Dogmen universe. One I haven't touched on much because I hadn't settled on a look that would be appropriate for the setting. It took me two days to settle on something I could work from.
If you've seen anything I've drawn FOR this universe you might know it has a horror focus. Yet I'm still absurdly interested in how characters deal with and rely on each other in those kinds of crises.
I do have a lot to say on the nature of dark thoughts, though I don't know if I should get into it; suffice to say, I think exploring darkness is necessary. Not for its own sake, but because digging in and facing terrible things helps us think more clearly about them later. It's not for everyone. But it's worth dipping your toes into.
Also if you've seen any previous pictures of Arthur, he's been vastly redesigned, as his old design was basically a precursor to Charli, who I ended up drawing more, so she owns that look now.

"The Light shineth is Darkness, and the Darkness comprehend it not."
It is incredibly important to explore the dark portions of reality, even more so in creative mediums like drawing and writing. I prefer not to think of things in terms of the dark side and the light side of things, the world is an amalgam of colors and shades, that only gain meaning depending on contrast.

Dogmen is, on ONE side, a werewolf story, only in this case the characters never go back fully human; this is as close as they get. The body hair might not be absolutely necessary but it's to mark the most-human "most regressed" stage, as opposed to quite dangerous advanced stages.
From my perspective, using movies as a tool?
The Thing, The Prince of Darkness: All rated G forms of exploring darkness, as the darkness is an outside antagonist, against which the light side struggles..
Apocalypse Now, Jacob's Ladder: PG forms of darkness, as the darkness is both internal and external. A very powerful healer, as it promotes introspection.
The Shining: R form of darkness. Strictly internal, and was always there, just waiting to come out. Through a mirror, darkly: it can heal, or it can harm. Either way, it definitely entertains.
The Saw Unrated. Very dark, very nasty, but still has a form, and function. Deeply internal, yet also external; the protagonist draws it out, and we discover the darkness called forth is even worse than the acts used to draw it out. Very cathartic, shocking, and of questionable value as a healing tool.
Hostel, Human Centipede, and the later Saw movies: X. Darkness for darkness' sake, with absolutely no value for introspection or healing, as it appeals to the very basest of emotions. Pornographic in the extreme, such dark works border on recruitment propaganda.
