6 x 11 color pencil and scary things
OK, I said I was going to do a ermine pole dancer...so she's off duty, she's still a pole dancer.
Started out doing her on the pole but not having developed her first, it was difficult(spent 2 days on the pole version). Will do the pole version soon.
I was going to do the BG with water color pencil. Applied some water then freaked and chickened out. Lack of control and the fact that something in my head says water and paper doesn't go together is definitely a stumbling block to advancement.
Relatively quick simple piece for RMFC.
Will be picking at this for the next couple days.
OK, enough of the quick little NK pieces, time for something larger and more dramatic! Time for more Kitties!!! :D
Critique, suggestions?

I can't really critique because I can't draw one hundredth (to put it mildly) as well as you, but I will say that this looks gorgeous so far. Wish I could give you knowledgeable advice in art, but alas, I have none. I look forward to seeing it after you make the final adjustments and changes you find in the coming days.
Your desire to draw less commonly seen "anthros" is commendable. Hope it doesn't give you a headache. Good luck!

This is beautiful! Shading and lighting is excellent and such! Not that I can really say too much, since I'm quite an art n00b, but, hmm....
I'm not sure if it was done on purpose or not, but the shading/position of her ears sort of looks her right ear (the left one, to us) is somewhat pointing to her right (our left), and the other ear is 'pointed' up-ish?
And I'm also horrible with anatomy (especially anthro anatomy, and especially the stretched anatomy of mustelids...!), but it sort of seems like her shoulders are... kind of oddly shaped and big? I'm not sure. That, and I feel like her stomach curves/shadow lines about the navel are little too hard, making it seem like her stomach is popping out to her left (our right) at an awkward angle...
...but, again, feel free to take these with a grain of salt! I've nowhere near as experience and awesome as you have...!
Love the folds/shading of the cloth, and how the background was painted in such a way to draw the eye directly to her...!
(hopefully I'm not doing something wrong and stuff here >.<)

Doing something wrong? No, just the opposite, this is the kind of critique I am looking for. You were correct on all counts and I worked on all issues you pointed out. I have a tendency to get blind to my work, especially if it is a quick piece and it takes time or someone else's fresh eye to see the problems.
I will post an updated pic this week if I can get a good scan.
Thanks!

Playing with water on paper is a bit like getting a kid started in electronics - you must expect a mess! One of the first things one book had was for them to hook up a LED to a battery and thermostat, then start turning the knob. No light, faint light, getting brighter, brighter, wow - really bright, a sudden flicker and it's dead. All to teach the lesson that you can break things and not even know it. In your case, get out something you don't care about - or a fresh piece, and start splashing away. Keep going until you've used too much - just to learn where too much is and what it looks like. Play with it, have fun making a mess - it's the only way to really learn.
The person who makes no mistakes does not usually make anything.
A man of genius makes no mistakes. His errors are volitional and are the portals of discovery. -- James Joyce, "Ulysses"
The most exciting phrase to hear in science, the one that heralds new discoveries, is not "Eureka!" (I found it!) but "That's funny ..." -- Isaac Asimov

The Spellsinger series was one of my absolute favorite reads ever! Been almost 30 years though, Was there an ermine pole dancer? Been meaning to read that series again, still have it boxed up somewhere.
Someone suggested I do a stoat and I immediately thought flexible and pole dancer came to mind.

Sent off for Chorus Skating today and I'm gonna try and dig out the rest of the series. Yeah, Spellsinger is the closest thing to the fandom that ever hit mainstream lit that I know of and I've never once run across a mention of it till you brought it up. Nudge me once in a while and I will do characters from the series. Mudge and WeeGee together would be a great pic and when Jon-Tom woke up being smother/cuddled by Roseroar would also be fun. I'm rather partial to Roseroar. 8D
