Hello! It's been a while since I have updated my gallery here hasn't it ahah.

it's been about 6 months since I last actively posted art here, and some may wonder if I stopped drawing altogether. Truth is I draw more than ever! I've just been so busy concentrating on improving my skills and pursuing a career in the game industry and beyond (I currently study game development!). With my mind focused on all these things I have kind of brushed aside my old galleries in DeviantArt and Furaffinity.

However, today I uploaded a bunch of finished illustrations from the past half a year, and I'll try to keep my gallery up to date a bit better now. If you follow me on Twitter, which you should do (https://twitter.com/FirriApril) you know I've been very active there, and I also update my professional portfolio over at https://www.artstation.com/firriapril slightly more often with a bit more variety in the things I upload.

As 2018 is approaching it's final hours across the globe, I wanted to try and get in touch with all of you for once again! While I have shared more than a fair amount of my life's ups and downs in Twitter, I have kept relatively silent here, mostly due to lack of time and energy. However, I thought this could be a good time to make up to that and reminiscent what's been going on in my life the past year!

2018 has definitely been the year of massive change for me, mostly in a good sense! I graduated upper secondary school, moved out to live on my own for the first time in my life, and got a job! Well, not quite in the sense everyone else works, as I am serving my civilian service time due to refusing to join the military, which is mandatory in Finland by the way. Yeah, it sucks, a lot, but I've got a nice job at the local university for the year so it's not the worst form of punishment.

Moving into a new city brought with it new friends and I have been forcing myself out of my half-assed introverted bubble more than ever to meet and hang out with others. Despite living alone in my flat, I can gladly say I have felt like I have more close people in my life than ever before!

Formal changes aren't the only big changes I have gone through this year! This year has also been a year of personal growth and discovery. I can't pinpoint it for certain, but this was the year I finally properly came out being non-binary, and I started embracing it! I found the courage to dress up the way I wanted to and I finally tried makeup. I basically went from this weirdo to being April irl haha. (I mean just compare this pic from the start of the year: https://sta.sh/01itr00xh06b and this from today lmao: https://twitter.com/WolFirry/status.....7315851300864) I have never really had self-esteem issues, but I have definitely felt better about myself this year, I've even dropped some weight by moving more and eating healthier!

I didn't draw that much early in the year or especially during the summer when I was in training for the civilian service, but I did complete the 365-day long daily sketch streak I started in 2017! I got my new screen tablet this year which really changed my attitude towards art into a more professional one, and I caught up with the pace with digital works this winter! I am also happy to say that while I will continue to work at the university until next summer, I managed to secure a study place for the autumn and I get to start studying game graphics in 2019! I am really excited for what next year brings with it

Speaking of 2019, I don't have any new years resolutions, except maybe for trying to finish the storyboards of my comic haha. What I want to do instead is stay on this track I laid down for myself in 2018. I want to keep discovering new things about myself, I want to aim higher with my art, and most important of all, I want to embrace all the friendships I have!

I also want to say a special thanks to all of you following and supporting my work here. I don't say this enough, but trust me, even though I rarely reply to any comments, I still do read every single one of them and I am glad to see you still enjoy my work! 6 months in and it's time to finally open another batch of commissions! The slots will be limited, but not too limited as I want to take enough work to keep myself busy for the rest of the month. Hello, you heard that right, I am finally opening commissions! It's been about a year since I last opened commissions like this, so I am a bit nervous as to how interested people are. Either way, we are doing things a little differently this time. I am not taking these commissions first come first serve. Instead, I'll pick the projects from the comments in here, DeviantART, and Twitter. This should give me more choice as to what I want to work with in case I get more commissioners than I can take, and this should also eliminate the speed competition part of commissioning me. You will still have a chance of getting a commission from me even if you come a week or two late to this journal! Speaking of that, these commissions are open until the end of April unless otherwise stated. If I decide to take more in May I'll do a new journal then. There are no specific amount of slots I will take, instead, I will work through them one by one with the goal of making around €300. I may have registered for my first ever furry convention and I need to make money for that.

Anyway, if you want to commission me, here's how it works:

1. Read through my Commission Terms of Service: https://sta.sh/01t5oupgt7m5 This will help us both avoid any surprises during business. There's also handy general info in there
2. Look through my Commission Price and Technique Guide: https://sta.sh/02bbh96ecvsk You probably want to know what you are paying for :P
3. Reply in here or on Twitter with a short description of what you want to commission. include a link to your character reference(s). Please do not note or dm me at this stage. This helps me organize.
Example: "I want a softshaded full illustration of this character [link to reference] standing on a beach looking at the sunset"
4. Wait until I reply to you and send you a note/dm asking for a more detailed description of your commission. Try to get back to me as soon as possible to ensure you get the slot

And that's about it! Keep in mind that getting a note from me may take a while. I'll start off by only taking 1 or 2 commissions. After finishing those I will come back to the replies and pick the next ones, and continue doing this throughout April until I no longer have pending commissions, or until I decide not to take any more of them. If a lot of people want to commission me it may be that I cant take your commission this time at all.

Another note, due to not yet being fully comfortable with the paint brushes of Clip Studio I will probably not take painted full illustrations at least, to begin with. You can still drop a request for one if you want specifically that type of work.

Hello! I have been pretty silent here, especially recently, so I thought it could be a good idea to let you know whats going on in my life!

To begin with the important bit; I have definitely not stopped drawing even though I posted like 2 pieces the last two months. On the contrary I started a daily sketch challenge this autumn and I have been posting sketches on Twitter for over 80 days straight! You can check them out at https://twitter.com/WolFirry My current goal is to keep this going for at least a year, hopefully longer.

I haven't had the time or energy to do any large pieces or commissions as of late. School has been really draining everything off me and I will stay busy with that for few more months. I am in my final year of upper scondary and I have very important exams still coming. I have been pretty tired and stressed out because of all that but I'll get by. After school I will have a short summer vacation until I have to start serving my civilian service. That will take a year off my life before I can continue studying, but I should have plenty of time to draw then.

Other than that there isn't much to say. To put it shortly I'll still stay inactive to concentrate on school all the way to April-May next year when my school ends. Until that, I hope you all still enjoy the occasional uploads! take care!

Year back I'd have said antisocial in a blink of an eye but now this is a much harder question. I can be very sociable even with strangers but often the thing is that I don't necessarily want to? I require quite a lot of my own time.

Generally yes, but if there's a sad scene in a book or a movie I am crying a river under my feet and can't help it.

I don't go out to see my friends often on my freetime and mainly just see them at school so that's fantastic thing about it. I also like learning.
