Not sure how to find art commissions
General | Posted a year agoI know this probably sounds really dumb, but I've never done this before and I'm not really sure where to start, and I'm honestly not even sure this sounds all right. I want to work my way to becoming an Executive Producer of animation and stuff, funding people's art and getting stuff out there, and I was thinking commissioning artwork would be a good place to start, just on the making connections, discovering what styles of artwork different artists put out there. I guess the main thing is that there is so much artwork on here, so many different styles, it becomes hard to find artists that match my personal tastes (no offense to all the other great artists out there who may make really inspired art but may not be what I'm looking for), and even when I do find an artist I really click with their work, many of them might not be open for commissions. I guess what I really want is to find artists who will enjoy working on my commissions as much as I enjoy their art. I guess perhaps the best thing I can do is just start finding artists I really like and following them, and then when they open back up for commissions, that's when I approach them, but I just don't know if there is a better way to approach it than what I'm thinking of doing. I don't know if this post is more me asking for suggestions on what I could be doing, or if this is just my way of thinking things through, and basically a recording my thoughts at the beginning of my hopeful journey, anyway, that's that I guess, and I hope to come back soon as I learn to navigate the whole world of commissioning.
