Metagross was primarily used on psychic teams (by me) as the perfect 'counter' to dark types and ghost types due to neutrality. I found bronzong to be useless beyond status flinging and stalling and all of them had levitate anyway, but APPARENTLY some schmucks combined the heat shield ability along with magnet rise and made a "lol nothing is super effective against me" that made battles too damn long and drawn out. So how do the game developers compromise? why, giving it WEAKNESSES to two types that it resisted previously.
It's all bronzong's fault that I can no longer use metagross the way I used to. As if having to deal with ground and fire moves all the time wasn't bad enough...(EVERYTHING had earthquake in gen 4 and 5)

What meta have YOU been playing? Nobody uses Heat Proof + Magnet Rise. First of all, Heat Proof only negates its Fire weakness while Levitate makes it full on IMMUNE to Steel's more commonly exploited Ground type weakness. Secondly, Bronzong is too damn slow to get its Magnet Rise up outside of Trick Room or After You support in doubles, so it would get Earthquakes before it can even use Magnet Rise. Heat Proof + Air Balloon is much more viable. What's even better and much more commonly exploited than that in Gen V was "Rainzong" or Levitate Bronzong with Drizzle Politoed support. Immunity to Ground + Rain negating Fire weakness = Epic Win.
That's not true though. Spiritomb had no weaknesses for two generations and Sableye for three. They just now gained a weakness to Fairy in Gen VI. Hell, Eelektross STILL has no weaknesses outside of Gravity strategies and Earthquake from Mold Breaker Pokémon like Haxorus, the same two strategies can be employed to take out Bronzong. Do you really think Bronzong is the only Pokémon that can use Magnet Rise to negate its weaknesses? Try nearly every Electric type ever, and because they tend to be faster, they can use Magnet Rise to a greater effect too.
Don't blame the awesome sauce Japanese prayer bell Pokémon for the Steel nerf. Bronzing isn't even OU. There were a lot of other Steel types that were a lot more threatening before Gen VI, your precious Metagross actualy being one of them.

My biggest gripe though is that it leads to further pandering to the Lucario crowd to try and make it relevant. i dunno where the idea of "Lucario is incredibly popular" came from as I find it sub par and also find it should have been a fighting/Dark or fighting/psychic with all of it's emphasis on aura sensing.
Thankfully, bisharp fills the niche left open by Metagross.

How does a nerf to the Steel type at all help Lucario? That makes it worse defensively, not better. Sexyness factor aside, it's because its an awesome mixed sweeper that everyone loves it. Mega Lucario was actually so incredibly broken that Smogon banned it to Ubers to run around with the likes of Mega Kangaskhan, Mega Gengar, Blaziken, and a ton of extremely powerful legendaries.
To put the sheer brokenness of Mega Lucario into perspective, take the following statement into consideration: http://i.gyazo.com/5a0d2323934e4436.....285341d069.png
(Mega) Lucario deserves all of the attention it's getting and then some.

-Sturdy Golem uses Earthquake
-Mega Lucario is ded
the reason it "helps" lucario is because if fighting's resistance to Dark. Steel had this resistance until the nerf came around and on top of the ghost def being dropped from steel, Metagross and bronzong are no longer able to fight something like Gengar, which they used to be able to.
With Steel lacking the defence it used to have, this means that ONLY bisharp and Lucario resist dark techniques among the steel types, and when it comes to the two, because people have a fetish for it, and because fighting wrecks bisharp, they go with lucario.
i'd sooner pick something out of the blue and design it JUST to destroy a lucario, except I don't have to since almost all my teams include a Sturdy Golem on it that can't be one shot and the mega stone is a massive vulnerability in competitive play.
Of course I also laughed when my brother's machamp+ focus sash OHKO's a mega lucario with dynamic punch, then because the trainer pus all of their prioroties/speed into Lucario, and my brother raised his Machamp's speed, he proceeded to sweep the opposing team thanks to No guard.
he then had a rematch and destroyed the Lucario with his medicham. many laughs were had.

Entry Hazards: A staple of the metagame invalidating Focus Sash and Sturdy tactics since Gen 2. Got a Rapid Spinner? It would be a shame if a Ghost type switched in and blocked it. Defog? Defiant Bisharp and Empoleon will LOVE to switch in on that! More often than not, Entry Hazards (Stealth Cocks more often than not) are just something you have to put up with. Now if your Golem had Leftovers and used Protect the first turn after switching in, THAT would be pretty smart.
As for the Medicham thing? Yeah, no.
+2 252 Atk Adaptability Mega Lucario Close Combat vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mega Medicham: 324-382 (124.1 - 146.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO
A proper Jolly Mega Lucario outruns Mega Medicham. Whoever your bro was facing didn't EV train. Was his a regular scarfed Medicham?
+2 252 Atk Adaptability Mega Lucario Bullet Punch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Medicham: 240-284 (91.9 - 108.8%) -- 50% chance to OHKO (Guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rocks)
Why the +2? Because a smart player doesn't send in ML against something that it can't OHKO without a boost. More often than not, Mega Lucario comes in on a fresh switch to threaten something else and either gets in a strong STAB attack or sets up Swords Dance or Nasty Plot while the foe must retreat in lieu of a Pokémon the opponent HOPES can take out Mega Lucario.
You should play a few rounds on Pokémon Showdown sometime. You'll learn quite a bit about the meta.

Who say's I'm stupid enough to have golem in reserve? The Lucario's I fight are always the first ones out because they want to perform a mega evolution and try an sweep my team.
People who attempt to have hazards as a staple are basically waving a flag and saying "I forfeit". Sure you might have stealth rocks out. Doesn't mean anything when I just got a free ko and have started a steamroll on your team. Toxic spikes? better hope I don't have a fast as heck pokemon with Guts.
And don't you say I'm lying about the Medicham. My brother equipped her with Protect to take advantage of the speed boost after evolution.
Discussions of the blind numbers is why I won't do any "smogen" fighting. It's everyone using the same five fucking pokemon with no originality. The same 5 tactics with the same handful of moves. "Oh got *insert pokemon that isn't one of the top 5*? hahaha, what a loser!"
honestly, if tournament play was the ONLY gameplay to pokemon, I'd have given it up years ago. i won't even do the battle tower/subway/maison. "But how do you get ability capsules/those tms/other stuff that requires Bp?" I don't. Macho brace is good enough for me and I got the pokerus back in ruby and have kept it to current times. of course, X and Y have the training, which is what i use anyway since I have a poor memory of specific horde locations.
But regardless of all that. I personally hate lucario. There are only one or two pokemon I hate more than it, and it's not because it's "good" or "I'm a hipster".

I didn't say you were lying, I said it was a moot point...
Lv 100 Jolly 31 IV Mega Lucario with 252 Speed EVs = 355 Speed
Lv 100 Jolly 31 IV Mega Medicham with 252 Speed EVs = 328 Speed
So either the Mega Lucario your brother fought wasn't properly trained for max Speed, or his opponent was a Mega Idiot and sent in Lucario to fight Medicham after it already Mega Evolved. Either way, good on him for teaching his opponent a lesson in the importance of proper training and battle tactics.
The entry hazard thing? "Oh no, you've knocked out my hazard setter! Surely you will win this battle! I might as well forfeit right now!" Said no one ever. Also, why would Toxic Spikes matter when a Guts Pokémon would (and should) be holding a Toxic or Flame orb anyways?
The same five Pokémon over and over again? Really now? The OU and BL tiers consist of well over 50 Pokémon. Also take into account that you are free to use any Pokémon from the lower tiers to compete in OU as well and what you have is a very diverse battling environment. Why do some Pokémon seem to get more usage than others? Why do you see Pokémon like Scarfed Garchomp, Protean Greninja, Gale Wings Talonflame, Rotom Wash, and Aegislash everywhere? (Those are what come to my mind as the top 5 overused in Singles) One of two reasons.
1) They really are that good.
2) They counter common threats in the meta so well that they have become a part of the meta themselves (see Rotom Wash)
As for the same sets on everything? There are two reasons for that too.
1) A specific moveset is what counters the most threats of the current meta the most efficiently.
2) Some Pokémon really have nothing else viable to work with. (See Aegislash)
So don't hate the players, hate the game. It should be noted that none of the top players use Smogon tactics to the letter. All of them put their own unique spin of their Pokémon which defies the opponent's expectations.
It's important to note that the Smogon tier system rates Pokémon by useage statistics first and balances for power second. I know it's a flawed system and I too want to see it changed. That being said the Pokémon in the higher tiers might not always be better than the lower tiers and some Pokémon in the lower tiers can perform very well in OU. Take one of my favorites, Heliolisk for example. Dry Skin Heliolisk is a flawless Azumaril counter. It eats Aqua Jet and outspeeds for the kill otherwise. It also beats Greninja, Talonflame, and doesn't take shit from Rotom Wash. And what do you know it? Heliolisk is gaining more usage because of this utility. So if you feel that one of your favorites Pokémon and tactics can tear the fabric of OU asuder, by all means open a Showdown account, build your team, rock Smogon's world and see that ladder score rise, along with the usage of your favorites by those that follow your example.

What my argument in the first place is about is how Steels nerf killed metagross. No matter what, I'll never again be able to use it against ghost or dark pokemon. it is officially a non-proper pokemon for my psychic teams now.
That is what I was saying in the first place. Steel types are my favorite. I'm used to only ever getting a x2 bonus on ice and rock and nothing else. I'm used to being destroyed by fire, ground, and fighting. No other types were changed. No, instead they removed Steels resistance to ghost and dark but gave it an "advantage" against fairy types. Seriously? Once gardevoir was determined to be part fairy, all steel types were fucked thanks to that speed and diverse move pool, oh, and guess what? SHADOW FUCKING BALL. Sure she doesn't get a x1.5 bonus, but she doesn't NEED to to destroy a metagross, which she will move faster than. It's not like any sane person would switch IN metagross against her.
Thanks gamefreak.
And as a note; despite the fact I love the steel type, I really hate Lucario's looks (that fucking chest spike) and don't consider lucario a steel type. seriously, there is nothing "steel" about it. it looks like a fighting dark or a fighting psychic with all the blabber about Aura sensing.
But the biggest insult was Lucario being shoehorned into smash bros over Mewtwo to tie into a movie that was coming out at that time, and the movie fucking sucked to boot.
I never will like Lucario. i have raised one or two, but find it too frail to use.

You need not play by Smogon's rules to enjoy Pokémon Showdown. They support all official Nintendo battling formats: Battle Spot Singles, Battle Spot Doubles, VGC 2014, even the April Friendly is supported. You can even challenge people to private battles in which you can agree on the rules ahead of time, if you should choose to have any. I battle a lot of friends this way from great distances. The appeal to Showdown is how little effort it takes to create your team and get straight to the exciting battles against real people around the globe. If you don't feel like doing that, they even have Random Battles in which you get a random team to battle with and make the best of. All Pokémon have their level adjusted in ransoms so that all Pokémon are equal in power. Even Arceus isn't game breaking in Random Battles. Look into it. You might like what you see.
As for the Metagross nerf, I feel like you are overreacting. A properly trained Metagross can take Mega Gardevoir's Shadow Ball and OHKO with Meteor Mash.
252 SpA Mega Gardevoir Shadow Ball vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Metagross: 226-268 (62 - 73.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ Atk Metagross Meteor Mash vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Mega Gardevoir: 474-558 (170.5 - 200.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO
Hell, Metagross can OHKO MG outright before taking damage after Stealth Rocks are up.
252+ Atk Metagross Bullet Punch vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Mega Gardevoir: 210-248 (75.5 - 89.2%) -- 12.5% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
Unboosted coverage moves without STAB aren't doing jack shit to the mighty Metagross! The giant walking super computer behemoth is still as awesome as ever.
I get what you are saying about Lucario. Even if I can't agree with your personal reasons for disliking Lucario, I too detest its frailty, but what it lacks in durability it makes up for in sheer power, good speed, and a wide movepool.

Evidently you don't understand what I'm saying so I'll spell it out:
I NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER have pokemon battles AGAINST OTHER PLAYERS. I get no joy from it. If I lose, i feel bad because my strategy amounted to total shit and it means the strategy is useless. if I win, i feel bad that i beat my opponent and they have to feel that. I hate both sides of it and never "feel good" about a win against a human.
I play pokemon to catch the pokemon, raise them, and fight the computer.
I have a friend who plays pokemon quite often. He begs me, pleads with me to battle him but I will not as regardless of the outcome, i will feel bad. it's a lose lose situation for me.
And while you may be able to "pull numbers", keep in mind that meteor mash is not a 100 accuracy move, therefore it counts as a high risk. Shadowball is 100 accuracy. the metagross is at a severe disadvantage anyway.
... it hasn't stopped me from raising my shiny metagross with a lot of TLC, but it means he has less uses to be swapped into battle.

Oh I see. I think that's quite sad.
Do you never play games against others then? How do you cope with losing to the computer player? Does it not hurt knowing that if your strategy could not defeat the NPC that it surely could never best another human being? I wouldn't worry about the feelings of your opposition if they were to be defeated, but rather your outlook on winning and losing. It's just a game dude. Lighten up.
And Yes Meteor Mash has only 90% accuracy, but from a competitive standpoint, any move with 80+ accuracy is well worth the risk, one which can be mitigated with a Wide or Zoom Lenses. You could just not use Meteor Mash and just strike twice with Bullet Punch to achieve the same outcome.
That's all I really have to say then. I hope that one day you mature to change your outlook on winning and losing so that you too can enjoy the figurative bounty of nectar and ambrosia that is competitive play.

I had my taste of competitive play. It's a whole lot of people bitching when they lose and gloating when they win and I detest both sides of it.
When I lose to an NPC, it's rare, but generally it's an error on my part and i work around it. There is no gloating, no face rubbing, and I don't have to feel bad at smashing the computer since it won't cry about losing.
My brother eventually obliged my friend and while my brother is a good sport, my friend was not and gloated up a storm when a "luck" situation happened to chance in his favor. This instantly soured the idea of 'fun play" for my brother and now my brother refuses to battle him.

Maybe I'm wrong, but somehow the sizes seem off. Either the Heracross is too big or the Metagross is too small.
That aside, If I saw that on the street ahead of me while trying to drive to work, I'd be like "NOPE! Fuck this! I'm SO not going to work today!" And then I'd turn around to go home.
