Oh no, don't worry, yellow means she's happy. If she was glowing red, THEN she would want to hug you with those and that's actually something to be worried about, trust me!

I wonder how they do that bionically - I'm pretty sure the DnD version just has an inborn illusion, which isn't very hard for magical creatures to do (though it requires them to be quite magical indeed)
They might have to settle for a lesser effect with flashing lights and optic fibres in the fur to make it hard to judge their exact movements in the heat of battle.
It'll still be a massive advantage, if you make people block a few inches off, or (wrongly) think you'll fail to block them by a fraction of a second.

Hmm... I think I got it. Flashing lights and fiber optics are effective but only for certain enemies. Remember, the displacer beast affects all enemies with its displacement. To make it work bionically, utilize the lights and fibers you recommended, which adds to the appearance of this character, but also have the arms emit a constant subsonic frequency that, thanks to technology, this kitty may be completely impervious to.
