The intention is what books/films made Hazel and I connect, though it also describes which ones spoke to me and stood out as milestones regarding furry works. There's been other furry things influential to me like Ranger Rick and Balto, but these three stand out the most.
- Watership Down for introducing me to a complex, dark story that I could enjoy, and prompting me to read books again.
- Redwall for filling a niche in being the best book series I've ever read, and making me cry more than any other series. It's unforgettable.
- Arashi No Yoru Ni for being the perfect film about friendship, my favorite film forever.
...and it was late at night so I didn't particularly care that the characters don't look like they should. Concept's what mattered more to me.

Hazel's the nickname of a good friend of mine, I first knew him on a Watership Down message board. Redwall's a huge series and most of the books stand alone (although reading in the order they were published is recommended), so if nothing else it's always comforting to return back to the warmth and adventure that the series maintains. The TV show was pretty good too, and I love the voices in the audiobooks which truly give life to the characters. I also recommend The Mistmantle Chronicles, I found it relatable and powerful. But it seems my favorite kind of story is with unlikely friendships and trying to keep them going, which is why I respect Arashi No Yoru Ni the most.
