The missing aftermath of the "brick wall" gag from Zoom And Bored. "Missing" because, during the length of the gag, we never truly get a good view of the coyote's rear end while it's on fire. This pic tries to fix that. In the cartoon, Wile E. Coyote is laughing at having set a rival coyote's fanny on fire. When he realizes it's his fanny that's burning, his glee turns to humiliation and, after a pause that prolongs his embarrassment, he launches himself out of the scene and over a ledge. Here is the "missing" canyon-plunge. At last, a full-on view of his flaming rump. Poor coyote! Rough landing ahead—his devious fanny still ablaze. ^.^

Amen to that! And the "coyote vs. bees" gag is the very next scene in this toon. I enjoy thinking how the animators chose to have the swarm make a beeline for his fanny, when we all know his fanny is still smarting from the dynamite backfire.

A similar double whammy occurs in Soup Or Sonic. First, Wile E. dynamites his rear end, where he's shown making a foxy exit shaking his flaming buttocks! It's not much later when he sets his rear on fire again while riding a rocket (you've seen this).

That is certainly true of the Donald. Disney & Co. sometimes built entire cartoons around the attractiveness of the duck's rear end as a target. They were fearless in their rendering of his bottom—often putting his butt-cheeks on full and jiggling display—and brazen in the torments they cooked up for it. There are too many examples to note here, but here's a link to one of the best and a personal fave: it's Donald's hula from Hawaiian Holiday. Donald works his fanny to "On The Beach At Wakiki," shaking his buns with happy abandon, but the animators have something hotter in mind. Yes, humiliation!

Another toon situation that needs this kind of follow up is the ending to Stop. Look and Hasten. The final "gag' of the toon is the one where Wiley takes some Leg Vitamins to give him the muscle to match the road runner in speed. When Wiley gives chase he literally sets the highway behind him on fire. At the end he crashes head first into a large steel plate that pops out of the ground. What goes unshwon is that while Wiiley's front half is stuck in an indentation in the front. His "rear half' would be stuck out where his own flame trail should be catching up to him. This outcome is sadly not shown in the toon.
I know the scene and I completely agree. That flame trail should definitely be put to better use—especially since it's the closing gag. I, too, have thought about how Wile's rear end is likely being subjected to the fire that's been lit behind him. Only we can't see it because we're with the Road Runner on the front side of the steel plate. If, after studying the coyote's indentation on the front side, the curious RR were to check the other side, he could see the coyote's rear half hanging limply from the dent he's punched in the steel wall (Wile would still be royally stunned). Then the RR could watch the flame trail arrive. Action: the fire lights Wile's drooping tail and travels upward to ignite his exposed fanny. The coyote's buttocks burn freely, a cloud of smoke rising steadily from his flaming rear end. The music stops so the only sound is the crackling fire as the RR watches with a cheerful "wait for it" expression. From inside his confinement, Wile would at last feel the burn. His legs splay out, followed by some frantic rumpshaking, sending flames and sparks to and fro. Stuck deep in the dent he's embedded in, the struggling coyote is unable to extricate himself. Happy at his adversary's dilemma, the RR smiles, "meep-meeps," and zooms away. The action focuses on Wile's gyrating fanny, his flaming buttocks jiggling as his punishment continues. We then return to the front side, where we see "!!!" appearing repeatedly from the indentation—the message from inside being, "Ouch, ouch!!" and "What is going on back there?" Then the cartoon irises out on where Wile's head would be. The end-theme plays with us aware Wile's fanny is blazing like a torch and that he's powerless to do anything about it. ^+^
