What a Weird Few Years It's Been
General | Posted 4 years agoAs always, I'm still alive, I just don't communicate much if at all through FA anymore.
I've been all over the place with work being hectic, wasting time on stupid things, and finding motivation to work on some things. I kinda wanna commission a few pieces of art again, maybe a collab or two, and also potentially post some art I did commission early in the year, but that's effort and I'm ever stuck on being low effort when it comes to commissions.
Mostly, I've been keeping up with people through Discord, Telegram, and games I've got in common with friends. I'm on a bit of a mobile kick lately - mostly I play Genshin Impact on PC, but have it on my phone if I need to do something while not near my PC. I'm also having fun with Alchemy Stars, World Flipper, and still doing some bare minimum effort with Dragalia Lost, but I feel like the game is past its prime.
Playing Overwatch still on PC, and I've got a few other games, but there's not many I'm finding that I just must have or need to play in multiplayer conditions. Waiting for the next game that'll have me needing to play with friends, and it seems like many of those just get delayed.

I'm Alive.
General | Posted 5 years agoI mostly just haven't used FA or commissioned in about a year and a half. I moved again, this time to Tennessee, and had been a bit busier with that than working in my previous location. I had other games, hobbies, and life distract me, and didn't really have a drive to seek out commissions. A few people tried poking me on here but most of the people I speak with from FA knew I was still alive and well through Discord or Telegram. x3
I've slowly been lurking around here again, drumming up some ideas and potentially looking into getting some art again, but it will be a pretty casual process. Maybe some collabs, maybe a new character in the works, but equally likely to just be some good ole naughty times with my characters. Sorting my gallery by views/comments/favorites etc. has been interesting, seeing trends of what tags are most search, versus which were most liked, and the two not lining up is amusing.
I've spent a ton of time playing Dragalia Lost, a solid mobile game, otherwise staying the course with Overwatch, and more recently Deep Rock Galactic for multiplayer things on the computer. Single player, it's been Octopath Traveler, Chimera Squad, Hades, Gloomhaven, Chimera Squad and more...when you get furloughed from work for a bit you've gotta stay entertained somehow! That time's getting cut back though, as I'm returning to work.
In the case of Octopath and Dragalia...if I do get some art commissioned, one of my characters dressed up like characters from either of these is a potential idea.
Maybe my muse and interests will keep me active around here in some capacity, but my consistency even when I've said so is amusingly inconsistent at best!

Upload Spam Incoming...Maybe?
General | Posted 8 years agoI've been getting things in stock to kick off the new year a bit better and things here, while kinda lower on the list yet, are one of the parts I'd like to better address.
I am much further behind on uploading and sharing things I've commissions than I'd imagined. Not horribly so, but some pieces I've had for close to a year and they haven't been shared with many/any. Whoops! I also am in process of following up with a handful of artists about commission statuses. I've got a few approaching a year again, and that's not a play on it recently being 2018.
Other than that, work is slowing down, so I've been playing WoW very casually (been gone so long from that game melee hunter whaaaat? Enjoying that.) and started up Overwatch again as more of my friends have been playing that. Maybe I'll touch on writing more or whipping up some more detailed naughty scenarios for my girls, but I won't aim to be that ambitious about things yet!

Games, Commissions and General Driftery
General | Posted 8 years agoToday's my final day of vacation, I go back to work tomorrow morning. I've been keeping busy in silly ways but want to make use of FA more. So what's been going on?
I wasn't able to go to Megaplex due to work, but was able to head out the day it ended to hang out with
Chaosie,
Mosa,
Blackmist333,
Miiyori, and
Shinigamiinochi. A few days of drinking and hanging at the parks with them was a good time, especially meeting some new faces who weren't there at Megaplex with us last year. I hit the tail end of it, so it wasn't long before some had to head back home. I stayed an extra few days to hang out with Chaosie and Mosa, wherein I introduced them to tequila, with an amusingly poor result. Whoops.
Most of our group was plagued with misfortune at some point, from lost wallets, lost luggage, car trouble, minor injuries...I seem to have dodged that so far. With heading back to work tomorrow, am I still allowed to blame it on the curse if something happens to me? Either way, I'm hoping the dates for Megaplex line up more in my favor next year.
I'm trying to be a bit more social lately, something I've lacked since moving for work. I didn't really realize just how much I was avoiding it until I got home from vacation. On that, I want to start playing Overwatch with friends again, and I recently started a fresh character on Moon Guard in WoW. (Love it or hate it, it's the first I've gone back to it in years.) I don't know how long that will last, but I've been enjoying it off and on so far. If you play on that server, let me know.
Otherwise, I've been playing games on PS4 since I recently picked one up, so Nier Automata, Persona 5 and some others have been eating up some time too. Debating if I want to try Destiny 2 when it releases, and whether I'd like it on console or pc. That's a huge if though. I didn't play the first one, but most of my friends who did enjoyed it.
Most of my commissions need to be posted or followed up on, and I want to get more in the works. Collabs, solo pieces, whatever floats my way.

Drift's Just a Little Behind...

Something like that. I've been keeping up with notes and the few commissions still going through e-mail and whatnot, but that's about it.
I've been really busy with work, but I've got a small stretch here where I feel like I've got time to catch up some. Should have a piece or two to upload today/tomorrow. Need to get back on track and get some collabs going again too, but I've been saying that for a while sadly.
Built a new computer, but haven't really gotten any new games to really see how well it goes thus far. As always...I'm alive, just really haven't been anything near active with FA.

Fiber, yay.
General | Posted 9 years ago...and not the kind that makes you poop.
Where I moved is built with fiber ready...so I spoiled myself and got at&t fiber. Pretty awesome so far, blows the decent internet I had prior to moving out of the water. Drift has so much to catch up on now! Gotta get commissions finalized, uploads taken care of...all sorts.
Need more collabs too! Anyhow, I'm around again, since I was pretty much invisible over the last 10 days. x3

Driftshift (Moving!)
General | Posted 9 years agoI'm really in the mood for some commissions, but haven't had much time to find open spots or to plan some out. Why? I'm moving, as mentioned in the title. Took a promotion that also has a relocation factor, so I'm working out of a hotel for a week, and then I've got a few days to find a place to live. I have a few places in mind, but haven't had a chance to go see them due to work hours. S'all good though, I think I'm going to enjoy the new challenge.
Still...commissions! Drift wants. Naughty! Clean! Everything in between! Heh. That and some collabs potentially too. I've got a new character in the works that might be fun too. Haven't ironed stuff out, but I know who I plan to work with in creating it and she should be fun once created! Just gotta get settled or have enough time to iron the rest of things I'd like out.

Darkest Dungeon, and looking for other games...
General | Posted 9 years agoYeah...bought Darkest Dungeon during the holiday sale, quite happy with it. I should have listened to a few friends who thought I'd enjoy it way sooner.
The Herowarz global release is closing in March, probably to go back to the older version, since it didn't launch so well. That means Drift wants to find another game or two to sink some time in to. Dunno what it will be yet, I feel meh about most of what I have seen. Would love for games like Lineage Eternal or Lost Ark to be closer to release, even if they end up being overhyped.
Still plenty of art to upload, though the commissions I'm waiting on are few, so there's not a whole lot coming down the pipeline. Might fix that in February or sooner, who knows. What character would people like to see more focus on? Also might do another art with my character sort of thing, maybe even offering it to someone mentioning what character I should focus on. Sneaky.

"Oh my, I haven't seen you in a year!"
General | Posted 9 years agoIt's coming.
I'm just warning and potentially annoying everyone with it a bit early.
Drift's around as always, just haven't commissioned as much while waiting for some to complete...I'm still behind on uploads as well. Whoops. They're with artists I trust though, so I'm not worried. Updates or knowing whether they're being worked on would be handy though.
I'm playing Herowarz still, which is surprising. I think I've been going since July or early August...so it's the longest I've stuck around with a game in the last few years. Still willing to play others, but haven't had mutual interest in games among friends lately. Tried a couple, but they haven't really kept my attention. What games are people having fun with lately?

Four Days
General | Posted 9 years ago...longest string of days I've had off in a row since I think Megaplex in August. I had to think about how long it's been, damn. Been traveling more, supporting other stores, and I have more upcoming projects to travel for. Definitely nice for my career, just a more hectic time than I'd previously dealt with.
As always, Drift is still alive. I'm once again behind on uploading, but plan to catch up most of the way over the weekend, so yay more art! I have more commissions hopefully finishing up as well, so there's still a stream of mostly naughtiness from my girls. x3
I may have to think of a raffle to do. I enjoyed doing them, just haven't quite had the time for it.

Drifted For Another Year
General | Posted 9 years agoYup, one year older. One more and it'll be magic number 30.
Beer has made this a relaxing night off. :3 And a few commissions were completed recently so that was great as well!

Whoa, It's a Drift
General | Posted 9 years agoWork has been slightly more annoying lately so I've been a lazy shit when I'm home. That said, I'm paying more attention to FA again so I thought I'd push the other journal off.
Loving the big downsize on my watchlist I did before I took a break. Sure I'm probably missing out on some art here and there, but a lot of it was inactive/mostly inactive or just people I didn't really see a need to continue watching. Now I'm able to keep up with submissions and actually have time to look at most of them rather than sift through.
I've got about three or four collabs that will be happening, but I'm still willing to do more. Since I haven't spent in a while, or in general on other things, I'm look to split commissions with people to get some variety and fun art going.
Also playing Herowarz for amusement. Pretty fun for a f2p. Slowly getting back into the groove with OW, but just haven't been around when friends are playing so that's been a bit slow.
As a bonus to anyone who actually reads this, ask any of my characters a random question and I'll try to answer as amusingly and fairly true to character as possible. That said, Rute's eyepatch isn't getting answered cuz I know some bozos who would definitely ask about it. x3

A Plex of Mega Proportions
General | Posted 9 years agoYep. I'll be in FL for the weekend, flying down there today.
I'll primarily be pun torturing goobers by the name of
Chaosie
Mosa and
Blackmist333.
Should be at Mosa's table on and off, so come buy things from him and you might meet the dumbass behind the Driftlock as well. Free puns with every purchase while I'm at the table. :P You can hit up Driftlock on Telegram if you just can't hold your excitement in to meet. No promises though, won't be checking it much as primarily there to be social and hangout.

More Collabs, More Drift Randomness
General | Posted 9 years agoI really come and go on here anymore. Dunno what's up with that, maybe just burned myself out a bit searching for commissions left and right and generally not having great luck with it for a time. I may be browsing around more again, we shall see.
One thing I would like to continue offering is to collaborate with other people in getting a commission. I've enjoyed the results from ones I've done in the past few months, and it's nice to see my characters in a wider variety of situations and with characters other than my own. So if you're interested, let me know - typical each person pays half, unless there's some specific reason to make that otherwise. I'll be off and on for the beginning of August, but mid-late will definitely be up for it.
Aside from that, there's nothing new here. I may possibly be moving later this year, but that's still not even close yet. The thought it amusing though. Been playing a bunch of random games with nothing really sticking. Overwatch is fun, but I've been taking a break from it.
Currently messing around with HeroWarz...which I must say is certainly...amusing. The character/class I've played most thus far is a 9 year old loli who shoots water from a fish-gun, summons tentacles and throws killer whales at people. Then there's npc's talking about pooping in a forest, and the nonsensical manner of the story.

Please Hold...Driftlock is Currently Loading
General | Posted 9 years agoWork was down to half management for a bit, which left me in charge. Few hectic weeks were had, but I survived alright, if a bit tired often. After the Memorial Day weekend is over, I'll be looking forward to a light June.
The way things worked out, I had 15 vacation days to spend...by the end of June...so in the span of 5 weeks, I'm only working 14 days...aw yeah. Drift will be around some again!
Playing Overwatch, commissioning, and who knows what else. I'm far behind on FA.

Hi.
Submissions Coming...Sometime...Maybe
General | Posted 9 years ago...since that always ends up how it goes when I start to upload a few!
Got one collab done, gotta get the details nailed out with the artist on the other. Woo!
I need to upload some pics, and then also probably cut down on the amount of people I am watching. When I get busy with work and/or gaming, or going out and doing things irl, with the amount I watch I fall behind and miss out on commission or collab opportunities too easily. Basically, I want to set things up so it's more efficient for me when I'm browsing or posting.
If people get unwatched, don't get mad. I just know I'll see your art through the artists who post them, through talking with you, going to your page every now and then, or a plethora of other reasons. You don't have to watching one another to be friends, like some seem to base that sort of thing on around here. Silly people.
Time for food. Oooh, food.

Collabs and Drift Update
General | Posted 10 years agoHeyo.
I've been in a weird place lately, and work is nearing the end of the fiscal year, so there's more to do there as well. As always, I'm not dead, I just haven't been able to dedicate as much time to browsing and commissioning as I wanted.
For those we've laid ideas out with for collabs through Skype, I definitely still want to do them, I just didn't have much leisure time to seek out artists. I'll try to get some good prospects mon-tues, days off for me. It's just been hard trying to keep up at the moment.

Collab Commission With Me!
General | Posted 10 years agoI haven't been commissioning much lately, and want to remedy that. So once again I'm down for collab commissions. Going halfsies or working something out otherwise is fine.
My characters tend to top mostly, but we can work things out if the idea is good.
Would love to keep messing with Rute in Taur and/or Chakat form. Mina might wanna multi-dick someone. I dunno, possibilities! Other characters are willing as well.
If you're interested, let's make it happen. I've got the next two days mostly free and would be happy to lay an idea out or try to find suitable artists. I hate when things fizzle out when there's interest. :3

Deadpool and Driftings
General | Posted 10 years agoDidn't think about it until now...but I've got a long weekend off. I've missed the last few movies I thought I'd like to see...so maybe I'll go see Deadpool rather than sitting on my ass the whole weekend. Not many of my friends currently remain in Michigan, so it would be likely I'd end up going alone. Haha, ah well.
With gaming I am still playing some D3, totally goofed and I don't think I added everyone who was interested yet. Playing some of the new Tomb Raider, that's going well so far. I'm also giving Blade and Soul a try...I'd love to have an MMO I enjoy to play.
Got backlogged commissions to upload as always, gotta get around to some. Drift is very good about showing the world how lazy he is via journals. :)

Diablo 3, Season 5 Anyone? PC.
General | Posted 10 years agoYeah...it's that time again. I'll be playing some Diablo 3 for the Season starting tomorrow. Going to mix up my normal classes and start with a Crusader. I'm going to be following Drahque's leveling guide aiming to hit Torment 6 in just a few hours.
If you're interested in playing in general, or aiming to level and start quickly, let me know. :) I luckily got the weekend off so I'll be pushing for a solid start!

General | Posted 10 years agoThings I've Learning Commissioning Over The Years
General | Posted 10 years agoA bit of a silly rant journal, but if people chime in with weird or random things they've learned, I'd enjoy hearing about them.
These are in no specific order, just random observations.
Avoid any type of emergency or batch commissions unless the artists has an exemplary level of delivering despite whatever situation/reason they took such a large batch was for. Otherwise you're looking at really poor turnaround times (many six months+) or people running off with the money and disappearing.
Generally avoid seasonal or holiday themed commissions unless the artist again has a great track record of meeting deadlines and delivering on expectations. Looking over seasonal art and icons I've gotten in the past few years, I'm at roughly a 30% success rate for receiving the art before the holiday/season. That ends up being a pretty poor use of the icon or art.
Artists with good, clear communication and occasional updates or insight into progress often end up being artists I will repeat commission or attempt to repeat commission depending on availability. I love when artists are very concise about what is happening with the commissioned art and strive to meet expectations they set for it. I've come across a select few artists who simply accept the information and work through it successfully and on a good track record. The rest of the time, if there is little to no communication, I find myself following up months and in multiple cases over a year later. Some of these followups happen multiple times. Shit happens, I get it, but if you made a mistake losing information for a customer, I'd hope your work ethic follows that you'd attempt to amend the mistake and deliver promptly.
Sketches and linework tend to be fair tests of the above paragraph. You don't have to invest a large amount of money to find out if their communication and expectations line up well with yours.
For artists in high demand and/or limited slot availability - plan ahead; plan accurately. It's amusing to me when chatting with artists about how often commissioners tend to completely ignore their ToS or clearly written rules for said commission in their hype to get a commission. I haven't had a flawless track record on this, but my mistakes have been minor and easy to be flexible with. It may end up being a headache for both parties if you're way off the mark though.
Understand the artist's preferred method of communication so you don't miss out. I am guilty of this a handful of times. Some artists tend to use journals or e-mails to communicate. The journals one catches me sometimes as I don't read every journal in my inbox and if I don't specifically catch theirs, I may have missed something. I prefer some sort of direct communications but for some artists a journal works and you'll be more content knowing what's going on with them.
Be flexible. If the artist is communicating difficulties or real life issues directly affecting them or their ability to complete the art, have some patience. I attempt to check for things like this before doing followup notes, as I'd prefer not to be pestering someone who's landed in the hospital, had a death in the family, etc. These are all things I feel commissioners should show some compassion and patience with.
End random! Just felt like sharing.

Back, Relax Time.
General | Posted 10 years agoThat was a rather fun business trip. Met many people, worked crazy hours. I got home and slept for close to twelve hours straight and still don't feel 100%, but we'll work with it. Most sleep I've gotten since Saturday...so six days ago. The only annoying point of the whole trip was being booked through United/American. I normally use Delta, but it wasn't my choice this time. Due to a delayed flight and American Airlines not wanting to do anything about it, I sat around and waited for a flight that would potentially miss my connecting flight due to a delay. Finally they decide yes, it will indeed, and get me on a nonstop flight with United that was two hours later. So...I go to another terminal and security all over again, only to find that this flight is also delayed. Eight hours at the airport I finally get on a plane.
Now it's time to catch up on things here. Sad to see commissions I expected complete or progress made on still not done, but that's life around here. Gonna catch up on journals, submissions, and get a few more commissions going that I talked about with some artists before the trip. Might even try to write some this weekend as I have a few days to take it easy.
