This around the time the story litterally started writing itself, it had been doing so on and off but it was around this time i basically grabbed the reigns away and said "giddyup" leaving me running behind it with a pen and paper.

"Starscream?"

"ah… Airbrush I can explain…"

Airbrush circled him slowly. "Huh… looking… pretty good. Is that what you went to see Celestia for?"

Starscream nodded slowly. "Yes well The energon issue was… something I couldn't ignore. At least repaired I shouldn't be in anymore risk of … going offline."

"Well thats good at least… c'mon Jade found something."

"oh good I was worried I had disturbed your nap if you had to come all the way out here. Get enough rest I hope?"

"Enough, if someone lets me sleep in tomorrow. You'll find out soon enough, pegusi use up a lot of energy." She gave a wry smirk. "Now come on."

"We were incorrect before about the stone being Pegasi in origin." Jade sighed, laying out a map of ancient equestria. "Pegusi lived in this area around 1000 years ago and there are still cloud settlements in the area today, but before that it was a draconequis settlement. After Discord's imprisonment the rest of the Draconeqqui went into hiding and because of this stone's particular properties for creating extreme weather patterns it became very appealing for Pegusi as a kind of power source. Some fanatics actually saw the site as mystical. "

"but… ARE there any Draconeqqui left besides Discord? As far as we know he could be the last of his kind now." Airbrush tilted her head, looking at the map.

"If there are, it could be that one of them activated the stone. We have to go to the source… if they're still out there theres a good chance Discord knows where they are." Jade looked to Airbrush who sighed.

"Discord isn't just going to volunteer that information, even under Celestia's good graces he has nothing to gain from telling us the truth if they are still around." Airbrush sipped her tea. "We could find that Pegasus he's supposedly friends with but the last I heard the Elements of Harmony were wrapped up in their own tasks. One of us is going to have to try and talk to him."

"Well Airbrush, Discord does seem to have a soft spot for kind pegusi." grinned Harmony.

Airbrush sighed. "The element of Kindness I'm not… we need someone who Discord is less inclined to lie to. Someone who understands him on a baser level."

She looked over at Starscream as did Jade and Harmony.

Starscream, for the first time seeming to be invited into the conversation suddenly looked surprised. "Why are you looking at me?"

Harmony closed the door to her study, away from Starscream's ears while he read up on Draconeqquis customs, and Discord specifically.

"Are you really sure this is a good idea Airbrush? We hardly known Starscream." Jade looked doubtful, hoping her friend would quell her fears.

"I know but this could be our only chance to get information out of Discord… He has to go alone… if we have any hope at all of this working."

"I don't like this, Airbrush." whimpered Harmony. "I know you trust Starscream but… well he's not been known for his loyalty in the past."

"I have confidence that Starscream wouldn't do anything to hurt me, and thats the only reason I'm letting myself trust him. Just give him a chance… he deserves that much."

The other two reluctantly agreed. "Allright… I pray you're right about this."

Starscream once again found himself in Canterlot for the second time that day. Celestia was preparing to lower the sun for the night and Luna was beside her on the veranda to raise the moon. While the other ponies watched the two princesses, Starscream did as he'd been instructed and went to find Discord.

His attention was drawn by a mismatched insect that looked half butterfly and half moth. It flitted toward the garden maze, slowly leading him through the winding garden until he finally came upon the Spirit of Chaos sitting in the centre.

"Sitting" was however a matter of perspective and if Starscream was honest with himself, a generous attempt to describe what he saw. Discord was upside-down, sitting on a table which was also upside down and partaking of a teacup saucer. There was a levitating teacup that was pouring its contents into a teapot before surrendering itself to discord for another snack.

Starscream slowly approached the Draconeequis who looked up from his chaotic teatime. "I assume you are Discord?" Starscream took a breath remembering what Airbrush had told him. "It is a Pleasure."

Discord smiled and righted himself and the table, the Tea set arranging itself neatly on the table, a far cry from its chaotic state a few moments before.

"And you are Starscream…" Discord leaned close to the pony, who once again was surprised to know someone in this world knew his name. "I've heard so much about you, to say its a pleasure would be a vast understatement, your quite known for your discord causing actions in your home world. Id be happy to call you a student under... different circumstances"

Starscream quirked a brow, his surprise turning to puzzlement."Different?"

Discord turned wistful clasping his hands in mock reverence."well as you may have heard, ive turned over a new leaf, seen the light, made a swich... playing for the winning team... you know how it goes... these ponies with thier big eyes... soft demeanour…."

Starscream scoffed. "'Winning team' is a matter of perspective... but alas I share your lament about the influence of this world's... dominant species."

"So why are you here?" Discord summoned a teacup from the table and proceeded to drink from it upside-down. "Let me guess there's an important task Celestia asked you to undertake because she can't be bothered to do it herself."

Starscream sighed. "The stone that caused the portal that bridged my world with yours is of draconequis orign. We were hoping you could shed some light on its true purpose and... the locations of others that have been lost to memory and time."

"Celestia having you do her dirty work… just as I suspected. She has a habit of selective... amnesia... I'll say this, im not the only member of my race, albiet I was the most powerful, they're scattered about equestria now, keeping a low profile, I suppose when news of my reformation spreads to the more remote areas of equestria the less chaotic members will show themselves"

"I doubt whomever activated the stone was one of your less chaotic members."

"indeed… "

"It must be hard for you, a being of immense power such as yourself… forced to languish here on a leash to do the good princess's bidding. You could break free, why not?"

"Not too long ago the Element of Kindess, a pony named Fluttershy, became my friend… she asked nothing of me in return other than to be kind to her friends… It is out of respect for her that I play nice. Celestia for all her faults is not too demanding of my talents."

Starscream looked away. Airbrush was that to himself, a friend he'd never had before.

"I… I can understand… If there was a way to… claim some rule for yourself and still maintain your friendship with this… Fluttershy… would you?"

Discord look surprised and then narrowed his eyes. "I think we're getting off topic, not that I don't enjoy the odd tangent, this conversation is traversing to places I'd rather not be reminded of… Allthough… " He looked at Starscream and smiled. "I have a proposition for you… I'll tell you the purpose of the stones beyond making portals, give you a few likely places for Draconequi to live and in turn you must do something for me."

"Oh really? And what would that be?"

"If you manage to find one of my kind, tell them I have returned."

"Wait that's IT? That is all you want? No relic of untold power? No kidnapping? No sacrifice to your might? You just want people to know you're around again?"

"Calm down, Decepticon, there's always a method to my madness. You'll understand in due time…"

"I don't like knowing when someone is keeping me in the dark… I could be a valuable asset to you if you'd just trust me."


"TRUST YOU? ha! i don't doubt you'd make an amazing student under my tutilage, but i would never trust you, Starscream... cherish the fact Airbrush does, she will be the first and the last."

"How do you...."

"Careful Starscream... Celestia can do worse... you dont want her to do worse"

"You forget Discord... Celestia didn't turn you to stone a second time... the elements of harmony did... and they're busy… "

Discord paused, looking up from his cup of tea

"Anyway thank you, this has been a lovely chat, now… about those portals…"

Starscream had a time trying to get back out of the maze, by the time he did so the sky was filled with stars. He managed to rejoin the group on the Veranda and find Airbrush, tugging her tail.

"I found him… " he whispered.

"What did he say?"

Starscream put a hoof to his lips. "I'll tell you when we get back to your place."

"We shouldn't be much longer. Jade already went back to Trotting ham and Harmony is talking to Luna."

"I'll tell them tomorrow… it's nothing to be done at this hour." He looked at Airbrush, her ears were drooping more than normal and he was beginning to be able to read her subtle body language better than before. "Besides you need your rest."

"You have a point… I'll go Tell Harmony we're heading back."

Starscream flopped into his bed, his wings tucking to his sides and pulling the blanket over him. "ugh you weren't kidding about energy."

"Flying takes up a lot of energy. Something you didn't have to worry about when you were mechanical."

"You'd be surprised."

Airbrush snuggled into her bed. "So what did you learn from Discord?"

A soft snoozing was heard from Starscream's bed, Airbrush looked up from her pillow and smiled, looking at the pony who was fast asleep.

She gave a wry smirk and nuzzled her pillow. "Good maybe he'll sleep in."

Airbrush woke up well after the sun had risen. Streaching her wings she shook off her blanket and walked over to Starscreams bed, she was about to nudge him awake but thought better of it set about making breakfast instead.

The smell of eggs and toast woke Starscream. He woozily opened his eyes, and then promptly covered them with his pillow. He took a deep breath and got up, Streaching his wings, several audible pops as his joints cracked. "eengh… "

"You're awake!"

Starscream continued streaching. "So it seems, what are you doing?"

"Cooking breakfast."

He approached the table and noticed two plates. He tentatively sat down in one of the chairs in front of them.

Airbrush walked over and put some eggs and hot toast on his plate before serving herself. "Enjoy!."

"Is this like the… things… you made me consume when I was human."

"Better, although since it's safe to assume you haven't had eggs before I hope you like them scrambled."

"you say that as if there are more options for customization."

"More than you can count, but try these and see if you like them first."

"This is… different… "

"Heh, do robots eat? I wasn't sure you seemed… more like organic creatures than I thought you'd be."

"We… consume Energon in a similar fashion to … this… although it is often injected into our veins… or stabbed through our spark chamber."

"Spark chamber? What is that exactly?"

"Exactly as it says… a chamber that holds our spark."

"Okay but… what is a spark?"

"Ah… um…" Starscream pondered how best to phrase it with organic biology in mind.

"It's like… a heart… but it is also our soul, our spark of life… when we die we join the all spark."

"So even as a robot… you CAN die…"

"Yes… if we loose our spark… that's it. We cannot be repaired to restore us to life."

"You… are more like living creatures than I realized."

"Learn something new every day eh?"

Starscream finished his breakfast, streaching again.

"So… you can… stab yourself with energon?"

"Er well… I should clarify… that was done with Dark Energon… its not recommended. It tends to cause… unfortunate madness."

Airbrush collected the empty plates and put them in her sink. "We should get to Jade and Harmony, they'll want to know what you learned about Discord."
