I do not want to hear one more person attacking other peoples political views or threatening to kill themselves.
This is a community of individuals who already face discrimination and rejection by the general population.
Do we really have to tear each other apart like this??
Friendships are being lost and families broke up because of this issue.

As a Journalist I can say that most of what you are seeing and reading in the media is heavily biased in order to sell advertisement spots.
That is not how it is supposed to be. The news is supposed to be objective and informative, but that's not what people want.
Spreading fear and hate is so much easier and grabs everyone's attention, so that is what media companies use.

There is talk about how bad the racism and sexism is going to get, like as if it did not already exist.
I can tell you as a Pansexual multiracial atheist female living in the Southern bible belt that the hate has always been here.
It did not magically appear because one person was voted for over another.
This is a country long divided by racial and gender tensions. It didn't just happen.

It can change though, it's not too late. We can stand united as a people and support one another.
We can come together as a community and find strength in each other.
But the hate has to stop on both sides.

I know I haven't been very social lately, and I have gotten way behind in responding to messages. But there are a lot of things going on in My life right now that are having a heavy emotional and physical impact on Me. I try to act like everything is fine, but it's not. I just had one tonight. Let Me explain:


I just had to spend half an hour drying up and cleaning a flooded bathroom. The reason My bathroom was flooded? My eight year old son, the cause of every flood I have ever had in this house, and My previous apartment.

Apparently he went in there to take a poop. What came out of his other end could only be described as nuclear roadkill logs. The kind of shit that would send the Poo-Pourri lady running for her life. Well, he completely plugged up the toilet with his toxic waste dump. When done, he flushed the toilet. Only one problem. The flush handle got stuck. So a flood of water gushed into and out of the toilet. It was like the Niagara Falls had turned brown. Rather than call for Me, he walked away like nothing happened.

A few minutes later I hear a sound coming from the bathroom. I go down the hallway, and instantly realize what the sound is. I run in to the bathroom to find Lake Shit-more waiting for Me. That was not the worst part though. All of My cats were in there, sitting on anything elevated above the water. I guess they had become stranded when the flood came, and decided to entertain themselves by batting at the turds as they floated by.

So the bathroom is now clean, the cats are on the porch until I am certain their paws are clean, and My son is grounded. A definite FML moment if there ever was one.

I came from a family where boxing was a huge part of our lives. My grandfather was a boxer and all of his children and grandchildren were trained to box.

One of My biggest hero's growing up was Muhammad Ali. He still is. He talked a lot of smack, but he always backed his words up with action. If he said he was going to do it, he did. He didn't just sit around complaining that he didn't feel like training, that he needed a break because it was too hard. He got his ass up and he kept fighting no matter how tired he was or how bad he was hurt. If he didn't know something, he learned, rather than using ignorance as an excuse. He stood up for his beliefs, and paid the price. But he never backed down. He was an inspiration and always stayed true to who he was, even when confronted with public mockery.

If there is one thing that I learned from this man, it is this: Do not pretend to be something you're not simply because it's what is easy or what's popular. No matter what get's thrown at you, get up and stand strong, even if you stand alone.

There are two paths that an individual can take. They can be the cause of pain and suffering. or they can lift others up. Everyone has to decide at some point which way they will go. I do not choose the first path, to tear down others to make Myself feel better. I chose the second path a long time ago. Sometimes we get discouraged by the negativity in the world, but we have to keep trying, keep doing the right thing, no matter what the cost. I refuse to bow down to the hate and join the crowd in order to fit in or be accepted. I love who I am , no apologies. No one should ever have to feel alienated or ostracized for being who they are.
