Andross Darkheart Key Lore Note Reference (G)
This is just the foundation of the story lore. A more comprehensive story might be added later. Details of these notes are subject to change at any time.
Andross is a dark god, the last survivor of a cosmic civil war, that is imprisoned within an immortal soul that is forced into an endless cycle of death and rebirth. It is a story about how one person had everything, lost it, and will stop at nothing to reclaim it.
Andross' natural state of existence is beyond any conceivable reality. The place he comes is from is impossible for mortal minds to understand because it exists without concepts such as time, space or material. From the perspective of a mortal mind, for all intent and purpose, the place is non-existent. It is forbidden to mention its name, as in it is not physically possible to say it's name, and instead it is referred to in ambiguously vague terms as being beyond, above or outside the creation or circle. It is currently unoccupied as a result of the civil war and it's former residents has forgotten it exists, only Andross and the void gods remember the truth about it. Subareas of this place include the neither, void and abyss. The place might be called the "Whollow Atelier"
Andross is so vastly overpowered he treats omnipotent gods as mere playthings. So absolute is his authority that everything else is considered virtually non-existent before him. That was until he was imprisoned and his powers sealed away. Equivalently yeah turning him into a mere mundane mortal. The only vestiges of his remaining power is the meager ability to erase things from existence. Anything from existence, including the multiverse itself. But such things are a nugatory effort. There are an infinite amount of multiverses being generated every moment. If he destroys one he will be forced into another near identical one and the only loss that will have occurred is the progress he made in that universe. The mechanism that is generating universes is beyond the circle, much like himself, and thus he can't affect it while in the circle.
His objectives are clear, regain his god powers. Either by artificial means, escaping his prison or ending reality itself. He doesn't believe this is the true reality and any actions he takes to reach his goal has no consequences in the real world. He refers to this reality as a dream and as soon as he wakes from his forced sleep this dream, and everyone in it, will cease to exist. It is also similar to him being trapped in a computer simulated virtual reality and to escape it he has to figure out how to shut down the program from within. However, to achieve his objectives, he has to build instead of destroy. Which requires resources and patience. Forces, both intentional and unintentional, work to undermine his eventual return to glory.
Andross, after escaping his reincarnation cycle with the help of the void gods, built his new empire in the heart of Hell. A nexus point that grants him access to nearly every other universe. From there, he lunches his crusade to end reality.
Andross uses his aura to craft demons that are called darkspawn. He can increase the size of his aura, and number of demons he created, by absorbing souls or siphoning off the psychic energy produced by suffering. When his darkspawns die, the aura used to created them is return to Andross to be reused. His darkspawns also share this ability.
Andross forges dead flesh into undead constructs called necross. Necross reassemble and behave as a hive of insects. They reproduce through spores and evolve by stealing the genes of victims they infect. When a necross retains their intelligence through the transformation process they become a revenant and lead the hive.
The void gods were once the celestial children of Andross that were banished to the void during the civil war. The tainted energies of that place corrupted and transformed his children into the void gods. Anchoring them to that realm forever. They manipulate fate from the shadows in an effort to restore their Father's former powers, the only thing that can cure them of their curse. They are the ones that set in motion the events that would lead their Father to Hell to gather enough strength to reclaim his glory. Unfortunately, Andross has forgotten about them after his imprisonment and is unaware of their assistance.
The Civil War, as referred by Andross, was an event that broke an eternal cycle outside the circle. To understand what happened, one must first understand that in this cycle each part is equal to the sum whole and the whole can only exist as long as each part is in unison. This harmony last for all eternity until the Whole made the creation and one of the parts fell into disagreement. This disorder threaten the existence of the Whole. The Whole decided to exile the part by removing it's power and placing it within confines of the circle. The part being equal to the Whole would require that the Whole consent to it's assured mutual destruction to remove the part. The Whole proceeded with the process of it's erasure. However, the independence of the part created an imbalance that prevented the process from being fully completed before the Whole ceased to exist. Residue of that part reamined. A perfect omnifarious collective being that couldn't exist once it realized it had impurities, but it's impurities were the only thing that did survive. The end result was the imprisonment of Andross within the creation. Of course, this is all according to the recollection of Andross who clearly suffered from some amnesia from the imprisonment process.
