I guess the "RECTUM NON BUSTUS" is gallows humor for the LSOs (Landing Signal Officers) which are the guys sitting on the ass-end of the carrier manning "The Meatball" specially when the ship's maneuvering in choppy seas, trying hard to keep a $20 million dollar plane from either slamming on the back end of the deck or going into the drink. LSOs are officers and usually pilots themselves and aside from doing that, they grade their fellow pilots on how the "hook the wire" when they land.
