It's another slow day at the bakery. No customers to keep the cashier occupied, another batch of cookies turned out...less than edible... and even the store pet/greeter has nothing to do but sleep.

Honestly, I find that establishing a situation makes for a much more believable experience, as immense the characters get. It gives you sense that the characters are living in a world rather than experiencing the growth in a vacuum.
Environment can be annoying to get done, but IMO it helps make whatever happens more delightful to see. Of course, I'm sure said environment will be playing more of a role as the growths continue, too! X3
