Endless Realms bestiary - Blintwurm
Bestiary artwork for Endless Realms, a D&D-like "pen and paper" fantasy RPG I'm working for.
This monster block, due to some personal business she's had to take care of recently, needed me to come up with some critters to populate subterranean caves and other dungeon-like settings. Some, like the harpy-like Alan, I pulled from existing mythology, but others I came up with myself. This guy was inspired by caecilians and cave salamanders, pale and eyeless and wormlike. I imagine him having a refined tremorsense, detecting the subtlest movements in the air with the delicate, whiskerlike protrusions from his back, and rather than ambushing prey, suffusing the area with neural toxins (slime, or perhaps gaseous?) that dazes, confuses, and/or knocks out victims, letting the blintwurm feast at its leisure.

Heh, you're correct :) I was going for something sorta pseudo-German (sort of like a few of our critters' names have been pseudo-Latin or pseudo-Greek), so it's not too big a deal. Thanks for letting us know, though! Maybe the project leader will want to change it later :)
Hallucigenia is my favorite cambrian life-form. H. Sparsa in particular. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hallucigenia
And you'll still see it on dA. I've just split that off as basically a photography-only account. I can't promise this icon will be as stable as the other one but there will probably always be some kind of weirdo alphabet on them somewheres.

In a cave i'd never want to run into something like this. I can image this randomly coming into a city, and scaring a population that's never seen something like this before. Or have a group of people riding into town for conquest. This is great work and a fun imagination. Can't wait to see more
