Recently, I have made the decision not to commission artists until further notice due to the fact that I have ordered 5 pieces all from different artists, and every single piece came out not as described, not reflecting my character, wife, and/or friends’ look even though reference sheets were provided. Artists are not following color codes, they are not adding details and accessories that are clearly visible on the reference sheets and characters, and I even discovered that a couple of artists used AI in the pieces without me knowing and/or making public statements of them using AI.

In a recent experience, I requested a refund from an artist for a piece that didn’t meet our expectations. I explained the reasons for our dissatisfaction, highlighting the repeated mistakes made by the artist. Despite my efforts, the artist refused to issue a refund and even accused me of being a scam artist, mentioning the time and effort they had put into the piece. While I understand the artist’s investment, the final product was significantly different from what we wanted. It seems the artist ignored basic instructions and didn’t use the reference sheet as a guide. Additionally, the artist’s pricing practices are concerning, as the pieces don’t accurately reflect their original designs while using AI without their consent, which should not be used at all by any artist when you advertise that your work is done by hand.

To me, that makes me so upset because I will get criticized for using AI for personal use, yet artists in the fandom are using it while taking our money. Until artists start lowering their prices, follow reference sheets, stop using AI and quit pushing back deadlines, I will not be paying artists. I will instead utilize my own tools and programs to express my fursona, along with my friends and family.
