Development of this tank started in 2382 after the first failed conflicts with the Orians and was completed a few years later just before the Pegasus Engagement in 2389 in which they proved most efficient against the advanced plasma technology of the aliens, even though the battle was lost against their supperior numbers.
It was accepted as the new MBT to replace the Cheetah, which had done good service in hypothetical conflicts and remains in service as a scouting vehicles, but wasn't suitable to stand against the heavy weaponry the Orians would be using, a mistake that had cost a lot of tankers their lives.
It has remained in service to this day in various adaptions and modifications, the current version being the Manticore 2g (specifications and picture)
