SAY NO TO CENSORSHIP! (G)
As many of you may all know, these past two weeks have been absolutely nail-biting and worrisome for the future of the internet and our right to privacy. It all started prior to this when Patreon decided to abolish ABDL content from their platform due to pressure from Visa and Mastercard. Ever since then, many other sites, such as DLSite, Civitai and Tensor have all struck down on this fictional content due to threats of these payment processors they deemed “problematic”.
Things have recently come to a head a few weeks ago, when an Australian-based group of pseudo-feminist Karens, Collective Shout, pressured Visa and Mastercard to remove hundreds of, if not thousands of NSFW games from itch.io and Steam. People rightfully so called them out, but this was just the beginning. Simultaneously, the UK introduced the controversial “Online Safety Act”, which basically uses the “protection of children” as a front to monitor us adults to censor ANYTHING and EVERYTHING that they don’t like, even though it’s completely LEGAL AND FICTIONAL CONTENT. And now, YouTube and Spotify wants us to use our government ID’s to determine if we can enjoy certain content, which is a MASSIVE invasion of our right to privacy. A lot of EU countries, including Canada, where I live, are basically doing this simultaneously to basically make the internet a dystopian nightmare where we cannot enjoy anything that’s FICTIONAL or LEGAL, and basically monitor everyone and deplatform anyone or anything they don’t like.
A lot of great people have been signing petitions and making their voices heard, but it’s going to take a lot more than that to win this war where the safety of the open and free internet is at stake. We need to keep calling our representatives, the payment processors and the groups behind this mass censorship campaign.
Bottom line is, it’s not about protecting kids, it’s about controlling adults.
(Oh, and P.S. Back to Collective Shout, they are also a bunch of hypocrites. They want to mass-censor fictional content that they claim puts women in danger, yet they defend ‘Cuties’, a Netflix film that sexualized REAL CHILDREN, and even doubled down on its defence in the past week. They do NOT care about victims or protecting people at all; they only care about controlling what makes them control us.)
Please make your voices heard, do your part, and SAY NO TO CENSORSHIP!!
