This one is kind of a long story :V It all started with a friend of mine (Matt) who was terrified of spiders - he once drew a picture of himself joyously ending a spider via hairspray and a lighter, at which another friend (our nominal hero Patrick) was appalled, as he is quite fond of spiders. They became mock nemeses, and prompted artwork such as Matt's Demise in which the spiders take revenge by evolving the ability to breathe fire themselves, dA Char Sheets and Pyrachnitopia! - the fire-breathing spiders became a long-standing in-joke.
I think it goes without saying that my friends are usually on the nerdy side, so obviously turning them into a joke Magic: The Gathering card is completely appropriate. This is Pat's 83
