Yesterday I made the long anticipated plunge and announced on Twitter that I will no longer be going by Sokalo. With this name change comes a new FA account, so if you want to keep up with my work (as incentive, I actually have been creating a fair amount more than usual), then please follow me at my new account:

I encourage you to follow me over there! The later half of 2019 has been bountiful for me with the recent addition of my iPad, and I've begun to delve into cel-style artworks! So not only will there be more content, as this style is much faster for me to produce, but you'll also get that delicious combination of digital painted pieces and cel-shaded ones. I'm looking forward to continue exploring what Furry is to me under my new moniker and I hope you'll join me.

Why the name change?
Sokalo is the name of my retired fursona, however, the name itself has never held any meaning-- I quite honestly thought it just sounded cool! Sokalo represents a different time for me, and its one that I've grown well past. Truthfully, I've felt quite bound by the name for the past 5-6 years and always wanted to have the courage to move on to something new. Now that my fursona now goes by Cole, a shortening of my legal name, I really have no need to go by Sokalo any longer. The name will always be a reflection of who I used to be, but it isn't who I am now.

Why ViolentFumes?
To be frank, it's just a play on words of a band I enjoy, Violent Femmes. Plus I find it aesthetically pleasing :^)
I originally wanted something based off of my name, Cole, but FA no longer transfers abandoned accounts and I couldn't think of anything witty that involved 'Cole' to serve as a Twitter or FA handle, and I wanted to ensure that I had consistency across all of my platforms. ViolentFumes works because I've been using it for years elsewhere, for just about as long as I've been using Sokalo, and as it's more of a title than a name, it ensures that I have the ability to grow at my own pace without feeling that I've evolved past the identity.

Down the line I plan on creating a logo ft. an angry cat with fumes coming out of its mouth, which kind of sweetened the deal for me because that would kick ass.

What else has changed?
My twitter handle has also changed from @/KingxKalo to @/ViolentFumes, and my dA has changed from /Sokalo to /ViolentFumes! Again, consistency across the board. I still have the @/KingxKalo handle, but it now resides on my abandoned 'normie' account. Anyone attempting to visit my dA through /Sokalo will be rerouted to my new handle, as dA stores previously used handles.

I think that's a fair enough explanation, but if you have any questions or concerns, please let me know.
