Build to Order Computers and Services (G)
Hi and helloening! Wow, I haven't posted on this account in five-ever! Let me clean off all this dust n’ shmutz.
So, as you can tell from the title of the journal, this post is to advertise my computer services. I don’t know how long term this will be as I’m currently offering this due to the fact that I am currently unemployed. To try and help myself alleviate some financial issues, I’m going to try to leverage my skills to generate some income. So, unfortunately, here’s the ad and how this will be working.
To anyone who’s commissioned a fursuit, or any handmade clothing items, this should feel familiar.
If you are interested in commissioning a custom computer from me, you can comment down below in this journal or you can DM me over notes.
If you already know what you want to get, send me the specs of the computer you want to have built preferably with a PCPartpicker link since that is a very convenient way to point to exactly what parts you want and will show you current price and availability.
In the event that you don’t know what you want or don’t know what parts would be best for your use case then this phase will be the consulting stage. I’ll ask you a series of basic questions along the lines of “What sort of games are you looking to play” or “What kind of programs are you trying to run” to try and get a better sense for the type of load that you’ll be putting on the system. I’ll also ask if there is a specific budget that you’d like to stay within or under. With new parts, sometimes sticking to a very tight budget can be very difficult.
Once the budget and parts have been ironed down, I will ask for a PayPal email so I can send you an itemized invoice that shows all the parts being purchased for your computer build, the build fee and shipping. As for shipping price, I only need a zip code to get an accurate price for shipping a finished computer to a customer. Computers are heavy, they do cost quite a bit to ship across the United States. To that note, for potential international customers, this will be a very significant cost not to mention any associated import fees. I’m more than happy to help consult to help give you a better idea of what to purchase but it will ultimately be cheaper and faster for you to purchase the parts within your own country and have a technician or computer shop local to you build the computer for you. With all that being said, if you STILL want to have your computer built by me and willing to pay for international shipping and associated customs fees, I am more than willing to accommodate.
Once the invoice is paid, that’s where my job begins. I will order parts and wait for them to arrive. Once I order the parts, I can’t make any adjustments to the specification of the computer very easily because this will cause significant delays. If for whatever reason you need to make a change to the fundamental parts (Different processor/motherboard/graphics card), this will cause delays in the build process. If you just want to add additional storage or memory (or other sort of change that doesn’t require parts to be swapped out for other parts) that is more doable since it won’t cause a major delay. Under normal circumstances, I quote a turnaround time of 7 to 10 days from the moment parts are ordered to the moment a system is dropped off at UPS for shipping.
My build process, aside from the obvious computer assembly, also includes installation of operating system (when applicable), drivers, updates, and 72 hours of burn in testing using standardized tools to ensure proper functionality. I don’t include any extra software, unless specifically stated. I will suggest free software available that are useful for a relevant system. For example, I use and recommend using SignalRGB for any system that features ARGB fans and accessories to control and synchronize across all devices easily. It’s a free software with paid premium features but the core function of the software, controlling ARGB lighting, is free to use.
Additionally, I also sometimes stream computer builds on Twitch for customers upon request. If anyone would like to watch their computer being built may request this. There is no additional fee for this, it may or may not add any additional time to your build depending on time availability. My time zone is US Central and I generally goto sleep around 1am and wake up around 9am. Unless I have something else going on during a given day, I have pretty open availability.
I've already mentioned shipping (changes based on location). The only other cost is my build fee. That’s $75 USD. That’s it, no matter the parts selected or builds complexity; the fee will always be $75. I believe this is a fair price on the time it takes for me to build and test the computer. The only note I’ll make for this is any system with custom watercooling. I haven’t decided whether or not I will offer this as a service, mainly because of the upfront required cost, and other potential issues (mostly logistical). Custom watercooling has a lot of additional hurdles that I would need to iron out before even considering offering this. I’m more willing to consider this service for local customers since I won’t have to ship it across the country or internationally.
On the note of local customers, I live in Austin, Tx. If anyone happens to live, say, within 1hr of me, I’m also willing to offer local pickup or drop off service. This will help with shipping costs to help anyone make the most of their budget. I can also offer additional services to local customers such as diagnostics and repair services on existing systems.
So yeah, I think that pretty much covers all the basics. Down at the bottom, I’ve included a few build examples to give anyone a pretty good idea of what to expect for pricing. If you happen to see this post, thanks for taking the time to read it. If you happen to commission me to build your computer, you have my eternal gratitude. Every little bit helps me scrape together enough money to keep paying my bills.

Yes, if you buy a Windows license from me, you will have to pay the full price of it. As a business, legally, this is what I have to do. I can’t purchase a grey market key from <insert resale market site here> because I don’t know how those keys were procured. If you don’t want to pay for that, you’re more than welcome to not purchase a license with your build. Just know that this also means you will need to install and configure Windows yourself. This shouldn’t be too big of a problem for most people. This will save about $100 USD on your build, which can be a substantial amount. What I can provide is a USB key with Windows Installation Media for a $5 fee on a 16GB USB drive. This can be Windows 11 or Windows 10 (despite being near the end of its life) or even a Linux distro of your choice. This will not affect my ability to test the components for proper functionality. Whether you activate Windows after installation is entirely your concern. You can get your key from wherever you like if you don’t want to get it from Microsoft for $119.99 USD.
At this moment, Ram and SSD prices are elevated. There is nothing I can do about this fact. Some parts may be out of stock, some kits may suddenly increase in price. This price elevation may also affect graphics card prices. For this reason, I cannot guarantee any prices for more than 24 hours. Part prices are subject to change unexpectedly. To help illustrate this possibility, I have included the current (as of this post) price of the systems I linked above. Any deviation in price will be reflected in a difference compared to those.
I build computers for a fee of $75.
Shipping will be calculated based on the customer's location.
The price of the computer does not affect the price I charge to build it.
Invoicing will be done via Paypal. Work will start only after the invoice is paid in full.
Average turnaround time is 7 to 10 days.
Watching your computer being built live is available at request.
Local customers will have the option to pick up their completed system for free or dropped off for a fee instead of paying for shipping.
