2021 Update and the Future (G)
Hi folks, I'd like to put out a little update on what I have been, am, and will be up to. We've got good news and bad news, so let's get to it.
First off, some good news. I've had plenty of people wondering how I've been doing, but haven't really been responding. I'd like to apologize to anyone who has tried to contact me--I'm really not good at text-based conversation. At all.
I've actually been doing rather well throughout the current Plague. I've been working night shifts at a local grocery store, and am even able to get vaccinated soon! Unfortunately, the hours are really destroying my ability to do, well, anything. This brings us to the bad news.
Shadow War is, for all intents and purposes, cancelled. I truly hate to do it, but I am going to be ceasing work on the comic and have no current plans to continue it in the future. This goes for the sequel as well, and any and all related stories. I'd like to consider it in "indefinite hiatus", but I honestly just don't want to do it anymore.
I really want to tell the story of Shadow War and it's long-planned sequel to be called Lightbringer, but my heart just hasn't been in it for a while and I find it difficult to bring myself to work on it. I put a lot of love, time, and energy into developing the stories, and I want more than almost anything to tell them, but I simply cannot do it anymore.
There may come a time in the future when I can pick it back up, at least for Lightbringer (which was the story I wanted to tell the most), but currently no plans are in the works. I'd like to apologize to everyone who enjoyed it up to this point and know that I am more than anyone else saddened by this circumstance. If there is enough interest, I may consider writing up a treatment summarizing the rest of Shadow War if there is enough interest in it.
So let's get back to some good news. One of my reasons for cancelling Shadow War is my decision to begin devoting the limited time I currently have toward working on a completely new story. I have been developing my own universe and fleshing out some stories for it for quite a while, and have made the decision to focus on that now instead.
In the future, I will relaunch my Patreon, and/or similar system, and likely change my username on DA as I sort of rebrand for my new projects. I can't change that here, and I don't really want to have to migrate to a new page, but we'll see.
I'd like extend my sincerest apologies for cutting Shadow War short at such an important point in the story, and would also like to thank everyone who has enjoyed it up to this point. Here's looking forward to a whole new setting, story, and universe!
Finally, I'd just like to put this out there as well:
For everyone who has had to live through the past year. For those who have had it easy, or have had it hard. Who have lost loved ones, or maybe even welcomed some new ones. I wish everyone a bright and positive future--Even the dimmest light shines bright in the dark!
Thanks and best wishes,
Travis
