Boost: Ollie Canal YCH
General | Posted a year agoI'm honestly surprised the second slot on this YCH hasn't gone yet. Ollie does really pretty work, and I expected this to vanish much quicker than it did. Check it out!

More writing: a serial!
General | Posted 6 years agoAll right, I'm going to be trying something new: writing a serial!
I've set up an account over on Patreon, with the first installment open to the public. I hope to be posting two installments a month, and to get this to last at least a year.
Come check it out!

More writing!
General | Posted 6 years agoI have been at work on writing in my background. Most of my stories have not yet found a home, but one finally did! I've posted an excerpt from it.
And I may eventually post more of my writing here, depending on how well I do at finding other homes for it.

"Love my art, love my fandom"
General | Posted 10 years agoGranted, I'm sure that artists probably get a fair bit of grief for posting things that are polarizing. However, I'm noticing a bit of a trend lately where some artists are basically saying, "If you watch me, and I've started focusing on a fandom that you don't appreciate, you still can't leave. It's my art and I want to draw things that I enjoy and if you stop watching me over that, then it upsets me because you're telling me I can't draw what I like."
Thing is, there's no real contract involved in watching someone on an art site. I'm not going to throw a tantrum when I stop watching someone who's been posting their work for free and post a "you suck because you draw X" message...but I'm also not going to spend my time and effort on something I'm no longer enjoying. There's maybe a slight benefit in letting an artist know that you miss something they used to draw in that it may remind them of a market that could be profitable...but it's also possible that the Muse has completely moved on or they're getting everything they need out of their current oeuvre and don't care to deviate. My observational experience has generally been the latter, so I don't tend to speak up about it. Even mentioning that I'd be interested in commissioning/supporting Patreon/etc. if they drew more of what I'd been originally drawn to feels kind of like a threat, and I don't want to stoop to threats.
So, yeah, I get disappointed, but that's the way of life sometimes. I'm not sure what I can do about it save to pick up and move on.
And, yes, I'm sure some people might guess what this is in reference to. It's only partially right (there are multiple fandoms I've seen this with regard to), but there is an element of truth to it. That, however, is a subject for another time.

Whee, a posting! A veritable posting!
General | Posted 17 years agoI figured that since I had an account here, I should actually post something in it. The story's a couple years old, but maybe having something up here will inspire me to write something more. Other than research papers for school.
