When Rodney invited you over to see his 'massive pad', you thought he meant he had a big house. Much to the bear's delight, you didn't realise your mistake until it was much too late.

Boy, am I glad to finally have this one finished.
I started following
dj-rodney 's artwork before he even joined FurAffinity, and I have always been a fan. While I have only occasionally explored my enjoyment of bear feet in the past with pictures such as 'Walk In The Woods' or 'Alternative Hypnosis', I do find their size and predominantly fleshy soles to be extremely attractive. Seeing the particularly appealing way in which Rodney depicts them frequently whets my appetite for them, and inspires me to try drawing them more often. Hence, by means of a tribute, who better for me to draw than his own bear character, Rodney Uriel Medina?
As everyone probably already knows, musky feet are perhaps my biggest fetish, albeit occasionally switching with stomp/crush. Given that I had seen sufficient evidence over the years in Rodney's artwork to believe he shared this particular kink, I decided to base his gift image upon this theme. On reflection, the end product has become something of a combination of various past pictures of mine, with elements reminiscent of 'The Summer Job', 'Feline Supremacy' and 'Post Match Musk'. Should anyone be put off by the musk however, there is an alternative non-musky version available from the link at the top.
This is the image to which I was referring when I hinted last weekend that I was close to completing another picture. Unfortunately I had to revise my planned submission date - a variety of family issues took priority in the past week, and coupled with my job, I decided to submit the picture this weekend instead. In truth, it was a good job that I did, because it gave me more time to work on it and develop it to a level of detail that would not otherwise have been possible - at least not without rushing it considerably.
I started the drawing back in about July/August, though as I am by no means as familiar with drawing bears as Rodney is, I found the exercise quite difficult and never quite got it right. Things were then complicated a bit more by some unfortunate timing when Rodney submitted an updated reference sheet for his character, thereby overriding his old one. As I had originally based my drawing on the old reference sheets, I took the opportunity to adjust various features in accordance with the new design.
As mentioned earlier, the additional time I granted myself by revising my personal deadline meant that I had time to go a bit mad on the colouring and detail for this one. Most notable was my experiment with the texture on the sole - I had tried painting such sole textures in the past (such as in "Annihilation") but it had never turned out as I'd hoped. This time therefore, I used the same technique as with Rexar's scale texture, sourcing a photographic sample that I then colorised, scaled and rotated accordingly to make it fit to the shape. It was experimental and isn't perfect, but I am much more satisfied with the result here than in previous efforts. Of course, the difficulty presented by going to town on the sole texture is that you then introduce the need to implement similar levels of detail everywhere else, hence I added the fur, the wood texture on the table and various other features.
This is one of those pictures that I think ranks up with the best I've done, so I hope it is to everyone's liking - particularly to you, Rodney. Sorry I kept you waiting.

Rex! You don't know how much this means to me; I really love this image! The effort you put into it really shows! You didn't have to go through the trouble of changing the design around to the new one considering it didn't change very much. Hehe You even got one of my favorite angles, perspectives and pose! I really love the texture work you do as well! You have a lot of patience my friend, I wish I could pull something like that off.
I am also honored to know you've been fallowing my art even before I joined FA, I remember first seeing your work on BigClawz and that's what made me want to join in. You are also an inspiration to me and are the reason I'm here today (You and a couple other folks, yes TB I see you!). Thank you so much for being the awesome and nice person you are, sir!
I really don't know how to thank you enough. This drawing really lifted my spirits!

Heh! I'm glad you liked it, Rodney. And my thanks to you for drawing the sufficient quantity of enormously sexy bear footpads to tempt me into creating this picture in the first place!
As far as the reference sheet issue is concerned, don't worry, it wasn't a problem really. On the original, I'd given your character the shirt and blue eyes, as well as not bothering with any visible pads on his hands. In truth, the first version of the linework that I had uploaded to my PC was a bit crappy because the foot just never came out right, so your new reference sheet basically gave me the excuse I think I wanted to start over.
Aye, I have been following you since your red dragon days. I'm still fond of those classic pictures too, though I probably do prefer your bear fursona these days. There just aren't enough of them around by comparison.
(TB? If that's who I think it is, he's to blame for me being here as well...!)
Very pleased the picture is to your liking, mate.

You certainly do have a knack for having some amazing detail in your work when you put the time into it. I'm not that big on bear paws, but Rodney's art has given me a newly-found appreciation for them. Your rendition of his character and footpaw only adds to that, if I'm being honest. Sincerely, fantastic work, RRRex.
Thanks! I'd say follow
dj-rodney if you want to see more of him!

DUDE!! *grins wide* Okay... first off, I would absolutely agree - this is one of the best of the best from you. And what a fitting character to have gotten the RRRex treatment too. Rodney's footpaws are just big, wide awesome ones, and in your style, that works just as good as his. ^_^ I enjoy the fine details that you've put into this one - must have taken ages to complete. Also like that you have the non-musky one too in that you've created pics that have wide appeal among the paw-lovers and pawsexual crowd. Excellent work man, just excellent. ^_^
Agreed! And honestly, it's just the different of a layer or two on the image anyway. Personally, I prefer the non-musk versions myself, and it's not 'cause I hate the scent. I love footpaws and the rich scents, but I've always found that the "musk" vapour and stuff kinda detracts from the image in the sense that it implies the scent is unpleasant, rather than that it's amazing. ^_^ Heh, and all that of course is just how I see it, so yes, variety is a great thing!
Heh - see, that's where I was trying to use myself as a weird example; I love musk, and a LOVE that scent. When my brain sees it drawn though, it interprets it as bad, even though I know it's awesome. So... yes, I have a potentially damaged brain, BUT it's one example of why the musk/no-musk versions are nice. :) With the no-musk version, I can imagine how awesome it'd smell without my brain insinuating that the scent must be awful 'cause you can see it. *laughs* So no doubt there are others too that like the alternate versions for their own reasons. :)
You're quite right, sir! Different skin, different socks and different shoes all seem to combine to create an array of different musks. It's why I like to draw my characters wearing a variety of sneakers, flip-flops, or in the case of Seb, smart shoes. And personally I think quite a lot of those smells can be rather yummy.
Oh my... This pic is so amazing, really detailled, really musky and sweaty... You did an awesome work on it and indeed it's one of the best from you... Congratulations... Rodney and you are the main reason of why I love paws and musk and I'm pretty sure you and him have inspired and influenced many artists who draw paws and musk actually... I have already a pic from him but... Damn... Why you don't take commissions XD
Heh! Thanks - always nice to spread perversio... I mean, inspiration.
Sadly it's pictures like this that show exactly why I don't take commissions. I missed the planned deadline by a week and spent so many hours on it that I would probably have needed to charge a three figure price for it!

I don't really plan deadlines, but sometimes I have a date in my head for when I want something to be finished by. In general, I tend to miss that date.
But besides, even if I had limited openings and took my time, I still don't think it'd be a good idea. As I say, my prices would have to be extortionate based on the number of man hours involved, and I don't like the pressure of producing artwork to somebody else's brief. It's one of the big reasons I never took up art as a career.

This is a very very pleasant surprise!
I always liked the other bear picture you made and secretly hoped for more!
Seeing this made me very happy!~
The coloration and fur detail are amazing, but I think the most interesting part is the foot-print details, the little grooves in the pads.
So good work as usual!
I can't wait to see what you do next! And remember, not all your work has to be extremely detailed, there is a scraps folder for a reason!

I don't wanna waste my time, become another causualty of society,
I'll never waste my time, become another victim of your conformity.
Don't count on me,
to let you know when.
Don't count on me,
I'll do it again.
Don't count on me,
is the point your missing,
don't count on me
CAUSE I'M NOT LISTENING.

*my face gets red when I see Rodney's beautiful paws in front of me* Woooooow *I hug and rub his soles on my face while sniff then, kiss them and lick them* I love smelly paws, it makes me like them even more . What a wise decision I take to accept the invitation of this attractive bears
No, there was no misunderstanding , I understood the message *I put his toes in my mouth and affectionately suck them while rubbed his other paw in my nose to continue enjoying his scent* He wanted me to adored his smelly paws, something I would definitely would love to do for hours
I like a lot musk feet too. And bear feet. And Rodney feet. So, this pic is AMAZING. He holding his flip flop is one of the best details!
Rodney got lost of great foot pics too. I very obvious you would like his art too. And some day would make of he. More or less like I made one of rexar, but the diference is you is a better artist

Not sure to write my appreciation for hours... or write nothing, already guessing you already know what I'm deeply feeling watching an art by YOU about RODNEY the BEAR and his full-padded FOOTSOLE!
I do the second option... already entered in the best art I have already seen in my life!

First, kudos for replying to every comment here - appreciating your fanbase is something that is wonderful to see. Secondly, there are so many things I love about this, but primarily it is the small detail that makes it. The almost imperceptible aura of funk around those feet and the sandal, just being sucked into the nose is one example, and as you say, the pattern on the sole being another. It turns what is a very well composed piece into something that electrifies.
