decent game, or create a flood of Source Filmmaker material. Considering I've seen Windows listed as a platform. I am almost certain porn will be involved in some way. By the rushed look at the interface it looks like an expanded version of that flash based Sonic character maker. In all practicality there are probably a few base body types based on the main characters and variations of each. I don't think there's anything female along the lines of Rouge's body type, but possibly along the lines of Blaze and Cream for shape. From the trailer I don't think there's much in terms of clothing in the first place to suggest gender aside from eye lashes. Otherwise this will be interesting, especially once people start moding the windows version.

I heard of this earlier in the year, however I'm not holding my breath since the last small company that tried to license figures.. fizzled. However these look really good in concept so far. They are going to be 4" tall and have extra faces, hands, and accessories like Revoltech figures. I'm assuming a limited run if they make it to production. Hopefully they are close to these photos then if they can sell well (Jenny might) we'll get the rest of the main cast.

If they're going to make movies based on almost every plot point from V: the mini series, :Final Battle and the second Generation. You'd better have Robert Englund or a creepy alien hybrid baby somewhere in the cast. Otherwise make it more like the book that V and others were derived from. I heard that is a good sci-fi read.
At best Resurgence is for when you don't really have anything else better to watch. I'm hearing a lot of talk about Finding Dory though and Ed O'Neill is also in it.

What everyone is saying is that the license holder wants Digimon to be a child-friendly property. Apparently Angewomon's cleavage and original clothing design isn't kid friendly. So Mega-House had to pull production from retailers outside Japan and Asia last minute. A pre painted PVC figure of around $150 us (that looks frekin great) and not to be played with is some how meant to be targeted to children. Given the age of the franchise and design of many other female figures Bastemon, Lilithmon, Rosemon and Jugmon AKA Mervamon to name a couple.

I find that hard to swallow. It's one thing to censor for broadcast and some print media but this is like saying Nami and Robin merchandise cant be sold outside Japan unless they are flat chested and in full shirt and sweater. From what I'm hearing from US posts is Saban does market the series for international broadcast before and after they lost and reclaimed the license. But god damn, what parent is going to buy a $150+ object for adult collectors for their child. Its like parents saying Fox should be ashamed of them selves for making Deadpool a hard "R" rating after taking their 8 year old to see it. Despite most kids wanting to see it because of the redband and knowledge to the actual comic that most parents are oblivious to. No actual retailer (except the specialty importers for collectables) would even sell it. Let alone get it since Mega-house is said to not sell directly to retail outlets. To get the figure now you'd need to pay $300 to $450 US and hope the people on Ebay claiming to ship from Hong Kong or Japan are legitimate. Given the size is 22cm (or something metric), it isn't worth the price now no matter how good it looks.

Saban barely give us decent crap for most of their licensed merchandising. Let alone have the balls to release all the Digimon films they have done including an un Frankensteined cut of the first three films. They know it doesn't sell well outside of Japan and most folks usually look for import collectables (ie, D-arts and GEM). There's no next series, line or anything done to capitalize on the games and existing Digivices they do have licensed. I dread the day I see them Dub and edit the Tri OVA. Thank god they don't seem to have the rights to the gaming market or they would screw up the dialog for Cybersleuth with bad dubbing misplaced accents.
The flip side is Megahouse was told of this back in the fall some time after the preview. Then never bothered to inform buyers months ago when everyone was placing their advance bulk orders. In which case it's more of their fault for never informing buyers until the last minute. Which then limits the figure count and jacks up the price when re selling to foreign buyers. Most folks probably bought this with the intent of having both the Angemon and Angewomon figures together to make a pair. Well good luck doing that now.

The Flash is dead..
General | Posted 10 years agoAccording to Adobe the new developer tool is now Adobe Animate CC. They will still be able to run .swf and other flash files but now they are openly telling folks to use HTML5. At least that's the gist from the articles I've read. I know there are some folks who either make .webm along side .swf files for 3D stuff. But for those interactive turntable type flash's and games. How exactly will those be done in HTML5? They already discontinued flash for mobile devices with 3rd party browsers providing some .swf support, YouTube is supposed to be running in HTML5 to some degree. How shockwave fits into this is unknown. Hopefully it'll mean some adds and those wiki pages will stop freezing up every time they try to load.

Breasts.. How to draw them
General | Posted 11 years agoThis is something I stumbled across recently. Among some of the other things I've read and seen about natural anatomy or how things are shaped and positioned. This was quite informative on the basics. Regardless how some folks draw "boobs", real nor not. Knowing some of the smaller details can make them look better. Granted it doesn't go much into the various shapes and the sizes associated with those shapes or sizes (that's somewhere else on the internet). It'll at lease illustrate a sense of how they are suppose to look. Just try not to giggle at any point, otherwise folks will question why you are browsing this site.

Now that Disney is the empire, what the hell is part of the cannon? Last I heard Ahsoka is now part of cannon, and every story made after Return of the Jedi is now reclassified as fan fiction. What can we expect from Disney and J.J. Abrams in a year? Stand alone stories based on the franchise? A partial reboot to make Ep7 and on the new franchise cannon? Or more Jar Jar Binks for the sake of Disney being kid friendly with it?
Personally I want to see when or what ever the next official sequel to Kingdom Hearts (if ever) is, will include Luke and a fight against Vader and the Emperor.

General | Posted 11 years agoand no signs of salvation. This trailer looks interesting mostly since its rumored that the Fantastic Four is getting yet another reboot from Fox. Hopefully it'll be good .the third time around. Especially after hearing a rumor that it was pushed back to 2015 ~16ish, due to the hype (and sucess) around Guardians of the Galaxy.

I can only wonder if Dez or anyone else in the fandom will do any tribute. Archie's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Bucky O'Hare were the only anthro comics I was into. His three skunks were the first Anthro porn I ever saw in the first Genus I picked up back in the 90's when I had just started into Gold Digger and I think Furlough was in the teens when I grabbed an issue. Even the first nude whe I decided to try and draw nudes (and less Archie Sonic-ish) freehand was one of his skunks in that very issue. He had a very recognizable style, that stood out much like Robert Crumb, Reed Waller, Milo Manara, Martin Wagner, and Hajime Sorayama when he draws female robots. The only artists that I'd think could have come close to Jim in their own work/style that Ive seen were probably Nexus (might be more than one by this name), Karno, Monty, and Dr. Comet with a nod to Asthexiancal. Despite, for the most part, there really isnt many who's work is that recognizable, and has left that much an impact on the fandom or other artists like Jim had. Sure he tought Dez a few things but even she has her own style which is a variation of Jim's stripped down style.
Official or not he was in some way part of the beginnings of the current/modern furry fandom when it started to grow out of a small niche here and there. Then expanded as the internet began to grow out of news groups and into web pages. There are only so many artists who have been drawing in some degree since the late 80's and early 90's that are associated with the underground and independant furry theemed comics, shorts, pin-ups and porn (Doug Winger included). Not to say the japanese didn't already have their own thing going at the time but that's a story for Alt.*. Even now in this day and age where the only comics available at the grab and go's are monthly Archie collections. Jim still found a way to keep doing what he always did, drew great looking furrs who were anatomically both human and animal. I'm going to miss waiting for the next anything from skunkworks now.

Apart of the fact that Knuckles looks like he has a little to much HGH. I'm on the impression the TV show for Cartoon network sounds like its not coming from Japan. Then I learned that the old "Happy Days" show gave us more than jumping the shark... Now I feallreally bad for little Judy (Jamie Foxworth). Barely one season and you cease to exist. Then after hearing how Nintendo owns two porn titles I was instantly thinking; Wow, what hasn't the JAV industry tried to do. To my suprise not only was it made in America, sars Ron Jeremy (Mario will never look the same again). But aparantly it is either the most denied porno to have ever existed, or is so bad that you'll regret knowing it actually exists.
Actually I kind of do regret knowing that it actually exists after actually seing that Cinema Snob got wind of it back in 2010, and ripped into it.. Yes it's really bad even for really cheap porno.. That just means Flesh Gordon is still the greatest porn parody ever. (but thats a different set of reasons)

I know , Nintendo was doing this crack down in the mid 2000's on parodies of it's properties.. However that was more related to a pokemon porn done outside of Japan. Despite that, Super Mario Brothers hentai even now is almost non existant unless it involves yoi Chubby Bowser, yoi Muscle Bowser, gender swapped Bowser. Good god, there are more Bowser hentai's than there are power up's in the entire franchise. None of the posturing ever stopped any of the Pokemon shit that was made between ~1998 and now. They even had a hentai artist doing the artwork for The Electric Tale of Pikachu, and did it quite well.. Normaly I wouldn't have cared if it was not for the fact Marvel did somthing similar with the origional Fantastic Four film in about the same decade. Except that was a legit film that was realy, really, reallly bad. About the only good thing I can see in it are all the dirty mario puns and crazy ideas for actual mario related hentai.
In a way I find it quite confusing how Nintendo will go gang busters on this but does jack about anything coming out of Japan on any of its licenses. Yet they had the nerve to give us the poorly done live action film back in the 90's. Marvel had enough common sense to scrap Fantastic 4 after it was made. It's not like one piece of shit will take away income from another piece of shit, unless one piece of shit is on fire. Yes, even Nintendo can be inconsistant and down right questionable on how it goes about protecting its properties. But to be on record owning and sitting on two porn licenses?

Ponies and the legend of Zelda...?
General | Posted 12 years agoMy Little Pony: Tomodachi wa Mahou in japan now has an origional manga based on it. It is drawn by Akira Himekawa, who has been drawing various Legend of Zelda mangas over the years. It started printing in a zine on August 12.

What did I learn after all of this? First, I and everyone else can now connect My Little Pony to the Legend of Zelda. Second there's now very little difference between the shows style and anime. Lastly the franchise is now in an unholy state of dominance over the masses. If somthing isn't done soon we shall all become part of the heard, and all shall be "pony". Very pony.
It's fortunate I've just discovered the second serries for Yondemasuyo. All those pastells,. Up untill now I thought manga was supose to be in greyscale for a reason...
